blistov_oic. it automatically does get enabled after i manually enable it once.04:25
blistov_woop.04:25
blistov_I'm so torn between gentoo and kubuntu.04:26

Pennycookshane_2_peru: I'm running KDE4 and it's stable. It might not be as complete as you'd like, though; lots of the applications you run are actually KDE3 and there aren't many widgets for the desktop, etc15:02

tekteenDinithion: lol18:50

leftbasapparently i can't remember my password21:36
leftbashow do i change it? :(21:36
leftbas!password21:37
ubottuForgot your password? Boot into recovery mode. What's the root password? See !sudo. Don't see *** in password prompts? That's normal. Sudo doesn't ask for your password? It remembers you for several minutes. Please use strong passwords, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/StrongPasswords21:37
leftbasthat's not the help i need...i just wanna reset my password on freenode...anyone know how?21:39

katatsumuriHello all :-) I have a question regarding the window "Hardware Drivers" that is popping up every now and then, especially when some programs are started. I'm using a proprietary driver for my nvidia graphics card, but is it possible to configure so that it doesn't pop up?23:33
franciscodvegag que tarjeta tienes23:33
mountain-linuxHello out there. After install of 7.10 did the update, now my tty1 - tty6 do not work. How can i fix this? How to get the virtual terminals back?23:37
mountain-linuxjust tty7 works.23:37
mountain-linuxjust tty7 works. For the KDE, this is what i'm using right now.23:38
mountain-linuxHow can i get the ctrl-alt -- f1-f6 back?23:40
Steve-calIn Adept Manager, how do I show the packages that need to be upgraded? If I just check "upgradable packages" and "upgrade requested" it doesn't show any packages, even tho at the bottom it claims there are 90 upgradable packages.23:40
mountain-linuxjust ctrl-alt -- f7 works.23:40
mountain-linuxwhen i boot in recorvery mode tty1 is active.23:41

wordSooo..kde4..whats the new location for file and system settings?23:48
jooojhow can you upgrade Kubuntu from the command line23:49
wordjoooj: sudo apt-get dist-upgrade23:50
wordalthough that is pretty prone to problems..23:50
jooojhow can you see what distribution you're running?23:53
ugaword: uh? it's less troublesome than gui apps, that fail to do properly those packs that require commandline assistance for configuring23:54
ugajoooj: type "lsb_release -a"23:54
worduga: that i've seen big improvements with over time but the command line reliability has stayed about the same, and i've had it suggest removing the kernel a few times without bothering to install another :P23:55
mountain-linuxHello out there. After install of 7.10 did the update, now my tty1 - tty6 do not work. How can i fix this? How to get the virtual terminals back?23:55
ugaword: well, and the gui can do the same, right?23:55
mountain-linuxjust tty7 works. For the KDE, this is what i'm using right now.23:55
ugaword: the guis are just frontends to apt-get23:55
mountain-linuxjust ctrl-alt -- f7 works. All other screens are blank, no signal on monitor23:55
mountain-linuxHow can i get the ctrl-alt -- f1-f6 back?23:55
wordmost are frontends with brains though and since they're designed to do a specific function most of the time they make sure it gets done right23:56
jooojI am running Kubuntu 6.06 when I type apt-get dist-upgrade, nothing happens23:56
ugamountain-linux: I'm suspecting a framebuffer monitor configuration prob23:56
jooojhow can I upgrade23:56
wordjoooj: are you doing it as root? and do you recieve any command line output?23:56
ugaword: I've had so many problems with guis that I never use them anymore23:56
ugaword: cmdn lines have yet to fail on me23:57
ugaword: and I have like hundreds of kernels installed ;)23:57
ugajoooj: apt-get update first23:57
ugato have latest package list23:57
worduga: command lines always tell you what they're going to do which is why i do prefer them, in past releases gui's have been a TERRIBLE idea to upgrade with :P23:57
ugajoooj: oh, you want to upgrade ot a new release?23:57
mountain-linuxit worked till i updated 7.10, now tty1 - tty6 or tty8 are blank.23:57
ugaword: guis failed here to work to hardy23:58
wordoh yah forgot to tell him to edit sources ;p23:58
ugaword: cmd line worked. The stupid packs required cmd line assistance23:58
worduga: i accidentally upgraded to hardy with 'unsupported updates' checked, my network card wasn't detected and x won't start, so i just did a fresh install lol ;p23:58
ugajoooj: edit /etc/apt/sources.list and point all releases to hardy23:59
ugathen apt-get update23:59
ugaand apt-get dist-upgrade23:59
wordthere's a command around here somewhere to make editting sources.list easy hmmm...*googles*23:59
ugayes, it's called "vim"23:59
