jcoI miss options and the popup menus look nothing like the rest of the desktop...00:00
jcoit's weird imho00:00
wirechief-inteljco i know you can download from distrowatch the full 8.04 with kde4 as experiemental00:00
jcowirechief-intel: I don't want kde4, I have it in a virtualbox, I just want plain 300:00
wirechief-inteljco that bad huh.00:01

wirechief-intelkano the script works fine in 8.04 and now it has fglrx00:08

_2_6502_ i can't tell you the reason really.  but the workaround is to do all idintifying by uuid09:31

Dr_willisthere are removeable sata disks.  :)09:33

user__6y09:33
_6502_drwillis: the other disk has some problem at bootup so I've to do a -rereadpt after booting to be able to see it09:34
Dr_willisfor internal ext3,I dont see why they would be switching around.. odd..  YOu can just edit the fstab, and make a perment entry for each disk and mount it whever you want.09:34

IppatsuManLynoure: you may find this article interesting: http://www.kdedevelopers.org/node/3445 - but read its comments too, I'm not 100% sure that it is correct - but it could give you some hints11:41
LynoureIppatsuMan: kind of comforting that others are frustrated by the same things. Maybe I'll just live with this until I have just one monitor (or maybe two, with same dpi on both).11:45
SyntuxHello, I'm not sure it's Ubuntu or Kubuntu question so I will give it a shot here. I'm using Ubuntu and want to install Basket but I want to avoid installing all of these packages http://paste.syntux.net/bin/32  and I'm referring to none dependency ones.11:48
LynoureSyntux: looking at it now...11:50
SyntuxLynoure, Thank you.11:50
LynoureSyntux: aptitude tends to pull down recommended packages too... sudo apt-get install basket  could give you somewhat less to install11:52
Lynoure(there is also a switch to aptitude to do the same, I think, but I cannot remember it)11:53
SyntuxLynoure, hmm well it does but still way more than the dependent packages http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/basket11:54

MSohaili am trying to rebuild kopete with jingle support. I wanted to know how I can alter debian/rules to include jingle support.11:59
MSohailhi Syntux ... hope you are in good health11:59
LynoureSyntux: looks really just the dependencies (and the dependencies needed to install those), to me12:00
LynoureSyntux: I hope you can afford the space, Basket is nice :)  (you can use deborphan or debfoster to slim down the system to some degree, if you are worried about having totally useless packages)12:01
MSohailany advice anyone? a reference to a how -to would also work12:03
SyntuxLynoure, lovely, I liked the idea of debfoster, well it's not about the space; I was just trying to understand why it's happening12:03
SyntuxMSohail, maybe you should ask in #Ubuntu-Motu12:03
LynoureSyntux: I hope this casted some light on that. I started thinking it would be nice if there was something showing a dependency map, but I'm probably too lazy to make such a tool12:04
MSohailok Syntux... i'll try there, thanks12:04

LynoureIppatsuMan: Thanks, I tried seaching with dependency graph, but no luck12:09

Dragnslcrushdfgakk- as far as I know, though, there's no reason that they couldn't be separate partitions20:17

WalzmyncYmen, I've no idea, sorry21:51

BluesKajFenixReign, what soundcard do you have ?21:51
adrock358Because when I open the installer, i don't have the option to  resize my windows partition.  it's just manual and use entire disk.21:51
adrock358it's weird21:51
RurouniJonesyou can't rezise partitions21:52
adrock358?21:52
RurouniJonesresize even.21:52
adrock358yes you can21:52
Walzmynadrock358, you can change partitions in the manual setup, but you need to make the partitions the sizde you want htem before instlaling any OS's21:52
FenixReignBluesKaj, Creative XiFi... it worked when I first installed the drivers, then all of a sudden after a reboot it failed to init...21:52
RurouniJonesWhen you install linux you can't resize a windows partition.21:52
stdinRurouniJones: most you can actually, depends on the filesystem21:52
WalzmyncYmen what are you running right now?21:52
RurouniJonesyou will need to reinstall windows on a smaller partition. Leaving space for linux after. Or use partition magic to resize the partition.21:53
adrock358not true bro21:53

WalzmyncYmen, are you running ubuntu, kubuntu, windows?21:53
adrock358i can't resize.  wonder what to do21:54
KR-dataas far as I know parted can do the job, even with ntfs, but a quick google should put an end to the doubt ;)21:54
adrock358hmm21:54
Walzmynadrock358, during setup all the resizing options you are looking for are in the "manual" options21:54
cYmenwell i have debian box running the bootserver and a laptop where i want to install ubuntu21:54
yakuziJoshOvki: is it possible because i've a dual boot winXP pro with kubuntu?21:54
stdinNTFS is not really one FS, there are different versions of it and the later ones you can're resize (yet)21:54

Walzmynadrock358, but you'd be better to do your partition setup BEFORE installing your windows os21:55
adrock358stdin.  so you're aying that in some bios's you can resize.  but others you can not.21:55
BluesKajFenixReign, try this in the konsole, asoundconf set-default-card "Creative XiFi"21:55
JoshOvkiyakuzi: its definutaly possible, because i have a simular setup21:55
