gotamatwHi! I'm working with Edubuntu (gutsy). How can I make kde the default session on every thin client?05:41
johnny_make it the default on your server?05:49
* johnny_ isn't sure.. just a guess05:49
johnny_via update-alternatives perhaps05:49
johnny_so... anybody upgrade to hardy here?05:53
johnny_getting symlink issues with libGL.so.105:53
johnny_causing the upgrade to fail completely05:53
achandrashekarhello...im curious about the new features that 8.04 has for ltsp setup..can someone let me know? does it include setup for load balancing?07:02
achandrashekarerrmm...that is graphical i mean..07:03
johnny_don't think so07:06
johnny_mostly it was stability fixes07:06
johnny_and cleanups07:06
johnny_not much new07:06
johnny_at least my terminals boot..07:06
achandrashekarjohnny_: thanks.. so i had a disastrous junior admin cause a power outage..that i believe killed an ldap database..07:09
johnny_bad news07:09
johnny_:(07:09
achandrashekarbut i couldnt find how to fix it..so logins are slow..07:09
achandrashekarand im pretty sure its hosed.07:09
achandrashekarso i figured..wait and see what features were available.07:09
achandrashekarand as a result...not have to go through the helacious pain of re-setup07:10
achandrashekar:)07:10
achandrashekarbut we "may" just have to do that.07:10
johnny_uhmm.. backup?07:11
achandrashekarwell.. im trying to determine whether the dbase is even screwed up. the hard part is figuring it whether it is.07:12
lnsachandrashekar, wouldn't it be fairly trivial to restore a known working db from backup then seeing if people can login? ;)07:20
johnny_yay.. hardy upgrade broke my ltsp07:22
lnshow'd it do that?07:22
johnny_some firefox issue07:22

johnny_it's just firefox is the main use07:23
johnny_my hardy upgrade actually failed07:24
johnny_i'm not sure if it actually completed after fixing broken libgl1-mesa07:24
johnny_update-manager seems to think it did07:24
johnny_but it's hard to tell07:24
johnny_i had to manually edit  diversions file07:24
lnsjeez07:25
johnny_to remove fglrx crap that should have been removed when i uninstalled the driver07:25
johnny_i tried fglrx cuz i thought it would be better07:25
johnny_turns out it isn't07:25
johnny_the open source driver was better07:25
johnny_got the dual screen setup with my projector working nicely with it07:26
johnny_now.. to fix firefox..07:26
johnny_the icon is broken07:26
johnny_i freakin knew it07:39
johnny_it's too easy for ~/.gvfs entries to stick around07:39
johnny_pkill -u user.. still leaves em07:39
johnny_i mentioned this to people, but everybody said it wouldn't be the case07:40
johnny_ok.. last problem to solve before i can go home07:41

paolobHi guys! I'm trying to use a thin client where the nic is a rtl 8139D, which should work, and actually the nic works if I put it in the server. However, when I boot from the floppy disk on the client, it finds correctly the dhcp server, obtains the IP, but when it's time to load the kernel from the ltsp server, it's loaded very very very slow. Any hint?17:43
paolobI think I've followed correctly the instruction in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/LTSPQuickInstall17:44

paolobHi guys! I'm using hardy edubuntu, I'm on a client, I enabled sound in  /var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp/i386/lts.conf , but when I play a sound, it comes back on the server's sound card. What should I do in order to get the sound on the client's sound card? thank you20:18
lnspaolob, not sure about hardy, i'm still on Gutsy - but have you read the PulseAudio wiki?20:20
