superm1i dont know that it can just blast with generic configs like that02:51
superm1it needs very specific stuff i thought02:51
superm1from a remote db or something02:51
Egghead2are u talking about the dish remote? or other below it?02:53
superm1both02:54
superm1i've seen confs that the pvr150 ends up using02:54

superm1they have all these raw codes and stuff02:54
Egghead2ahh ic02:54
Egghead2your right, i have it working before 8.04, with raw codes02:55

Ward1983whats the best way to install mythbuntu on a hardy system?13:51
Ward1983is this the best way for hardy too? http://mythbuntu.org/download/getmythbuntu.php13:59
lagait's one of the better ways, yes :)14:19
cmuglets see if live works with my t61 wireless..14:32
cmugworks like a charm..14:35
slestaki am trying to do a fresh install of hardy for my mythbox.  im getting a ton on sr0 errors in dmesg, and errors on install.  I have used this cd to install on numerous other systems so I dont doubt the cd burn.15:17
slestaki do have a functioning install of ubuntu on the box now after dl the required packages from the repos.15:18
slestaknevermind, im still forming the question.  do some more googleing15:21
ward_i cant get my system to scan for hostst the way it should15:40
ward_first it found a TON of channels but 90percent of it were no channels...15:41
ward_jsut random snow15:41
ward_then everything seems to be the exact same channel15:42
ward_what do i miss?15:42
slestaki remember with my last install, there was an optio mentioning EIT that I had to enable to get a succesful scan16:07
slestakare you talking SD or HD?16:08
ward_SD16:27
ward_slestak, SD, sorry16:27

a1famy streamzap controler is also having issues17:33
a1faFF or RR dont work17:33
a1fai cant skip scenes like i used to17:33
slestakis envy necessary for nvidia, or are the repo drivers "Good Enough" for myth?17:42
slestakim speaking for Hardy, so I guess that would be EnvyNG17:42
MythbuntuGuest45hi18:07
Therock_do any body know if there is someway to have 2 "live tv" profiles, one for wired connection and one for wireless ?18:16
MythbuntuGuest07anyone here?18:47
hugolpno18:48
hugolpwe are all bots18:48
MythbuntuGuest07thats ok :-)18:50
sabhainslestak, no .. envy shouldn't be needed.  In 8.04 the latest proprietary drivers seem quite stable.  I've built 3 FE's with it in the past 2 weeks, and the proprietary loads nicely and runs SD & HD playback quite well18:51
MythbuntuGuest07any bot could help me to mount permanently a windows share to my mythbuntu client :-)??18:51
slestaksabhain: tyvm18:52
slestakis there a good answer for myth hd to lcdtv for video cards that dont support hdcp.  i was using a dvi to vga dongle to vga input on lcd tv, but i sure wish i could use my hdmi input18:53
sabhainslestak: you're welcome ..18:56
illeMythbuntuGuest07: I think you should edit the /etc/fstab18:56
sabhainas for the hdcp thing .. I don't know it's a big issue.  I have a DVI input lcd projection unit and an HDMI lcd .. and hdcp doesn't get in the way of either.  HDCP really only matters if you're trying to capture the output of a DVD player or a cable STB18:57
sabhainsince you're using a tuner card and scanning for channels .. it should be a non-factor (I think .. )18:57
sabhainif you have DVI out of your nvidia, you ought to be able to just get an adapter from dvi to hdmi, right?  I know I have the reverse on hand here.  The catch will be you still need to run separate audio since the audio doesn't get sent through DVI18:58
slestaki was just assuming that was my issue.  when i connect my mythbox to my vizio hdtv via a dvi - hdmi cable, I get a blue screen.  i just assumed that it was hdcp18:58
slestaki was previously using a radeon 9600 w dvi out.  ive just replaced it with an nvidia gt6200 so I can get xvmc18:59
sabhainslestak, .. hmmm not sure what to make of that.  What version of ubuntu are you running?18:59
slestakthat instance was gutsy woth 20.2 then 21 backport.  i am currently working on a fresh install of hardy xubuntu19:00
slestakhavent gotten very far on it though19:00
illeslestak: I also have a 6200 card , do have a flickering OSD when enabling XvMC?19:01
illeslestak: CPU load goes from 60% to 25% playing SD on my old AMD19:02
sabhainslestak, have you gotten to the stage of running nvidia-settings (as root / sudo) to setup the LCD on the system?19:02
sabhainI'19:02
slestaki had a complete inability to view most recorded contrent with my old 9600 + gutsy rig.  i assumed it was ati drivers (tried fglrx and others)19:02
slestakhoping that going to nvidia will get better performance.19:03
sabhainI'm curious as to perhaps there may be just a modeline issue w/ nvidia that you need to clear up19:03
illeslestak: what res do you use on the LCD?19:03
slestakno, because of an intel chipset issue and a cdrom, i have not gotten x running on it19:03
illeslestak: the native res?19:03
slestakille: have tried numerous, prob not native res, that is like 1366xsth19:03
slestakdo you guys use the native res?19:04
slestakwasnt sure if my 128M ati 9600 could push that resolution19:04
slestaki think i was using 1024x768 last19:04
illeslestak: my is 32" is 1366x768 but is only running at 1360x768 pixel mapped.19:04
slestakmaybe 1200 x 80019:04
slestakcould I get a copy of your xorg.conf19:05
illeslestak: sure!19:05
slestakmaybe pastebin it19:05
illeslestak: http://pastebin.com/m78b01d019:07
slestakthanks.19:08
slestakwhat lcd tv do you have?  ive got a vizio.  anyone using a dvico hdtv 5 gold?19:08
illeslestak: an 2.5 year old LG LX219:09
MythbuntuGuest07fuck i couldnt install any software, no smbclient no smbfs, is archive.ubuntu down?19:10
slestakthe goal though is to get 1360x768 rendered so there will not be any scaling occuring?19:10
slestakMythbuntuGuest07: its been like a yoy at least since yesterday19:10
slestakyoyo19:10
MythbuntuGuest07and how to install smbclient now :-)?19:11
MythbuntuGuest07im a linux noob :-/19:11
illeslestak: yes, 1360x768 is really great looking.19:12
sabhainslestak, my approach would be to get Xorg up and running on a monitor first before moving over to the LCD .. separate the 2 issues .. but that's me.19:13
slestaksabhain: that will work, I have both.  do you think i will be able to use 1360x768 over vga input?19:16
slestakMythbuntuGuest07: wait for it to come up, try again in a few minutes.  or you can change your repos to a different country.  are you in us?19:19
sabhainso long as your monitor can accept that mode.  my thought is to just GET X RUNNING first with your hardware setup.  Once you can get X running, using the nvidia driver .. install the nvidia-settings package to configure it .. after you get the basic Xorg running on the right driver, then the nvidia-settings makes setup of TV / resolutions a snap.19:20
sabhainMythbuntuGuest07, try Mexico .. the past week or so since 8.04 LTS was released, I've found that mirror to have far fewer timeouts and delays than the US mirrors.19:21
deviantintegralis there a way to make mythvideo treat a folder as an item? I would like to have directories with all of the files / covers for each video so they are easy to move as a package19:33
MythbuntuGuest07so now i have a question20:04
MythbuntuGuest07in media, i can give mythbuntu the source of my videos20:04
jarleI am in the process of compiling mythtv on a new ubuntu system, and again I have to figure out which pacakages I need to install... any help?20:05

MythbuntuGuest07and if the video folder is a mounted folder?20:06
MythbuntuGuest07my mountpoint is for example mnt/video20:06

MythbuntuGuest07and in the normal frontend i could play my videos and see my subfolders20:06
pdragonyep20:06
MythbuntuGuest07but in mythtv frontend20:06
MythbuntuGuest07i gave him as source mnt/video20:07
MythbuntuGuest07and he says no files20:07
pdragonyou have to go to setup and scan the videos folder first20:07

pdragonthere's a setting so it automatically tries to scan the videos folder when you browse it, but it doesn't keep it 100% current all the time20:08
MythbuntuGuest07mmm20:11
MythbuntuGuest07so20:11
MythbuntuGuest07i tried20:11
MythbuntuGuest07but he says20:11
MythbuntuGuest07no files20:11
pdragondid you set the videos folder to your mounted location in the setup?20:22
MythbuntuGuest07so20:25
MythbuntuGuest07n0ow it works fine :-)20:25
MythbuntuGuest07im stupid20:25
MythbuntuGuest07this board has 2 network cards20:25
MythbuntuGuest07and sometimes he take the first sometimes he take the second20:25
MythbuntuGuest07now i deactivate the second20:25
MythbuntuGuest07and now it works20:25
MythbuntuGuest07all but optical sound output :-/20:25
MythbuntuGuest07any ideo to activate it?20:26
pdragonrun alsamixer and unmute iec95820:29
pdragonjust select it and hit "m" to change the MM to zeros i think20:29
pdragonthen you have to go in the setup (i don't remember exactly where) and change the sound output to ALSA:spdif20:30
pdragonand turn on the two spdif filter options20:30
MythbuntuGuest07where i can run alsamixer20:31
pdragonfrom the command line20:31
pdragonssh in or start one up on screen20:31
pdragonif that's unmuted properly, you should get light coming out the optical connector20:32
pdragonhttp://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Configuring_Digital_Sound_with_AC3_and_SPDIF20:33
pdragoni honestly didn't have to do anything with any config files20:33
pdragoni just unmuted it and did the " Configure MythTV for Digital Sound" section and it worked20:33
pdragonI had to change mine to ALSA:spdif not ALSA default tho20:34
MythbuntuGuest07mmm20:37
