jptet6818please, someone can help me with a kernel module subject?23:08
jptet6818I am using linux-image-2.6.24-17-generic from distro (Hardy 8.04). I managed to make things work at the most in my notebook (Acer 5040) and everything is fine using this kernel.23:10
jptet6818Now I have a need to plug some device via usb and after google a lot, I figured out that I need the zaurus kernel module installed. 23:11
jptet6818today in my /boot/config-2.6.24-17-generic the module is commented  [# CONFIG_USB_NET_ZAURUS is not set]. 23:12
jptet6818The question is: Have I to compile and build the entire kernel because of this module or can I just build the module (alone) and install it?23:12
jptet6818I gave it a try (following instructions https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Kernel/Compile) but after hours I had generated just 2 .deb packages (linux-image and linux-headers) with the code  2.6.24.3-zaurus-blah-blah-blah and the linux-ubuntu-modules with the old 2.6.24-17 code. 23:16
jptet6818After a reboot with the new kernel internet connection and audio goes away, even if I succeed to start zaurus module after installing my device at usb connector.23:17
jptet6818so I would prefer, if it is possible, generate and install just the module I need in my old generic kernel.23:21
