[01:32] I'm having a captions issue. Captions work fine if I'm running the frontend on the backend server, but not from a separate ubuntu frontend. The ubuntu frontend shows "no captions" if the source is my PVR350 (connected to my directv receiver) and "ATSC CC1 English on", but no captions display or "no captions" if the source is one of my HDTV cards. [01:32] The issue is with recordings and with live tv. The only suggestions I've found tend to be an all or nothing with captions and not just different frontends. Any idea what could be causing this? [01:33] Hello, I am unable to use the livecd, it looks like graphics are not being properly detected. I see the mythbuntu loading screen & then when X starts its just a bunch of colorful lines. I've tried selecting different resolutions, graphics safe mode, tried different graphics card & monitor... nothing helps. any ideas? === slestak|away is now known as slestak [02:47] Has anybody had luck with the HVR-1600 beta drivers in mythbuntu? [04:05] whats the right way to install and configure mythtv? [04:07] !configure [04:07] Sorry, I don't know anything about configure - try searching on http://ubotu.ubuntu-nl.org/factoids.cgi [04:07] alexvd, follow the wiki [04:07] !mythtv [04:07] MythTV is a TV framework for Linux - Instructions for using with Ubuntu at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MythTV [04:08] i have kind of problem [04:08] superm1: me? [04:09] oh sorry alexvd [04:09] didnt see that there as two names that started with al [04:09] flattered that you actually remember me? [04:09] just pressed "al [04:09] ahhhh [04:09] after to screens of configuration [04:09] going back to sleep [04:09] two [04:10] 2nd screen contains finish [04:10] and no more [04:10] alexvd, somethign with newer nvidia drivers [04:10] right? [04:10] no [04:10] that was at alexvd :) [04:10] i have builtin vga [04:11] yep storage groups wizard, [04:11] right [04:11] ok [04:11] good memory [04:11] alsadk, can you start out from the beginning, how'd you install? [04:11] from cd [04:11] or from apt [04:11] and how far are you into configuring things [04:11] from add/remove [04:11] have to get the media mvp working and post instructions for you [04:11] as well [04:12] alexvd, actually someone else did that last week :) [04:12] alexvd, it should be on the wiki now from what he told me [04:12] cool even better for me [04:12] https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MythTV/MediaMVP_Frontend [04:12] hey did they fix the channel icons yet? [04:12] alsadk, okay so what program did you install from add/remote [04:12] i know they have the script in trunk [04:12] mythbuntu control centre? [04:12] or mythtv something? [04:12] but i dont want to upgrade [04:13] alexvd, not sure, i'm switched over to trunk myself right now in preparation for the freeze [04:13] and to make sure the builds are working rihgt [04:13] right even [04:13] add/remove [04:13] mythtv [04:13] right you ready to release 8,04 [04:14] alsadk, okay, well its really a lot easier if you install the mythbuntu control centre, you can verify your system roles [04:14] and make sure that all the right packages got installed [04:14] and configure properly inside there [04:14] alexvd, way too much left to do for it :) [04:14] i install it either [04:15] alsadk, well with it in place, you can make sure that you have the "master" backend role setup [04:15] but i cant got the rest of configuration [04:15] not just the regular backend role [04:15] ahh ok hey maybe you should wait anyway until DirecTV releases that new box and this way it would integrate smoothly. That should be a blockbuster product [04:16] alexvd, well unfortunately there is a schedule to follow on our end :) [04:16] the guy from happaauge who is writing the driver said it should be released soon [04:16] ok i have backend &forend [04:16] understood :) [04:16] alexvd, which driver for which box? [04:17] alsadk, okay so check and make sure that the backend is running [04:17] how? [04:17] alsadk, you can check by looking at the process listing in the gnome system monitor [04:17] and then if its not, look at the log [04:17] /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log [04:17] and see why its not running [04:17] happaugge is going to release a usb recorder for directv that will have linux drivers. No more capture card required [04:18] lots of buzz at CES [04:18] wow [04:18] that's really sweet [04:18] any talk of resolution drop downs or anything like that that are happening with it? [04:18] or if it does full res etc [04:19] no kidding... he was on the mythtv-users list talking to iamlindoro about it [04:19] bash: /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log: Permission denied [04:19] well i dont know about that [04:19] alsadk, you need to open it in a text editor or reader [04:19] I thought it was going to record .264 and all that good stuff [04:19] i have no idea what kind of DRM they are going to put on it [04:20] well if its having linux drivers, the only thing i could think is a watermark [04:20] Access denied for user 'mythtv'@'localhost' (using password: YES) [04:20] man I will buy 4 as soon as it comes out. [04:20] is this the reson? [04:20] alsadk, that sounds like the reason [04:20] did you mess with passwords at all? [04:20] for mysql etc [04:21] I think they had lots of talk on avsforum [04:21] i just put another pass while config but i fix it [04:22] alsadk, well there are unfortunately a lot of places that the passwords get used [04:22] to take some out of hte mix [04:22] rm -rf ~/.mythtv [04:22] that will remove any user specific settings [04:22] rm -rf /home/mythtv/.mythtv [04:23] and then make sure that the password in /etc/mythtv/mysql.txt is correct [04:24] rm -rf /home/mythtv/.mythtv [04:25] yes [04:25] rm: cannot remove directory `/home/mythtv/.mythtv': Permission denied [04:25] do it with sudo then [04:25] gets rid of the settings so you can start fresh [04:25] ?? [04:25] explain [04:26] whats next [04:28] Question: I had to force quit MythTV while playing a DVD with AC3 passthrough enabled. Now I have no sound. This happened before, and I reinstalled to fix. Any suggestions or ideas to fix this issue? [04:34] bump Anybody? [04:35] sorry i here want help either [04:36] the problem didn't fix [04:37] I'm just hoping I can avoid a reinstall. [04:38] there is 3 screens 1 for choseing lang the others for something else [04:38] how u install it? [04:38] i want help [04:39] alsadk: I don't know if anyone is trying to help you, but what is it that you are trying to do exactly? [04:39] how u install it ? [04:40] i want to continue the configuretion of mythtv [04:40] to install mythtv? [04:41] "sudo apt-get install mythtv" will install it. Then, from the terminal, "mythtv-setup" will run through the initial setup. [04:41] i install it but there is know ready program to deal with [04:42] I'm having trouble understanding your english, but are you trying to set up mythtv or run the frontend? [04:42] setup [04:43] in the terminal, you should type "mythtv-setup" without the quotes. It should also be listed under System|Administration|MythTV Backend Setup [04:45] i do it but there is just 3 screens one of them for lang [04:45] no screen for satllite [04:45] So, you're trying to configure Satellite TV? [04:46] i can't get that screen and others [04:46] how can i get it? [04:47] isomorphism, try restarting your receiver [04:47] like power cycle it [04:47] Do you have the main configuration screen? It starts with general. Also has options for Input selection, and others? [04:47] if that doesnt do it, power cycle the machine (like power it off, unplug it plug it in) [04:47] superml: I power cycled the receiver as well as rebooted the machine. [04:47] isomorphism, hm usually for me that does the trick to reset it [04:48] superm1, It has something to do with the state the system was in when I had to force kill mythtv. [04:48] you tried to toggle the digital output mixer? [04:48] occasionally it gets stuck on Dolby Digital mode and will even play dolby digital, but nothing else. [04:48] i didn't get the screean where there is 'input' etc [04:48] how can i get it? [04:48] alsadk, what screen do you have?> [04:48] isomorphism, on my box let me show you what i do (and has eliminated these types of problems) [04:49] isomorphism, http://paste.ubuntu.com/4336/ [04:49] i made an .asoundrc that looked like that [04:49] 3 screens the 1st for choseing lang [04:49] and then set all my output devices to be default [04:50] that forces everything to go out via spdif either in PCM mode or in DD mode, no matter [04:50] superml: I'll give it a shot and see if that helps to restore things. If it won't help restore, at least I have something I can try to avoid it in the future. [04:50] isomorphism, you'll have to kill mythfrontend and start it back up to have it take effect [04:50] alsadk: So, after choosing your language, what screen do you have? [04:51] i've debated making it the default for installs, like ask if you want to use spdif and then create that file [04:51] screen for mysql setting [04:51] but i'm not sure it works for everyone [04:51] superm1: Shouldn't I have to restart alsa all together for it to take effect? [04:51] isomorphism, i dont believe so [04:51] because its in your home director [04:51] directory even [04:51] superm1: Well, it's better than what I have now, which is no sound and no clue. [04:51] so apps source it [04:53] 2nd screen for mysql [04:54] superm1: Well wouldn't you know it. I slapped that into my .asoundrc and I suddenly have live TV sound. The receiver still reverts to dolby digital when I stop playback, so it's not a perfect fix, but it's good enough for now. [04:54] Thanks. [04:54] isomorphism, try something in DD [04:54] and see what happens [04:54] it should hopefully come back to normal mode when it leaves it [04:54] alsadk: So, did you get the mysql information entered correctly on that screen, or is this the screen that you are stuck on? [04:55] yes [04:55] alsadk: What part of this screen are you stuck on? [04:56] i didn't stuck on it [04:57] alsadk: I don't understand what you're stuck on... Are you stuck on the MySQL screen? [04:57] i get after it a screen with to options i ignore this options and chose finish [04:58] after that i try mythtv frontend and get the same screens [04:58] alsadk, what 2 options are you ignoring? [04:58] the ones that repeat language and mysql setup? [04:58] yes [04:59] i think the 2 options not important [04:59] alsadk, that means that its not able to connect to your mysql server [04:59] alsadk, This indicates that you are not connecting to your backend or the sql database. Is the mysql database on the same machine that you are running mythfrontend on? [05:00] that same error you kept encountering in your backend log [05:00] your password in /etc/mythtv/mysql.txt must not be correct for what was set [05:00] yes [05:00] or its being overridden by the one in ~/.mythtv/mysql.txt (if its there again) [05:00] are you sure that you are using the correct mysql password ? [05:00] its correct [05:00] yes [05:00] did you use any non alpha-numeric characters in it by chance? [05:01] eg #,/,& [05:01] etc [05:01] no [05:01] try "sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-database" and make sure that you have the correct password entered. [05:01] i run it on standalone comp [05:02] superm1, Well, it still isn't reverting to the 'non-DD' state when audio stops, but at least I have sound from all sources tried so far. Thanks! [05:02] awesome isomorphism :) np [05:02] isomorphism, let me know if you do end up discovering any shortcomings of that method [05:03] alsadk, Have you tried starting mythfrontend from the terminal to see if it reports any particular errors? [05:03] i did it [05:03] superm1, I will do so. [05:03] no [05:03] alsadk, at this point, it may just be easier to reinstall mythtv-database and mysql-server so that this all gets reset [05:03] alsadk, sudo apt-get remove --purge mythtv-database mysql-server* [05:04] and then reinstall them [05:04] and just use the defaults for passwords etc [05:06] superm1, The only short-coming I can see so far is kind of weird. It seems like there is a background process hanging somehow locking on to the receiver to hold it in Dolby Digital mode. After playing a non DD file, it takes about 3 seconds, but it reverts to DD. If I switch the input to a different ubuntu machine, I don't have this behavior. (nor did I have it before the dreaded force quit) [05:06] isomorphism, what type of audio card are you using? [05:06] did u mean all or just mysql-server and how? [05:07] alexvd, i mean mythtv-database and any mysql-server packages [05:07] that * at the end will catch all the mysql server packages that are installed [05:10] superm1, it's an integrated audio deal on my cheap old Aopen mobo. I believe it's a Realtek ALC650, though is listed in Alsa as Via 8235 (chipset I guess?) [05:10] ah okay. [05:10] it must be caught in some really weird state [05:11] can you consider booting a live disk on the machine? [05:11] and then see if the live disk clears all the card's buffers and registers properly? [05:12] superm1, I'm pretty sure that a live disc would fire right up after enabling the iec958. In fact, this is not the first time this exact thing has happened. Last time I fought with it for a week or so, didn't come up with a perfect solution, so I backed up data and reinstalled. [05:12] whats next [05:13] alsadk, okay so once those are gone, it will ask you to drop the database [05:13] make sure you say OK [05:13] and then reinstall those packages [05:13] superm1, I could try to see if the live disk would restore it, but I think that I'll save that for tomorrow.. [05:13] isomorphism, very well. best of luck :) [05:16] superm1, Thanks again. I'm off for the night. Best of luck to you and alsadk getting things worked out. ;-) [05:17] ok [05:18] will you using another computer to run mythtv? [05:18] or something near for it [05:18] what i do? [05:19] well will you? [05:19] or just this one [05:19] i chose no [05:19] i want on just single computer [05:20] :) [05:21] what is the name of MySQL administration account : [05:21] its root by defualt did i have to change it ? [05:29] hopefully you didn't change it :) [05:36] and the pass what i put [05:37] what i put as pass any pass i want or what? [05:44] ? [05:45] dont put a pass [05:45] unless you set one [05:46] (that's probably where you messed up before)? [05:46] ok i didn't this time [05:46] now what? [05:48] i didn't find mythtv backend [05:49] well hopefully it should start up properly this time [05:49] when you configure it [05:51] i didn't find mythtv backend i was used frontend and get those 3 screens? [05:53] but you were able to configure it this time? [05:53] or no [05:53] you still need to run mythtv-setup [05:54] sudo: mythtv-setup: command not found [05:54] bash: /usr/bin/mythtv-setup: No such file or directory [05:55] alsadk, do you not have mythtv-backend installed still? [05:55] check [05:55] did u have a good tutorial for installing mythtv? [05:55] !mythtv [05:55] MythTV is a TV framework for Linux - Instructions for using with Ubuntu at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MythTV [05:55] walks you straight through it all [05:55] yes i have not [05:56] did u try another app [06:07] did use mythbuntu or mythtv? [06:10] alsadk, i'm a developer for mythbuntu [06:10] oh wow [06:11] i didn't like win ubuntu pic change to mythbuntu on startup [06:11] !mythtv [06:11] MythTV is a TV framework for Linux - Instructions for using with Ubuntu at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MythTV [06:12] you can change that in the control centre [06:12] just turn off the artwork [06:12] oh ok [06:12] nice [06:13] so whats the deference between mythtv and mythbuntu? [06:14] mythbuntu simplifies a lot of the things that you would have to do manually normally [06:14] all the development happens right in the archive though [06:14] so the same packages are used, they are just more nicely configured and such [06:14] how to completly remove mythtv? [06:17] apt-get remove --purge mythtv* [06:17] will get rid of most of the items [06:17] and then apt-get remove --purge libmyth* [06:17] should get the rest [06:18] whats rid? [06:18] remove [06:19] ok i want to install mythbuntu [06:20] wait lib to be removed [06:20] well if the machine is just going to be for mythbuntu (nothing else) [06:20] you're best off grabbing the CD [06:20] and installing that way [06:21] it will make sure that you have no conflicts while it installs etc [06:21] no i used the comp [06:22] i want mythbuntu as another app [06:24] ah [06:24] now give me instructions of installing [06:24] make sure to remove mysql-server as well [06:25] do a quick search in synaptic for mythtv [06:25] i did [06:25] and make sure you've got everything out already [06:25] then follow the directions on http://mythbuntu.org/ [06:25] for "Add to Ubuntu" [06:27] in which lang u devolp mythbuntu? [06:27] python mostly [06:27] is it want a pro to be devolper? [06:28] "is it want a pro?" i dont understand that question [06:28] alsadk, no, I devolp some for Mythbuntu as well...and superm1 can vouch I am very much not a pro [06:29] superm1, I think he's asking if he needs to be a pro to be on the dev team [06:29] ok is python platform-independent lang [06:29] ? [06:29] yeah it is [06:29] but additionally, we need people for artwork and stuff like that still too [06:29] alsadk, its not native to all platforms however [06:30] is it like java/ [06:30] no [06:30] i talk about paltdform-independent? [06:30] well yes in a sense, its an interpreted language [06:32] if i wrote a prog on linux is it work on windows without having to have windows to do that? [06:32] in python [06:32] heya [06:32] :) [06:33] alsadk, sometimes [06:33] alsadk, it would depend on how it was written [06:33] you start misreading when you go nuts with something that "should" work [06:33] where i go after open www.mythbuntu.org [06:33] ? [06:34] there is a link/tab on there [06:34] for "Add to ubuntu" [06:36] i am an ubuntu user i want a programming lang that i can wrote desktop apps with it for money but with out having to have windows, which lang can do that? [06:36] wrong channel? [06:36] try the google [06:37] alsadk, yeah this is the wrong channel for that kind of discussion. this is for mythtv related support. poke around in #ubuntu, and #python if you are looking to use python [06:37] and like Tuv0k look a little online [06:38] can i find u on #ubuntu or #python right now [06:38] ? [06:40] alsadk, no i'm just here working on some development things and support every so often. there are people in those channels though who should be able to help [06:41] ok thanks [06:43] whats about translating did u want some one to translate mythbuntu to other lang? [06:44] alsadk, yes that would be very helpful [06:44] alsadk, what languages do you speak? [06:45] arabic [06:45] alsadk, that would be great. the biggest area that would need help is the installer [06:45] have you used rosetta before? [06:45] thats my lovely native language [06:45] whats rosetta? [06:46] its a tool on launchpad [06:46] have you used launchpad before? [06:46] whats launchpad ? [06:47] :) [06:47] lets see if this speaks about it : [06:47] !launchpad [06:47] Launchpad is a collection of development services for Open Source projects. It's Ubuntu's bug tracker, and much more; see https://launchpad.net/ [06:47] maybe i will learn how to translate apps from video in a forum and getting started [06:48] i've never used launchpad myself to do translations (i only speak english), but i understand its very straightforward [06:48] register an account at launchpad to start [06:49] is there a tutorials or what? [06:49] hm let me take a look around [06:49] give me a sec [06:50] ok [06:53] https://translations.edge.launchpad.net/+tour [06:53] that should start to walk you through it [06:54] there is something [06:54] in arabic we write from right to left [06:55] well the thing is someone likely already started the arabic translation for the basic installer, its just another 60 strings or so [06:55] that we have for mythbuntu specific items [06:55] that would need to be translated [06:55] so is there a chance to get the boxes to left and words to right [06:55] it should be feasible (as this effort was already started for that basic installer) [06:56] okay my tuner status shows as not recording.. but when i click on watch live tv.. it just goes black and comes back [06:56] i'm having a hard time finding the correct source package though for it [06:56] is it want a whole changes [06:56] main changes? [06:57] Tuv0k: you about? [06:57] alsadk, it shouldnt be too many changes necessary. could you check back tomorrow or so, i'll sort out exactly where you would need to make changes [06:57] i need to get to bed soon anyhow [06:58] where i go [06:58] after add to ubuntu? [06:59] system->administration->mythbuntu control centre [06:59] and turn on the master backend role and the frontend role [06:59] and then things should be able to progress [06:59] no i mean the page [07:00] is there a tutorial [07:00] yes there is a pdf on the website [07:00] it will walk you through some of the basics at least [07:01] for configuretion? [07:01] yeah [07:02] thx [07:03] mysql conection fail [07:05] well that's just crazy after all of this :) [07:06] its seems like no mythtv-server [07:08] okay can someone help me with this please [07:08] mysql-server you mean? [07:08] Assid, check that you associated a video source to an input connection properly [07:09] yes [07:09] and look at your logs in /var/log/mythtv [07:09] alsadk, as long as you had removed everything (with the purge) properly before [07:09] things would have been set up [07:09] when you chose the master backend role [07:09] superm1: i did.. atleast i think i did.. it says "not recording" in the status for my tuner [07:10] Assid, well see what the backend log is saying is wrong [07:10] its usually informative [07:10] to these types of troubles [07:12] i hate it wheni cant copy paste out of xterm [07:13] you can [07:13] http://assid.pastebin.com/d6297a06d <-- superm1 [07:13] superm1: sometimes it doesnt work [07:13] ctrl shift c in gnome terminals [07:13] or highlight paste [07:14] Assid, okay your error is right there [07:14] its trying to write the file to your home directory [07:14] yeah [07:14] well does the mythtv group have permissions to do that? [07:14] err nope [07:14] there's your problem :) [07:14] im guessing thats the store ? i setup [07:15] how ddo i delete that? [07:15] i cant remove that entry to put it back to default.. delete key does nothing [07:16] 0.21? [07:16] or 0.20.2 (fixes) [07:16] err.. ubuntu-hardy [07:16] i think i got it.. d did it [07:16] did i need to configure mysql-server [07:16] yeah thats 0.21 then Assid [07:16] ? [07:17] alsadk, nope that should have been done for you [07:17] (as long as it was purged with the database removed when you uninstalled it before) [07:18] err.. how do i go up channels? i finally got something on the damn thing [07:19] up/down [07:19] or type number [07:26] sweet [07:26] now i need a proper box to get me good quality here [07:28] Hi all. I am experiencing crashes of mythfrontend when I try to export recordings to DVD. Also selecting the different steps is quite slow, but after "Create DVD" the mythfrontend window disappears. I do not see any logging that could indicate problems. Ideas? [07:29] the progress seems stop? [07:32] It seems as if someone just programmed a exit(1) somewhere. [07:34] alsadk, i'm headed to bed. if the other folks in here can't help you out, i'll be on at some point tomorrow okay? [07:34] Assid, perhaps you can try to help out alsadk, just getting started but having a few hang ups [07:34] good night [07:36] alsadk: sure i'll try but dont hold your breath ;) [07:36] whats the issue [07:36] i try to install mythbuntu [07:37] the progress stop [07:37] in mysql-server [07:37] does it ask for any setup information [07:37] im not sure of mythbuntu.. am using ubuntu hardy + mythtv [07:37] no [07:38] Setting up mysql-server-5.0 (5.0.45-1ubuntu3.1) ... [07:38] * Stopping MySQL database server mysqld [07:38] and after that ? [07:38] nothing [07:44] hrmm [07:44] so it stops it.. question is why [07:44] chown: cannot access `/var/run/mysqld': No such file or directory [07:44] ignore it.. and move on.. maybe we can start it from init [07:45] chown /var/run/mysqld [07:46] and try again [07:46] start it upo [07:47] chown: missing operand after `/var/run/mysqld' [07:47] Try `chown --help' for more information. [07:48] err sorry [07:48] mkdir /var/run/mysqld [07:48] do that as root [07:50] chown: missing operand after `/var/run/mysqld' [07:50] Try `chown --help' for more information. [07:54] i said mkdir [07:54] i did [07:54] that error is chown [07:55] chown: missing operand after `/var/run/mysqld' [07:55] Try `chown --help' for more information. [07:56] whats chown: missing operand after `/var/run/mysqld' [07:56] chown is to change ownership [07:56] type this [07:56] sudo mkdir /var/run/mysqld [07:56] i did its work [07:57] chown: missing operand after `/var/run/mysqld' [07:57] Try `chown --help' for more information. [07:59] sudo chown root /var/run/mysqld [07:59] worked [08:02] * Stopping MySQL database server mysqld [ OK ] [08:02] okay now start it [08:02] how ? [08:02] its not finished [08:03] so whats on the screen [08:03] blank box [08:03] black box blankng [09:36] I'm trying to get my ATI Remote Wonder working. Keypresses are being sent, but my mappings file is being ignored. So somethings work, but others don't. As an experiment I tried remapping 1 to | so that 1 (which does work) would send a mute command. It continued to send a 1 command. So it isn't a problem with the remote not sending out signals for some buttons. Any ideas? [13:01] i want the configration for mythbuntu control center [13:01] ? [14:47] Does anyone here have a HDHomeRun? [14:48] I am wondering if it would be wise for me to get one. At the moment I do not have a HDTV but I think I will in a couple of months. But I want to build my MythTV. A HDHomeRun can grab analog channels from cabletv, right? [14:57] no, HDHomrun is HD only [14:57] you could just have a regular analog tuner and an HDHR tho [14:58] just get a regular happauge 150 [14:58] or 500 if you need a dual tuner [15:14] I bought a PVR500 recently for $170. I want to return it if I get something for HD. I guess I could return the PVR500 and get a PVR150 and then get the HDHR. [15:40] naw... keep the 500 [15:40] then you can watch and record on analog at the same time [15:40] a 500 is just two 150s put together into 1 card [15:41] i just have a 150 myself. so if i'm recording something, i can't watch another channel while it's recording [16:33] hey guys [16:33] is mythvideo broke in trunk? [16:33] the last trunk build had a similar issue [16:33] in videosetup [16:33] video manager, even [16:35] when you try manually entering imdb number, either from the menu or after the auto search fails you cant type the imdb number [16:36] its like the cursor isnt in teh raised window [16:36] reproduceable on two frontends [16:36] is anyone else seeing this? [16:37] negative [16:37] although I don't use that particular feature to hat extent [16:44] yes its a bug [16:44] video-ui.xml needs changing [16:53] is there a bug with the current dpms settings? mythtv normally turns dpms on when in the menus (for obviouse reasons), but it does not seem to disable it when in livetv anymore [16:54] on the most current mythbuntu release [18:19] how do I delete 'one' video source from the mythtv-setup? [18:19] seems the only option is to delete all? [18:20] hit d [18:20] thanks [18:21] I knew it was there somewhere [18:21] nice bunch of myth updates today [18:21] Im just very very tired today [18:21] more on their way soon [18:21] sweet! [18:21] where can I see these updates? [18:21] the next batch should be a performance bump too hopefully [18:21] sebrock, Tuv0k is on hardy [18:21] launchpad? [18:21] check synaptic? [18:22] alright [18:22] oh [18:22] sorry [18:22] waiting got the final there [18:23] I could use performance updates [18:24] once the next set hits the archive, should be able to master a new alpha disk [18:29] mm.. I got a PVR-500 with 2 tuners. I have sucessfully added the two analog tuners, but now I would like to add one of the S-VIDEO inputs. But backend complains when starting saying it cant find inputs for the capturecard... [18:30] anyone knows how to add the SVIDEO correctly? [18:32] or is it not possible to have both S-VIDEO and Analog Tuner on /dev/video0 at the same time? [18:35] one or the other [18:39] so it's not possible to configure this so all inputs on the card, 2x analog tuners and 1 S-VIDEO work at the same time? [18:41] actually there is 2 physical s-video inputs and one analog input, all sharing 2 tuners? [18:42] so I guess I have to change one of my analog capture-lines to a SVIDEO then? [18:44] myth weather is odd [18:44] it won't take numbers to accept zipcodes for setting area [18:44] bogus characters appear instead of numbers [18:44] I thought mythweather was kinda broke [18:46] yeah, it was fine the way it was, now, I have to set the location for each screen myth weather displays [18:46] inefficient [18:49] superm1: am I right about the above statement, just so I dont try this all night (I get obsessed sometimes) [19:05] sebrock, yeah [19:05] ok tnx [19:05] sebrock, you can only have two things going at one time [19:13] mythhfilm does not return control of then frontend, leaving only, blue screen of death [19:14] ignyte is the cause [19:15] ok, mythweather does not work at all here [19:16] resulting in a frontend crash [20:51] hello [20:51] ? === croppa_ is now known as croppa [21:59] beuller? [22:02] join #mythtv-users [22:15] Hey all [22:15] Can I designate certain tuners for PIP? [22:18] wotten: i have never seen a setting for that but I'm pretty sure it takes next available so the ordere you add the tuners in will make a diff [22:19] guess its only an issue if u have sd and hd tuners or diff sources for em [22:19] I have 3 DVB tuners and 1 analog tuner..... [22:20] I want to keep the analog tuner out of the mix [22:21] the only way I know of doing that is by adding the analog tuner last so it has the lowest priority [22:21] but their might be other ways [22:52] all I cant seem to figure out how to properly set permissions so that I can setup a share and copy files to my videos directory [22:53] all I want to do is copy my videos from windows share to mythbuntu disk or videos folder [22:57] how do i set permission on the folder so that mythtv user and alexvd have full read and write [22:57] I guess I would need to be able to give others read and write [22:58] I did a sudo chown mythtv:alexvd /var/lib/mythtv/videos [22:58] that set the group and user [22:59] then i did sudo chmod 755 to /var/lib/mythtv/videos but that doesnt give read write it only gives read only and nothing for others [23:03] alexvd, chmod 775 /var/lib/mythtv/videos should do it [23:03] along with the correct ownership [23:03] look what user is creating the files [23:03] you can always chmod 777 it if you dont care about any permissions on it whatsoever too [23:03] superm1: yeah I was doing 755 [23:03] i just did 777 [23:03] and it also worked but i dont think i want to leave that [23:06] wow its horribly slow via ssh [23:19] Any particular reason why I can't download mythbuntu from mythbuntu.org? :P [23:20] And, is there any way to install mythbuntu by bootstrap? [23:24] i was able to vnc into my mythbox now i can't i get the following error "no password configured for VNC auth [23:35] does anyone have a mirror for an amd64 iso? I can't download it from mythbuntu.org [23:35] (or a torrent file) [23:38] evening all [23:39] looking for a little help. had my remote (mceusb2) working after installation, and attempted to get a serial irblaster to work and broke it [23:39] i dont even see any ouptup from an irw as root [23:39] output rather [23:53] nobody with a torrent file handy? [23:58] nm, for some reason I can download the iso just fine in IE, but not in firefox...
