milestonekraut: ???08:31
krautmilestone: ubuntu sucks hell when you using a san-mount08:32
milestonekraut: why should i install redhat?08:32
krautthey aren't able to build a kernel for this08:32
milestonekraut: aha08:32
krautbecause ubuntu won't fit for that08:32
milestonekraut: but that is the only thing i have left though08:33
milestonethe module is loaded at boot time08:33
milestoneit just cannot read the firmware08:33
krautbelieve me or not, but qlogic-hba and ubuntu is a major pain into the ass08:33

krautthat's exactly the point08:33
milestonekraut: i do believe you08:33
krautyou need to install the firmware with the driver-pacakge from the qlogic page08:33

nocturnHi all13:04
nocturnI'm using libnss-ldap to get users from a local ldap server (Ubuntu 6.06.2 LTS)13:04
nocturnThe problem is that only root can get user information, users have 'i have no name' as username after logging in.13:05
nocturnWhat's wrong?µ13:05
nocturnlibnss-ldap.conf is world readable13:05

sommersoren: apologies if you've already answered this somewhere, but how do I use virt-manager with qemu from cli?15:11
sommersoren: or is the ability not ready yet?15:11
sorensommer: virt-manager is a gui.15:11
sorensommer: What do you want to do?15:12
sommerright, maybe virsh was what I was looking for15:12
sorensommer: Possibly. :)15:12
sommeruse the new virt* to install a qemu instance15:12
sommerfrom cli15:12
sorenvirtinst does that, yes.15:12
sorenIt has a cli.15:12
sommerah... gotcha15:12
sommercool, I'll take a look at it15:18
sommerthanks soren15:18
sorenno worries:)15:18
nocturnnobody here using libnss?15:33
sorenI'd be quite surprised if not everyone here used libnss.15:34
nocturnsoren: I've been working on this 'i have no name' problem for 3 days now... no luck whatsoever15:38
nocturnI do not understand what could cause this to happen15:39
nocturnsoren: sorry15:39
nocturni typed libnss, should have been libnss-ldap15:39
nocturn:-(15:39
soren"getent passwd yourusername" ddoesn't work?15:39
nocturnonly as root15:39
nocturnand my own username when nscd is running, otherwise not15:39
sorennocturn: Which version of ubuntu?15:43
sorennocturn: ...and what's in you libnss-ldap.conf?15:43
nocturn6.06.2 LTS15:44
nocturnlibnss-ldap lists the host, URI, binddn and bindpw15:44
nocturnwhich seem correct as root can resolve the users15:44
nocturnI also have an Ubuntu desktop client running 7.10, which does not show this problem with the same libnss-ldap.conf15:45
sorenCompletely identical?15:46
nocturnyep15:53
nocturncopied them over15:54
nocturnI did not used to have this on the same machine...15:54
nocturnI guess it started after the last ldap update, though I'm not sure (discovered it by accident)15:54
nocturnI have to go for today...15:57
nocturnI'll crack my head over this again tomorrow15:57
nocturnthanks soren15:57
krielstrange question. I'm trying to connect to a cisco router via the serial console port. I've come across most of the proper hardware, and I've gotten it to work using PuTTY on another (windows) system and the same rollover cable. However, there's also an added obstacle. I'm working on a laptop, and it dosen't have a native serial port, so I'm trying to use a serial-to-usb adapter.16:22
krieldoes anyone know of a way to test and see if my serial-to-usb adapter is working? I have read online that other setups use a /dev/ttyUSB*, however I do not have that in my /dev.16:23
juliuxdoes someody know if there are nagios2 packages for dapper?16:33

gargehgood evening freenoders22:25
=== gargeh is now known as Gargoyle
nxvl_workcan you please take a look at Bug #18208622:51
ubotuLaunchpad bug 182086 in dovecot "dovecot-common postinst fails for multiple ssl certs" [Medium,In progress] https://launchpad.net/bugs/18208622:51
nxvl_workim not fully sure about it22:51
nxvl_workmathiaz: that's what you meant?22:52
mathiaznxvl_work: yes - did you test it ?22:56
nxvl_workmathiaz: not on the package, but in other shell script22:56
nxvl_workmathiaz: i create 2 ordered lists and try it22:57
mathiaznxvl_work: could you create a test installation and make sure that package works as expected ?22:57
nxvl_worki will wait until matt posts his dovecot.conf to see how the multiple ssl thing works, cause i'm not so sure about it22:58
mathiaznxvl_work: good idea.23:01
nxvl_workmathiaz: about the solution, you can try this -> http://pastebin.com/m6423d0223:02
nxvl_workis the same structure23:02
mathiaznxvl_work: I'm not sure how the code will deal with a different order in the cert list and the key list.23:03
nxvl_workhttp://pastebin.com/m2c402fb0 <- here you can see it clearly23:03
nxvl_workmathiaz: it won't23:03
nxvl_workmathiaz: but as i have read for configuring multiple certs they must be some way ordered23:03
nxvl_workmathiaz: if the certs pairs are unordered it will be a mess23:04
nxvl_workbut there is no way to check which certs goes with which key23:05
nxvl_workis they are unordered23:05
nxvl_workand as i have seen on the dovecot list archive they must be grouped by ip or something -> http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2006-October/017165.html23:06
nxvl_workmathiaz: did you think better to discuss it on the list?23:06
mathiaznxvl_work: most of the code doesn't rely on a link between the cert and the key23:09
nxvl_workbut this line does -> openssl req -new -x509 -days 365 -nodes -out $SSL_CERT -keyout $1 > /dev/null23:09
mathiaznxvl_work: only the part that generates the cert/key needs to have the correct combination of the cert file and the key file23:09
nxvl_workmathiaz: yes, and can you imagine what could happen if that line runs with an incorrect cert/key pair?23:10
mathiaznxvl_work: I think that the order needs to be respected in the dovecot.conf file.23:15
mathiaznxvl_work: if you define multiple server/protocol, you need to specify ssl_cert_file and ssl_key_file one after the other23:15
nxvl_workmathiaz: yes, thats what i have understood too, but i was not fully sure23:16
mathiaznxvl_work: What happens if you define two ssl_cert_file and then two ssl_key_file ?23:16
mathiaznxvl_work: it may be worth testing this scenario.23:17
nxvl_workyou mean to define "ssl_cert1, ssl_cert2, ssl_key1 and ssl_key2" in that order?23:17
mathiaznxvl_work: yes23:18
nxvl_workit will work fine23:18
nxvl_worksince it parses the file and it greps for them23:18
nxvl_workit doesn't see the certs/key pairs23:18
mathiaznxvl_work: I mean if dovecot would work correctly23:18
nxvl_workit only know the order of the certs and on the other hand the order of the keys23:18
nxvl_workthose 2 must match23:18
nxvl_workoh ok ok23:19
mathiaznxvl_work: I'm actually thinking about ssl_cert1, ssl_cert2, ssl_key2, ssl_key123:19
nxvl_workthat won't work for the script, but i'm not sure on dovecot23:19
mathiaznxvl_work: yes - that's what I'd test.23:19
mathiaznxvl_work: if it works for dovecot, then the script has to been refactored23:20
nxvl_workbut in that scenario it will be imposible to make the correct cert/keys pairs since we are only greping them23:20
mathiaznxvl_work: the script has take care of this scenario I man.23:20
nxvl_workyes, of course23:21
mathiaznxvl_work: correct. So we may have to change things then. And implement the suggested solution by the bug reporter (even if it's not optimal).23:21
nxvl_workbut it need to be refactored not only my diff, but the whole ssl part23:21
mathiaznxvl_work: correct23:22
nxvl_workor make some kind of dovecot.conf debugger to check the syntax of it23:22
