[00:46] hello [00:46] i wonder whether it actually exists a smartphone better than the n95 [00:47] i read some good reports about the htc touch cruise [00:47] l_r: This channel is for discussion of Ubuntu on mobile devices, currently limited to Intel-based platforms [00:48] I'm afraid it's not for discussion of mobile phones [00:48] mjg59, ok sorry. is there any phone based on ubuntu-mobile? [00:48] Not currently, no [00:48] ok [00:48] In the future, who knows? :) [00:48] mjg59: You're up late. [00:48] i hope, although i think not in the foreseable future [00:49] by 2010 or 2011 :) [00:49] StevenK: 1AM? [00:49] StevenK: Thesis is finished and printed, I just need to hand it in tomorrow [00:49] mjg59: Woooot! [00:49] So some celebratory drinking tonight [00:49] mjg59: Congrats are in order. [00:50] eh. They can wait until I actually pass :) [00:50] mjg59: Well, sure. But getting the thing finished is an achievement. [00:51] mjg59: Do you have to defend it? [00:51] Yeah, some time early next year [07:26] good morning === dholbach_ is now known as dholbach === asac_ is now known as asac === benj3one_ is now known as benj3one === matt_c_ is now known as matt_c [18:05] hey patm. Tobin here. [18:11] GrueMaster, hey [18:12] GrueMaster, did you see my note about the image? [18:13] Already downloaded. I am about to commit it to a drive. [18:13] GrueMaster, great appreciate it [18:14] I was playing around with cheese. I see what you mean on the cpu performance. It looks like it is using OGG theora as the video encoder. This "may" change, once helix stabilizes (I have no idea as to the road map). [18:15] you are correct [18:23] Ok, 1220 image is booting up. Seems ok on C0. What rev do you have? [18:26] the cb should be B0, the other unit is B1 [18:26] the failure is on B1 [18:26] I think [18:26] ok, give me a few minutes to try different boards here. [18:32] asac, are you gone on holiday? [18:52] patm: Ok, I have not been able to find a working B0 board here, but I did boot it up on B1. Booted to gui menu no problem. [18:53] GrueMaster, thanks [18:53] GrueMaster, can you confirm it is the new drivers via xvinfo? [18:59] xvinfo really doesn't have much useful information. But you can grep for 32L in /var/log/Xorg.0.log. [19:00] GrueMaster, is xvinfo reports anything then we know we have the new stuff running [19:00] GrueMaster, what would cause the image to fail, video memory allocation? [19:01] well, in that case, ok. I verified that xvinfo is able to run and that fgrep 32L /var/log/Xorg.0.log reports 2.0.0.32L.0004 (which is the correct version). [19:02] great [19:02] any other ideas? [19:03] Not sure. If X fails, I usually reboot with a live usb image and edit /etc/event.d/session to comment out respawn. Then I can boot and get more information when X crashes. [19:03] Try this, and see what shows up in Xorg.0.log [19:04] We tired that with the install image booting into single user, we should try it with the usb image [19:06] Doesn't matter which way you boot, just so long as you can edit out the respawn. It has a nasty side effect of thrashing the harddrive. [19:06] Personally, I think it should be commented out during development anyways. If X crashes, there is usually a reason for it. [19:07] GrueMaster, good point, we're trying again [19:12] GrueMaster, got an update [19:12] k [19:14] psbdriver seg faults after pipe b enabled [19:15] hmmm. [19:15] could the configuration set up by the bios have any effect? [19:16] that is one difference [19:16] Quick refresh. Is this a CB or ODM system? [19:16] ODM [19:16] BIOS is different [19:17] It could be their bios. I know it's different. I think I have a version I can try here on a CB. [19:18] GrueMaster, do any of your test systems use an LCD [19:18] thats another bug difference? [19:19] we have both [19:19] good [19:22] Which bios rev is it? [19:23] 16 [19:24] Hmm. Seems rather old. There must be another rev number somewhere. I have a base bios that they get from our bios engineers. The latest I have is 5A. [19:25] hang on [19:26] they refer to it as 016B, where B is memory size related [19:26] its Phoenix [19:27] I'll try the Phoenix rev I have. It should be fairly similar. [19:41] no luck on the bios. Must be an older rev. I'll check to see if I have a bios that matches this system when I get back from Lunch. [21:32] patm: There? [21:33] I found a working bios. I feel kind of sheepish, I was using a bios specific to the OEM platform that you have, not the CB (oops). [21:33] GrueMaster, aha [21:33] And boot just failed. Initial reaction: bios issue. [21:34] interesting [21:34] now the question is whats the bios doing wrong... [21:35] this helps a lot [21:36] Yes, it does. [21:36] Let me see who is still around. Most people have left for holiday vacations. [21:37] ok thanks [22:23] GrueMaster, if you learn anything please send an email [22:35] will do.
