MythbuntuGuest14<MythbuntuGuest68> Hi all, when I first installed mythweb I could download recordings right off it, now all of a sudden its trying to launch some application... any idea how to fix it?00:05
sebrockI want to make the server do a stream00:15
sebrockyour problem is due to an application you set as default, you have to change that in your OS00:15
MythbuntuGuest14I just want to download the .nuv file and save to disk00:16
justinhany gutsy experts in the place? looking for a way to stop eth0 being reconfigured at boot time.  just converted an install to netboot with nfsroot and er,  the kernel is panicing at http://www.pastebin.ca/80887900:17
tgm4883MythbuntuGuest14, did you try right clicking and save file as?00:18
MythbuntuGuest14yeah, but no responce...mythweb serves links as myth://192.168.0.202:6543/1063_20071207023000.nuv00:19
williammanda__hey tgm01:43

MythbuntuGuest16can anyone help me get windows to detect my htpc on my network?01:57
MythbuntuGuest77Hello everyone01:57
=== MythbuntuGuest77 is now known as Mikey7047
Mikey7047I will post my question in case anyone comes back from idle:  I just installed the newest mythbuntu (it's been months I think the last version I had was Edgy) and my picture quality is terrible, where it used to work perfectly fine.  I just installed ivtv drivers which I'm not even sure if that was the right thing to do or not and it didn't help and I am at a loss for what to do next.  I am using a PVR-150 and Gutsy version 02:00
MythbuntuGuest16can anyone help me get windows to detect my htpc on my network?02:01
directhexMythbuntuGuest16, detect what specifically?02:01
MythbuntuGuest16windows isnt seeing the htpc on the network02:02
Mikey7047You need to setup samba if you haven't already02:02
MythbuntuGuest16have02:02
MythbuntuGuest16and have set tcp/ip settings in windows02:02
MythbuntuGuest16is there anything particular that has to be done       just need to move the files from this comp over to the htpc02:03
directhexokay, file sharing02:04
directhexyou never actually said that02:04
directhexinstall samba, configure a share. i'm not sure how much of that can be done from mythbuntu-control-center02:04
MythbuntuGuest16i have the sharing setup in windows02:04
MythbuntuGuest16i know   not many options there02:04
MythbuntuGuest16the folders are shared in mythbuntu but they dont show on this pc02:05
MythbuntuGuest16strange02:05
Mikey7047did you setup the workgroups correctly on both computers also?02:05
MythbuntuGuest16like the same name   yeah02:06
directhexopen a cmd.exe window, try to ping the linux machine by ip address02:06
directhexif that works, start/run, type \\linuxmachineipaddress\02:06
MythbuntuGuest16hmm timed out bit it shows as a connected device under the router config device list02:07
MythbuntuGuest16should i go in and assign a static ip or let it auto config?02:17
directhexdoes your DHCP server (usually your router) provide a reliable IP address to all your machines, which remains the same between reboots (including router reboots)? if not, then yes, assign a static IP02:21
MythbuntuGuest16yeah the router pretty muchs keeps them the same02:22
MythbuntuGuest16any other suggestions     should i be seing a valid ip in ifconfig02:22
MythbuntuGuest16tried to ping the router and the other computer from the terminal and it says network unreachable ?02:25
williammanda__anyone use snapstream firefly or X10 remote?03:20
rhpot1991I don't but I have seen them mentioned in the mythtv users mailing list before03:23
RockHoundhi everyone. I seem to have a problem between the ears in that I am somehow "loosing" recordings. That means they do not show up once recorded in the Media->Recordings ... They are not expired by the backend ... could someone please help me clear this up? I might just misunderstand this.12:04
RockHoundmedia->recordings only shows the "Live TV" recordings ...12:06
HolgerRockHound: the recordnings are catagorized by live recordings and timed12:24
RockHounddoh ... a filter was active12:24

MythbuntuGuest46Hi All14:20
MythbuntuGuest46directhx earlier this week helped me with some video display problem.14:20
MythbuntuGuest46I managed to do what was suggested and have returned for additional instruction if anyone would be kind enough to tell me what I need to do.14:21
MythbuntuGuest46The problem I am having is getting Xorg.conf with the correct settings to display a picture on the monitor.14:22
=== Wckt2 is now known as WcktKlwn
MythbuntuGuest46My motherboard has onboard video (vidia 6150) and I want to use a PCIe card.14:22
MythbuntuGuest46Xorg.conf will only recognize the onboard video and I don't know how to get it to recognize the PCIe card.14:23
MythbuntuGuest46Can anyone help?14:23
MythbuntuGuest46What lspci command to display only video devices?14:30
MythbuntuGuest46I figured it out, the command to use is lspci -X | grep -i "vga\|display"14:39
MythbuntuGuest46I was able to reconfigure xorg and specify the bus ID of the pcie video card and it works now. I will post a detailed description of the issue and the fix on the mythbuntu section of the mythbuntu forum.14:50

sebrocksuperm1_, !!18:58
sebrockseems we pass each other all the time :D18:58
sebrocksuperm1_, however, I changed my sources and got the precompiled lirc package thats in the hardy rep. But the PAD keys still wont work :(18:59
sebrocklircd --version says: lircd 0.8.3pre1 || according to the changelog it should inlcude pad2keys right?19:00
superm1_sebrock,19:11
superm1_um19:11
superm1_there is another step beyond that19:11
superm1_because of the way the kernel modules are handled19:11
superm1_you will have  to have lirc-modules-source from the hardy package too19:11
superm1_and then build it with module assistant19:11
sebrocksuperm1_, can you tell me how I do this?19:24
superm1_install lirc-modules-source19:24
superm1_sudo dpkg-reconfigure lirc-modules-source19:24
superm1_sudo m-a update,prepare19:24
superm1_sudo m-a a-i lirc19:24
sebrockso that will replace the one I have now then?19:24
superm1_well it will build some new ones and install them19:25
superm1_there will be something else to do still though19:25
superm1_get this prat done though19:25
sebrockWhy is it not included in the version in hardy rep?19:25
superm1_the modules aren't shipped in that package19:27
superm1_they are shipped in a kernel package19:27
sebrockDamn, are you here tomorrow, I have to go now...19:27
superm1_but since you can't use a hardy kernel19:27
sebrockaww....19:27
superm1_you have to build them manually in that case19:28
sebrockmaybe it is easied to do as you described yesterday?19:28
superm1_well that still requires you to do this19:28
sebrockand first remove this package altogether19:28
sebrockoh ok... em19:28
superm1_i'll be around19:28
superm1_dont know what time19:28
superm1_but i'll be around at some point19:28
sebrockhmm...19:28
sebrockok, I'll try to contact you then19:28
sebrockthanks though19:28

KjetilKtgm4883_laptop: ok, thank you!20:59
KjetilKI'm working on setting up my Hauppauge PVR-150 remote, and apparently it didn't just work out of the box, but is what is in the mythtv wiki http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_PVR-150 at all relevant for a mythbuntu setup?21:00
DavieyKjetilK: the manual link is fixed21:21
KjetilKDaviey: thanks!21:22
* KjetilK feels a bit lost, but people had told me it is as anticipated ;-)21:23
KjetilKthe docs are very much needed, of course :-)21:23
* Dr_willis wakes up23:23
Dr_willisHmm. I got my 150 all set up. that one dialog/box dident select it by default however - i 'knew' to select the Right entry in there. :)23:23
Dr_willisproblem i had 3with the remote was that there seems to be 3 different ones.. (dog bone? and some other descriptions) wasemt sure what one i had.23:24
