tinmanlol02:25
mdkesommer: I don't think there is a simple way, you simply have to substitute the ghelp link with the html link - the script uses sed for that.08:16
mdkesommer: but you could try asking one of the gnome docs guys such as shaunm08:16
mdkesommer: it's possible that the gnome build system has a way of doing it; maybe ask on the mailing list rather than on irc - their channel is quieter than ours08:23
sommermdke: ya, the issue is finding where the ghelp link is linking to... heh13:34
sommermdke: I'm thinking there's got to be a way to "index" the sect1 with the html path they generate13:34
sommermdke: then replace the ghelp with the appropriate html link13:35
sommermdke: that's a good idea about the gnome guys, surely someone else has tried this :-)13:35
Legendariois anyone here from the doc team?15:10
sommersure15:11
Legendarioi would like to translate the packaging guide to portuguese...15:12
Legendariois there a way to do it using the launchpad?15:12
sommerLegendario: not sure, the packaging guide has been moved to the wiki: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PackagingGuide15:14
sommerLegendario: I'm not sure how that is translated?15:14
LegendarioI know it has been moved.15:14
Legendariobut it is not fully translated15:15
Legendarioi would like to finish it, but i find the launchpad the best way to do it15:15
Legendariocan anyone from the doc team set that?15:16
sommerLegendario: gotcha... sorry I'm not very familiar with the translation process15:16
sommeryou might try asking on the mailing list15:16
Legendariodo you know anyone that can give me this answer?15:17
Legendariowell.15:17
sommermdke may be able to... may be a while for a replay :)15:17
Legendariothanks anyway15:18
Legendariodo you know if there is many difference between the 6.06 version from the work in progress version15:19
sommerLegendario: heh... I'm not 100% sure, still pretty new to Ubuntu myself.15:21
sommerLegendario: you can probably find more details in #ubuntu-motu for that question15:21
Legendariook. thanks15:21
Legendariothanks dude15:21
sommerI wouldn't think there would be that many differences though :-)15:21
sommernp15:21
Legendariohelp apreciated15:24
ubotuNew bug: #181099 in ubuntu-doc "ntd-simple no longer available as package" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/18109920:56
astabenoHow do I download/view the docs in launchpad?21:07
sommerastabeno: this page explains it: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DocumentationTeam/Repository21:09
sommerif you run into problems feel free to ask here21:09
astabenoI see thanks, guess that will only be done on my Ubuntu machine21:28
=== nivek_ is now known as nivek
mdkesommer: I think it's fairly clear where the ghelp links link to... what's you're issue with that?22:17
mdkesommer: in most cases I think it's true to say that a link such as "document#section" should link to document/C/section.html22:21
mdkethere may be some exceptions I suppose22:21
astabenoI am getting everything downloaded now.22:27
mdkeastabeno: good, welcome aboard22:32
sommermdke: that's true I think I was confused about links such as: user-guide#nautilus-cdwriter-data22:41
sommerthen I realized the gnome user-guide is on the website as well... from fix-urls.py22:41
sommermdke: I'm still working on a python script to loop through the files, should hopefully have something by the weekend22:42
mdkewell, the principle I tried to set out doesn't work for that link ;)22:42
mdkethere is no file as https://help.ubuntu.com/7.10/user-guide/C/nautilus-cdwriter-data.html22:42
mdkehttps://help.ubuntu.com/7.10/user-guide/C/nautilus-cdwriter.html works though22:43
sommermdke: ya... there are only currently 17 of those type of links, so if nothing else they can be hard coded or something22:44
mdkebecause the section linked to is quite a low level one, it doesn't get its own page22:44
mdkeyeah. to do it automatically, the script would have to check what level section is linked to, and amend the link to point at the higher level section22:44
mdketricky :)22:44
sommermdke: I don't think that would be too hard once you know which file to link to22:45
sommerbut to do that you'd have to parse all the xml files22:46
sommerthen make some kind of index between sect and html file names22:46
sommerat least that's been my train of thought22:46
mdkeit's a bit heavy for something like this22:48
mdkesee if the gnome guys have any better ideas, although I have the feeling they don't22:49
sommeryep it definitely feels heavy... but once the "index" (I was thinking of sqlite) was created it could potentially be used for other things22:51
sommermdke: thanks for the input, I sent an email to gnome-doc list earlier today as well :)22:52
mdkesommer: ok. thanks for the work on that. I'll see you late22:59
