Jucatohahah :)03:44
Jucatowell at least you didn't give the direct link to the flickr photo in here03:44

Jucatoso I can paste it in here now :)03:45
nixternalinteresting to know that quite a few of the people I met at Penguicon found my IM stuff and have been messaging me all day long03:45
Jucatohaha03:46
Jucatoit's hard being a celebrity :)03:46

nixternal3 hours? you must have come during rush hour04:50
yuriyyeah, pretty much04:50

mathiazHi - I'm triagging bug 158341 - which package takes care of creating samba shares in kubuntu ?04:51
ubotuLaunchpad bug 158341 in samba "Samba is still a pain in kubuntu" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/15834104:51
nixternalyuriy: cab would be about $50 probably04:51
nixternalif not more04:51
yuriyyeah.. too expensive04:51
ScottKnixternal: Can you help mathiaz out?04:53
nixternallooking at the bug now04:53
ScottKKewl.  Thanks.04:53
nixternalsounds like a valid wishlist to me...what exactly are you trying to do mathiaz with your triaging?04:54
mathiaznixternal: it's not a samba problem - all the work on the samba side has been done04:55
nixternaldon't know what all is in the pipes for KDE 4 + Samba either..haven't heard much04:55
yuriymathiaz: the module kubuntu ships is in kdenetwork04:55
mathiaznixternal: it's up to the kubuntu apps that takes care of creating network share to generate the correct configuration04:55
yuriythere is another samba configuration module though too which is pretty broken04:55
mathiazyuriy: thanks04:55
yuriynixternal: so you're back from penguicon?04:56
nixternalyup04:56
nixternaltomorrow is whicked busy for me...trying to figure a way out around that04:56
nixternalwhat time are you all planning to go to the city?04:56
yuriynixternal: we're hoping to catch the rush hour purple line (is that even a good idea?) so about 10:3004:57
nixternal10:30 would be post rush hour, which is probably best04:58
yuriylast one is supposed to be at 10am04:58
nixternaloh, I am guessing that is an express train then04:58
yuriyyeah, that's what i mean04:58
nixternalya, at that time they aren't all that busy and much faster04:58
yuriyanyways, my friend and i are basically walking around being tourists, but i wouldn't mind meeting up for a little bit and having a kubuntu chat04:59
nixternalhow long are you planning on staying downtown?04:59
yuriynixternal: until we're too tired to walk :D though we'll probably go to a museum at some point, haven't picked one yet05:00
nixternalwill you be online by chance at all tomorrow while you are out and about?05:00
yuriynope05:00
nixternalor, I could just give you my cell number...in the morning and early noon I will be jammed05:00
yuriyso you basically live downtown?05:02
nixternalman, I am supposed to meet up with Phil Rodriguez from KDE too as he is in town...but I have hung out with him in the past, if I can catch up with you sometime tomorrow that would rock05:02
nixternalI am about 1 hour west of where you are05:02
yuriyah05:02
nixternalsouthwest actually...and only an hour because the roads stink :)05:02
nixternalreally only 30 miles really05:02
yuriyoh wow that's actually pretty far05:02
nixternalI live 20 miles west of the city, but I can hop on the train and be down there in less than an hour05:03
yuriythough i guess things are on a larger scale out here05:03
nixternaloh ya05:03
nixternalgotta remember the burbs of chicago go out over 60 miles from the lake front in all directions :)05:03
yuriyoh 20 miles, nvm. i'm a bit more than 20 miles from boston and driving in is not a problem at all05:03
nixternalwhat? boston driving is horrible :)05:03
nixternalyou can risk drowning in the big dig now I guess :p05:04
nixternalI am supposed to have my DB class tomorrow evening, but that is easy enough to ditch05:04
nixternalI could always trek up to NW05:04
yuriyheh. i never had the "opportunity" to drive there while or before the big dig was going on. things have certainly improved, i'm sure05:04
nixternalto bad you weren't staying until wednesday evening or thursday morning..I will be up that way anyways as I have to take my car to the dealer05:05
nixternalI stayed in Brokton for a month, and the traffic was the worst I had ever seen05:05
yuriyyeah i was rather impressed by the roads/traffic in Chicago05:05
nixternalyou got lucky then if they impressed you05:06
nixternalthough they are getting better for sure05:06
yuriywell, i'm not driving, of course05:06
nixternalbut right now after all of the snow, we have potholes you could swim in05:06
yuriybut i saw lake shore road wasn't moving right in the middle of rush hour, but other than that it didn't seem bad05:07
nixternalhehe, gotta love LSD05:07
nixternalLake Shore Drive that is :)05:07
yuriyin boston all roads out for 40 miles get slowed to a crawl05:07
nixternalthey can do that here as well05:08
nixternalwhat time is your flight on thursday?05:08
yuriynixternal: 4:30 on wednesday05:10
nixternal4:30 PM?05:10
yuriyyeah05:11
nixternalhrmm05:11
nixternalI could possibly come up to NW tomorrow afternoon or wednesday morning05:11
nixternalif wednesday, then I could just drive you to the airport as it would be on my way back home05:11

* Serega is willing to do this12:28
Riddellgreat12:28
Seregaah... one another thing: I have spent LOTS of time to insert a sound file to OOo impress. Solution: sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-plugin-base. I understand we cannot add such a solid picece of GNOME-based distro to install CD, but this issue is highly disappointing even for experienced users. Maybe we should have... erm... separate builds of OOo for kubuntu?12:32
Riddellor use koffice12:32
Riddellwe'll probably also look at using gstreamer phonon for intrepid, although I suspect xine will still be better12:32

geniiHello, a question about fstab which someone may know. A user had an UUID entry but no mountpoint specified, deduced it was his /  fs. If a mountpoint is not specified in fstab, will the system assume it's the /  ?17:27
smartergenii: I don't think mountpoint are optional17:30
smarterIf I remove the mountpoint of my cd drive I get: "mount: mount point udf,iso9660 does not exist"17:30
geniismarter: I didn't think so either. But here's a pastebin of his fstab, as you can see, no / specified http://pastebin.com/d6251166b17:31
smarterand it works?17:31
geniiYup17:31
geniiAlthough I had him add it17:32
smartervery strange17:32
geniiIf this is default behaviour, someone adds an entry above that one without a mountpoint specified, the system will think it's the / which could be problemmatic17:33
