[02:39] odd problem here my tv guide shows "unknown" for all channels and dates [02:39] how can i update the guide from command line [04:02] hey kids someone want to help me with an experiment? [04:05] hey like what [04:05] okay so here's the low down. [04:05] network manager comes up a little later than mythbackend does in some cases [04:05] so people run into issues on slave backends [04:06] or when they have say a hd home run [04:06] so i was proposing an if-up-down script that would restart mythbackend if it caught networkmanager playing funny business. [04:06] follow that? [04:06] yeh [04:07] i just got my HDHR working like 2 hours ago [04:07] does that affect you at elver? [04:07] ever even [04:07] i have seen it yet [04:07] i am using dhcp direct connect [04:08] okay very good [04:08] but i was reading about it may be a issue [04:08] so you still use network manager then right? [04:08] yeah [04:08] okay then i'm going to have you drop this script in place [04:08] and restart the machine [04:08] if mythbackend comes up right, nothing broke [04:08] if it didn't, u can remove the script [04:08] and pretend like it never happened [04:08] okay [04:08] http://paste.ubuntu.com/5354/plain/ [04:08] heh [04:09] save it as [04:09] /etc/network/if-up.d/mythtv-backend [04:09] and be sure to mark it executable (chmod +x) [04:11] alright going to reboot brb [04:20] okay back [04:20] myth-backend started up [04:20] npurciful, okay great so no harm or foul [04:20] and hdhr works and all === keescook_ is now known as keescook [04:32] thanks [04:36] am i the only one that keeps getting disconnected here [04:40] nope [04:43] i was just thinkin maybe i foobar'd my internet settings [05:10] dang, i cant seem to get my ir to work on HDHR === Cackette` is now known as Cackette [06:25] everyone....make sure to ignore superm1 [06:25] :) [06:35] rhpot1992!!! [06:55] tgm4883_laptop: ! [08:59] Does anyone here know where i can get mythbuntu graphics? [09:01] famicom, bzr [09:01] ? [09:01] code.launchpad.net/~mythbuntu [09:01] all the code and graphics are stored there [09:02] ah [09:02] bazaar [09:03] now if you'd like to help with any of the graphics, we are quite open to ideas :) [09:04] actually, im trying to setup mythbuntu.nl [09:04] what's that? [09:04] er what's that gonna be better yet [09:04] dutch website dedicated to dutch TV and mythbuntu [09:04] ah neat [09:05] yeah [09:05] hopefully i can centralize all the info that i gathered to get my own box working there [09:05] well all artwork is kept in those branches, and any images available on the website are already available at full resolution from the website [09:05] as well as posting transponder lists and xmltv listing [09:05] so hopefully that should be enough to get you going [09:05] yeah [09:06] allthough for the most part, i gotta get motivated enough to like [09:06] write content [09:06] haha [09:06] yeah i know that feeling [09:06] yeah [09:06] so my primary concern is getting that motivation [09:07] well once you're up and running let me or another person on ~mythbuntu know and we can link to you from mythbuntu.org [09:07] sure [09:08] what exactly do you define as "running" [09:09] also, is there any chance i could get a raw listing of the current mythbuntu site content [09:09] something people will find "useful" [09:09] you'll have to ask Daviey about that [09:09] * Daviey looks in [09:10] okay if Daviey's already up, i should really be in bed. [09:10] :) [09:10] heh [09:10] ah, so you guys are the big cheeses? [09:10] 9:10am [09:10] mmm cheese. [09:10] but yes [09:10] we are all rotten cheese [09:10] cause if so, i use mythbuntu pretty much daily and i've worked on OSS projects before [09:10] so yeah, i want to be a part of this [09:10] okay well i'll let Daviey take over at this point, i'm headed to bed, 3:11am :) [09:11] ah yeah [09:11] well [09:11] i've been up for erhm [09:11] 2 days now :X [09:11] but yeah goodnight [09:11] night [09:11] superm1: sleep well [09:11] so Daviey [09:11] you happen to be one of the larger sized dairy products correct? [09:12] wassup? [09:12] meh [09:12] not that that much [09:12] kinda trying to get enough motivation to start writing [09:14] I'm still nto sure if i should write in dutch or english [09:16] english++ [09:16] yeah, i was thinking the same thing [13:14] Hey guys, having some issues with my DViCO IR, anyone care to offer some insight? === MythbuntuGuest15 is now known as Nasha [15:15] hello, i cant seem to get my IR to work on HDhomerun, anyone willing to help [15:25] npurciful: have you tried posting in the forums about it? [15:28] mo not yet [15:29] i tried seaching [15:29] I'd try that, you would have better luck getting a response in there than in here [15:29] i thinking the signal isnt even making it out of my hdhr [15:30] unless you can find someone in here who has a HDHR [15:30] you can try #mythtv-users as well [15:31] well superm1has one [15:32] guess he isnt in right now [15:32] ive never used the ir in mine [15:32] there is how to somewhere for it [15:32] that involves setting up lirc for udp [15:32] i want to say [15:33] yeah, hdhomerun set /ir/target ":5000 no_clear" [15:33] the start lircd in udp mode, be it never gets the signal [15:38] wireshark it [15:39] i have a usb reciever [15:40] i just wanted to use the builtin on that was already there [15:40] okay getting wireshark [16:04] okay wire shark is like: 98 1136.301807 Silicond_01:26:e6 Broadcast ARP Who has 127.0.0.1? Tell 192.168.0.2 [16:15] hah, got it to work [16:16] nope just kidding usb recevier was pugged in [16:18] okay now it is working thanks for the tip on wireshark superm1! [16:23] brb going to reboot see it still works [16:33] good deal it still works [17:24] I have tried everything I know how to, but I still can't get my box to connect to my wireless network reliably. Using WPA2 on a WRT54G with an Atheros AR5212/AR5213 card. NetworkManager worked reliably, but I'd prefer to avoid having to put in the password to unlock the keyring every boot. [17:25] I've tried setting it up by hand in /etc/network/interfaces and by using gnome-network-preferences. [17:25] Any suggestions? [17:25] Viaken: when you set it up in /etc/network/interfaces you need to make another file, let me check my box [17:27] Viaken: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=263136 [17:27] thats how mine is done [17:28] actually this is a better link: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=202834&highlight=wpa+supplicant+wext [17:29] Ah! Figures there'd be something I was missing. :) [17:30] you can put a wep right into interfaces [17:30] but wpa needs the wpa_supplicant file [17:32] It would be nice if mythbuntu could include network-manager with some sort of automatic connection once you set it up [17:33] whaddayamean [17:33] frank_ I believe there was some sort of method of bypassing the password prompt, but I think it broke in gutsy [17:33] I've always just done my work in network/interfaces so I'm not really sure other than what I've read on the wiki [17:35] call me lazy but it really frustrates me to edit files to setup networking ;-) [17:35] frank_: why would you do that ? NMapplet works fine [17:36] adaptr: is it installed in mythbunt? [17:36] mythbunut? [17:36] I think so? [17:36] mythbuntu there [17:36] just enable xubuntu desktop and you'll have a full desktop with applications [17:36] running mythtv without a desktop is a pain [17:37] adaptr: not really [17:37] yes, really [17:37] Yeah but I don't have a wired connection to install that after a mythbuntu install [17:37] oh , I could SSH and arrange it to my liking, but there's still quite a bit of cusomization required [17:37] frank_: you can install anything over wifi [17:38] adaptr: I prefer to do everything in ssh [17:38] mplayer config, mounting my half a dozen NASen [17:38] drop those NAS into /etc/fstab [17:38] running like a baby to IMDB as soon as I start wondering about something :) [17:38] then they will mount on boot [17:38] rhpot1991_laptop: I need to set them up ONCE [17:38] duh [17:39] plus, the audio "player" is utter crap and unusable - my brain needs amaroK [17:39] rhpot1991_laptop: What I can't do: Install mythbuntu, set up networking with WPA using gui with the packages installed [17:39] all my mythboxes are only attached to TV's though, so I don't go using them for anything else [17:51] It seems gnome-network-preferences keeps setting wpa-proto as WPA instead of RSN... [17:51] Regardless of which WPA version I choose in the GUI> [17:51] Viaken: there is a file you need to delete [17:51] delete? [17:51] superm1 knows what it is [17:51] ya gnome saves that stuff somewhere, you need to delete it [17:51] ah [17:51] its somewhere under a .g* folder [17:51] ~/.config somewhere, maybe? [17:51] ah [17:52] there is a profiles folder and you need to find the one that applies to that and get rid of it [17:52] Thanks for the help. :) [17:52] backup first [17:52] Of course [17:52] incase you delete too much [17:52] I usually "mv .folder{,.old}" [19:05] OH! You mean the mythtv user needs READ rights, as well as execute, in order to use the directv.pl script? :P So that's why the recordings were failing! *facepalm* [19:15] I bumped into two issues when ripping a DVD, don't know if I should report the issues somewhere? === kjetil_ is now known as KjetilK [19:16] the path was /var/lib/mythtv/videos/ in one config and /var/lib/mythtv/video/ in another [19:19] and then, I had no script to start mtd [19:27] When is automated transcoding supposed to take place? [19:27] Nevermind... *goes to search the dogs* [19:27] docs* [19:27] o.o [19:54] wtf [19:54] xD [20:21] hey superm1 you around [22:36] got a problem with my pvr-150, they seem to be seen and registered in dmsg log, but in backend setup it sez failed to open [22:45] i got myth to compile but have no backend and get strange sql errors [22:46] rico42955, why are you compiling myth? [22:47] its what the how to i read said to do [22:47] link? [22:48] don't remember it off hand, it's saved on other pc [22:48] well i can almost assure you that the guide is either A) Wrong, or B) Out of date or C) not written for ubuntu [22:49] i do recall ubuntubuild in the title but don't think it was for gutsy [22:50] !mythtv [22:50] MythTV is a TV framework for Linux - Instructions for using with Ubuntu at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MythTV [22:50] go here https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MythTV#head-a2f3c5d4e6ca44e289fadd6e0f4a5fbded05efa7 [22:50] i had it working before but had to redo pc [22:50] ok i'll give that a read [22:53] look familiar but isn't mythbuntu a whole distro? [22:59] it's added packages and themes to Ubuntu [23:00] what are you trying to setup? [23:06] just trying to get mythtv to run [23:08] do i need the mythtv-plugins for it to work, seeing what was in there i figured i wouldn't use any of them [23:10] no [23:10] found my problem with pvr-150 not being recognized, agin after update my grub defaulted to 11-386 kernel, just change it to 11-generica and all is well again [23:11] rico42955, is this a single system setup? [23:12] single as in front and back on one pc, yes, or dual boot? [23:20] I made a backup of my saved shows by backing up the directory. now after a new install can i import the old data so that the new install sees the files??? I can record shows currently but cant seem to figure how to get the old stuff back?? [23:21] epilido, did you back up your db? [23:21] rico42955, front and backend [23:21] do I did not back up the db on the backend. the back end was the reinstall [23:22] there's a script in contrib to do it [23:22] but messy messy [23:24] messy enough to just pitch the previous recording their not that big of a deal but I would like them?? [23:25] I'm trying to setup a combined frontend/backend in kubuntu hardy desktop. I used mythbuntu-control-centre to install the backend and frontend. Now I'm in the backend setup database configuration and it says "Cannot login to database?" [23:26] not sure what to try next. the password is the right one that was created randomly
