[05:41] Hi! I'm working with Edubuntu (gutsy). How can I make kde the default session on every thin client? [05:49] make it the default on your server? [05:49] * johnny_ isn't sure.. just a guess [05:49] via update-alternatives perhaps [05:53] so... anybody upgrade to hardy here? [05:53] getting symlink issues with libGL.so.1 [05:53] causing the upgrade to fail completely [07:02] hello...im curious about the new features that 8.04 has for ltsp setup..can someone let me know? does it include setup for load balancing? [07:03] errmm...that is graphical i mean.. [07:06] don't think so [07:06] mostly it was stability fixes [07:06] and cleanups [07:06] not much new [07:06] at least my terminals boot.. [07:09] johnny_: thanks.. so i had a disastrous junior admin cause a power outage..that i believe killed an ldap database.. [07:09] bad news [07:09] :( [07:09] but i couldnt find how to fix it..so logins are slow.. [07:09] and im pretty sure its hosed. [07:09] so i figured..wait and see what features were available. [07:10] and as a result...not have to go through the helacious pain of re-setup [07:10] :) [07:10] but we "may" just have to do that. [07:11] uhmm.. backup? [07:12] well.. im trying to determine whether the dbase is even screwed up. the hard part is figuring it whether it is. [07:20] achandrashekar, wouldn't it be fairly trivial to restore a known working db from backup then seeing if people can login? ;) [07:22] yay.. hardy upgrade broke my ltsp [07:22] how'd it do that? [07:22] some firefox issue [07:22] i'm workin on it [07:22] firefox broke ltsp? [07:23] nah.. ltsp came up fine [07:23] it's just firefox is the main use [07:24] my hardy upgrade actually failed [07:24] i'm not sure if it actually completed after fixing broken libgl1-mesa [07:24] update-manager seems to think it did [07:24] but it's hard to tell [07:24] i had to manually edit diversions file [07:25] jeez [07:25] to remove fglrx crap that should have been removed when i uninstalled the driver [07:25] i tried fglrx cuz i thought it would be better [07:25] turns out it isn't [07:25] the open source driver was better [07:26] got the dual screen setup with my projector working nicely with it [07:26] now.. to fix firefox.. [07:26] the icon is broken [07:39] i freakin knew it [07:39] it's too easy for ~/.gvfs entries to stick around [07:39] pkill -u user.. still leaves em [07:40] i mentioned this to people, but everybody said it wouldn't be the case [07:41] ok.. last problem to solve before i can go home [13:25] hi all [13:26] do someone can help me with edubuntu thin clients and cdrom mounting? [13:27] after upgrading from gutsy to feisty thin client could not mount usb pen drive and cdrom [13:28] applying some modifications, now usb pendrive works but cdrom still not for some dell optiplex 320 [17:24] morning... [17:37] anybody here upgrade to hardy and have their firefox desktop icon go missing [17:37] i see a bug in launchpad, but it is solved [17:43] Hi guys! I'm trying to use a thin client where the nic is a rtl 8139D, which should work, and actually the nic works if I put it in the server. However, when I boot from the floppy disk on the client, it finds correctly the dhcp server, obtains the IP, but when it's time to load the kernel from the ltsp server, it's loaded very very very slow. Any hint? [17:44] I think I've followed correctly the instruction in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/LTSPQuickInstall [17:44] Hi ogra === JapyDooge is now known as Japy|AFK === Japy|AFK is now known as Japy|AFK|F00D [20:18] Hi guys! I'm using hardy edubuntu, I'm on a client, I enabled sound in /var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp/i386/lts.conf , but when I play a sound, it comes back on the server's sound card. What should I do in order to get the sound on the client's sound card? thank you [20:20] paolob, not sure about hardy, i'm still on Gutsy - but have you read the PulseAudio wiki?
