Davieyhmm, if it is a pseudo keyboard - then i would bypass lirc00:00
rikardotDaviey: it only works until I press a button that does not send mouse commands, then it stops working, it works again only alter reboot,, but anyhow I would really like to get my Logitech Harmony 555 remote working00:08

MythbuntuGuest37Hello.  I am having trouble with Xine and with playing Live TV.  When I select to Watch live TV or play a recording from Xine, I get overlay problems.  Playing the same mpeg from MPlayer or VLC works perfectly.  Is Xine the only option for playing the Live TV streams?  If not, where do I set that to use one of the other players?  Thanks.00:37

LoneShadowIs there an alternate install CD ?02:02
superm1LoneShadow, unfortunately not07:01
BHSPitMonkeysuperm1, ping :/07:29
superm1hi07:29
BHSPitMonkeyhowdy07:29
BHSPitMonkeyI wanted to ask you a little about your efforts on the itouch team on launchpad, would pm be more appropriate? :)07:30
superm1well here it no troubles07:31
superm1the efforts are eventually going towards myth stuff07:31
superm1that was how it all got started, me wanting to get myth2ipod working out well07:31
BHSPitMonkeyah07:31
superm1and then one thing led to another as i realized how horrible ipod touch support was in ubuntu07:32
BHSPitMonkeywell the build of libgpod was helpful to me :)07:32
BHSPitMonkeyafter I got it compiled and working myself, someone showed me your packages, heh07:32
superm1yeah it seems a few people have been doing that07:33
superm1i dont know how to make it more publicized07:33
superm1but oh well07:33
BHSPitMonkeyI'm wondering what you know about transcoding video for the touch, though07:33
superm1well i have experimented with nuvexport a bit07:33
superm1and i got two recordings to transcode okay07:34
superm1but the time it took to do it was horrible07:34
BHSPitMonkeythe stock packages in the ubuntu repositories seem... inadequate07:34
superm1i've yet to determine what the best app to use for the transcoding is though (particularly time wise, not quality wise)07:34
BHSPitMonkeyit doesn't seem like you can use ffmpeg without compiling in aac support yourself07:35
superm1well i was using medibuntu's ffmpeg07:35
superm1which has that done for you07:35
BHSPitMonkeyah... let me check if I'm on that.07:35
superm1and you dont necessarily need aac if i am remembering correctly07:35
BHSPitMonkeyoh?07:35
superm1its been about two weeks since i've been able to touch that stuff07:35
superm1the nuvexport option that is an export directly for an ipod handles it appropriately07:36
superm1oh no nvm07:37
superm1it is aac audio07:37
BHSPitMonkeymmk07:37
superm1but the ffmpeg in medibuntu includes aac07:37
superm1i have nuvexport on the mythbuntu ppa i believe07:38
superm1too07:38
superm1for gutsy07:38
superm1either that or in the ipod-touch ppa07:38
superm1its one of them07:38
superm1yeah and it's in hardy too07:39
superm1i forgot i did all that07:39
BHSPitMonkeyerm07:39
BHSPitMonkeynuvexport depends on mythtv-common07:39
superm1on a newer version possibly...07:40
superm1what version is it built against?07:40
BHSPitMonkeythat seems pervasive for an install on my desktop07:40
BHSPitMonkey 0.20.1+fixes12136-0ubuntu1~ppa107:40
superm1well its for transcoding mythtv recordings07:40
BHSPitMonkeyfair enough07:40
superm1so if these are standalone files you cant use it anyhow07:40
JThundleywhy are the jump keys inverted?07:50
JThundleyI can either have my channel buttons jump ahead and back correctly and scroll up and down inverted or vice versa07:52
MilhousePunkRockGood morning everyone and merry christmas!09:05
th1hi, I've installed mythtv and mythstream for ubuntu nowI can listen to music channels with Shoutcast, is there anyway for me to record the music to a file?13:00
JThundleymplayer -dumpstream13:41
chairmandoes anyone know when mythvideo and the plugins will be build in the weekly build repository? I updated mythtv but the mythvideo didn't get updated16:54
jumpkic1merry Christmas everyone17:10

MilhousePunkRockDaviey: I got the remote working by getting v4l from mercurial..17:42
danonurahello. anyone know if a Radeon X1900 Series card will work with myth? i've googled it and it seems unlikely but i thought i'd ask in here. thanks19:37
Tariyou could probably get it to work (only as an output device; ATI capture is bad)19:39
Tariyou'd probably need to configure it yourself some19:39
danonurathanks. i'm looking at www.mythbuntu.org/support and see HDHomeRun™ Networked Digital TV Tuner. i think i may just build a new box just for tv stuff19:43
danonuradon't know how much the HDHomeRun™ Networked Digital TV Tuner is yet though19:43
danonuraor maybe a Hauppauge card of some type19:44
danonurareally like to have a reliable machine to do this19:45
danonurathis isn't bad price wise http: slash slash wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Silicondust_HDHomeRun $17019:48
danonuraor maybe another hd with linux and maybe i could just add this card to my mb19:49
danonuraby the way what tv tuner card do you use?19:51
danonurabrb19:51

Davieygood 'o20:11
hasseDaviey: is it possible to see whats updated in new releases without joining the commit maillists/20:12
Davieyyeah, vieing the commits ml'list archives20:12
Davieyhttp://mythtv.org/pipermail/mythtv-commits/20:12
DavieyThere's no clean changelog - and i don't think anyone could justify it20:13
hasseanother question, in mythmusic, is it possible to burn music from that directly to a cd as wav _20:14
hasse?20:14
Davieyhmm, never tried20:15
Davieyi don't think so tho20:15
danonurajust wondering what tuner cards you guys are using as i've looked at the hdhomerun a little closer and its not really what i want.20:26
Davieydanonura: I use Nova's20:28
Davieyfor DVB-T20:28

danonurajust wondering20:37
danonuraare you from uk?20:38
danonuraits mpeg2 if this helps, but probably already know that20:39
Davieysuperm1: you tell me, it successfully sync'd on sunday20:39
danonuraprobably you20:39
superm1Daviey, well i know that the 'retry build' needs to be manually hit every week20:40
superm1on the plugins20:40
Davieysuperm1: I guess it sync'd whilst a build was still being processed by the PPA20:40
superm1so you probably synced in the middle of before it was hit20:40
DavieyWell would it be worth me changing the time it auto sync's?20:40

darkfrogI installed Mythbuntu 7.10, but I can't get any sound to play...I have an on-board audio and a PCI SB Audigy card...I'd prefer it play from the Audigy card. Everything seems correct but I get no sound...I am trying to migrate from Fedora (which worked out of the box with sound) to Mythbuntu and everything but sound seems to be working pretty well.20:42
superm1Daviey, well perhaps making it more frequent20:42
superm1darkfrog, see asoundconf20:42
superm1it sets the default card in use20:42
superm1danonura, recording from digital satellite in canada probably needs a dvb-s card20:42
superm1but i'm not sure about encryption20:43
Davieysuperm1: Could make it daily...20:43
danonurais there a north american mythtv irc channel anyone know? maybe i'm in wrong channel20:43
superm1there you go20:43
superm1danonura, well i'm in the US20:43
danonuraah ok20:43
superm1but I use qam (cable) and atsc (ota)20:43
superm1once you go into dvb-s territory its rocky ground because most of it is encrypted20:44
superm1and the methods to record it are illegal20:44
danonurai just read your above post about dvb-s card thanks superl20:44
danonuraoh now i get it20:44
danonurabut for true fta get a dvb-s card then?20:45
superm1that's my understanding on it20:45
superm1you won't find very much information on it though20:45
danonuraand terrestrial too20:45
danonuraok thank you20:46
superm1its one of those things that the people who know a lot about it dont talk about it20:46
darkfrogsuperm1, set the card as default and used alsamixer to make sure all the volume is up but still no sound.20:46
superm1good luck20:46
danonuraright20:46
superm1darkfrog, toggle the iec958 mixer20:46
danonurai'm a bit of a newb lol20:46
superm1it changes the digital output from on/off20:46
darkfrogsuperm1, just turned it off...still no sound. :(20:47
darkfrogI'm using: aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Noise.wav to test20:47
superm1darkfrog, hmm, well perhaps you are better off leaving something playing constantly20:48
superm1so you can toggle mixers live20:48
darkfrogaha!20:49
darkfrogthere was another digital toggle. :)20:49
darkfrogI think I got it working. :)20:50
darkfrogsuperm1, thanks for the tip...I didn't realize that something be unmuted could cause audio not to be heard. ;)20:50
superm1darkfrog, no prob20:57
superm1darkfrog, if fedora didn't have this problem it is because it is on an older version of alsa.  its a matter of the newer alsa defaults20:59
darkfrogHow do I permanantly make /dev/raw1394 accessible? I can chmod 777 /dev/raw1394 and that works for that session, but how do I make it permanent?21:22
=== Sphagnum is now known as Tari
darkfrogHey guys, I'm curious why though I specified to use the ATI lirc stuff in the configuration it's using the kernel modules for my Remote Wonder II...is there any way to make it actually use lirc properly?22:07
