pwnguinthere has got to be a way to divorce myself from baltix00:16
pwnguinim tired of active bug reports from them where everything else is closed00:17
pwnguinfor example , Bug #16370700:26
ubottuLaunchpad bug 163707 in gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg "gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg should link with system ffmpeg libraries (libavcodec, etc)" [Wishlist,Fix released] https://launchpad.net/bugs/16370700:26
pwnguinclosed in ubuntu, still open in baltix, still shows up on my lp homepage =(00:29
persiapwnguin: unsubscribe00:31
pwnguinim not subscribed00:31
pwnguinbut it does show up in my related bugs list00:32
pwnguinwhich i like because im terrible at actually subscribing to bugs =(00:32
hggdhpwnguin: it will show up in related because you commented or acted on the bug01:00
hggdhpersia, is baltix still around?01:01
=== hggdh is now known as hggdh|away
pwnguinhggdh|away: i know, but it'd be nice to let LP know I care as little about baltix bugs as baltix seems to ;)01:12
=== asac_ is now known as asac
JohnPhysmy apologies if this is better asked in #ubuntu.  Is there any way to use the kernel ntfs (read only) driver to mount ntfs partitions, without using ntfs-3g/fuse?  I ask because I would like to do so to rescue ntfs partitions that ntfs-3g cannot mount, but both /sbin/mount.ntfs and /sbin/mount.ntfs-3g point to /bin/ntfs-3g, and I cannot seem to find a command that will let me mount using the kernel driver.  Was this fea03:56
hggdh|awayJohnPhys: this is indeed better asked in #ubuntu, sorry.03:58
JohnPhyshggdh: Thanks.  Though some might consider it a bug if the kernel ntfs driver can't be used :)04:15

simihi, this bug in kubuntu hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dolphin/+bug/199393   should be fixed by an update09:10
simithe comunity find a fix09:10
ubottuLaunchpad bug 199393 in dolphin "servicemenu for amarok has an invalid menu entry "addAsPodcast"" [Undecided,Confirmed]09:10
simibut it should be send by an update to the other kubuntu users09:11
pwnguinthe good news is it's a cheap fix09:12
pwnguindesktop-file09:12
pwnguinbut i dont run kubuntu so it's not something i can test much09:14
simipwnguin: i had this bug and fixed with that , it works09:16
simibut is not nice for a user to search for a fix09:16
simii live vith this a time09:16
simiand now i searched a fix09:17
pwnguinwhat you want is probably an SRU09:17
simiand it would be nice to be fixed by an update to delphin that will fiix that file09:17
simipwnguin: SRU=?09:18
pwnguinstable release update09:18
=== LucidFox_ is now known as LucidFox
pwnguinbasically, a few developers jump through hoops they set up to fix stuff without breaking things09:19
simii belive that this entire fix can be made with one command09:20
pwnguinnot quite09:20
simiat least someone with more linux knowlege place there this command09:20
simion the webpage09:20
pwnguinbasically, someone needs to grab the source package and fix it the right way, then re-upload it for building into binary packages09:20
simiand the beginers should not open and paste in the file, just paste that command09:21
pwnguinthe trick is getting a developer to do it; ive marked it desktop-file and bitesize, which might make it a bit more visible09:21
lifelesswell, uploading a debdiff is easy for new developers to do09:22
pwnguinaside from making a debdiff or pestering people in #kubuntu-devel, im not sure what more you can do09:22
pwnguini cant help but imagine that if any of the people on that bug report knew what a debdiff was, they would have added it already09:22
simionly the packagen mainteiner can fix it then?09:24
simior anyone can get the deb fix it and post the fix somewere?09:24
pwnguinanyone can get the source package with apt-get source, fix it, create a debdiff and attach it to that bug09:25
pwnguinthen it goes through those hoops for SRU09:25
pwnguinif you'd like to learn more #ubuntu-motu regularly helps people with learning this stuff09:27
simithx, i do not know if i have the time to try learn about packages, i know some c and more c# but i do not know much about bash and linux, and i have exams in this period of time09:29

LimCorecryptsetup executed from rcS.d incorrectly input password (shows the password instead dott it out with *)  how to report this bug - against what package10:54
Hobbseeer, cryptsetup, i'd guess10:56
LimCorethis is security bug isnt it?  showing the password on screen10:56
LimCorewhich is very important (AES passphrase)10:56
LimCoreapt-file update displayed problems like:   Can't get http://pl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/hardy-updates/Contents-amd64.gz       is this a known problem?10:57
Hobbseeyoud' have to talk to whoever runs the pl mirror about that10:59
Hobbseeand yes, it probably is a security bug.10:59
dupondjenobody knows how bisect works ... and then I need to try it ... Great :(11:00

LimCoredupondje: hmm I gouess you may ask on LKML...   especially if the bug is not caused by ubuntu-only patch.  (but even if it is, they should aid with general use of the  tool)11:07
persiaOh, and http://www.kernel.org/doc/local/git-quick.html#bisect , which is probably the most useful11:07
dupondjethere are like 1000 patches since origin -> current kernel :s11:09
dupondjeso I need to try them all ?!11:09
persiadupondje: bisect should give you a binary search algorithm to try them all, so you ought find it in 10 tries. (2^10 = 1024)11:11
dupondjefatal: Entry 'debian/changelog' not uptodate. Cannot merge.11:14
dupondje? :s11:14
dupondjegit bisect good origin11:16

mnemoare you guys aware that all libsdl based games (including extreme tux racer, supertux and openarena) are broken when running under compiz???20:31
mnemoi filed this bug about it --> https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/23795520:32
ubottuLaunchpad bug 237955 in compiz "Gnome panel flickers through into fullscreen SDL games" [Unknown,Confirmed]20:32
mnemomy guess is that A LOT of other games are also affected by this flickering bug20:32
mnemoso this 1 bugfix can potentially fix problems in tons of packages simultanously20:33
pwnguin_so this is fullscreen only stuff20:35

mnemoim running compiz with the cube etc20:44

mnemopwnguin: well... i agree about compiz being buggy but it's also on my default on ubuntu20:47
pwnguinhuh20:48
mnemopwnguin: the bugs im talking about here they repro even when you boot of a live CD20:48
askandHello, what should I do if I do not know what package to file the bug against?20:51

pwnguinmnemo: supertux doesn20:59
pwnguinmnemo: supertux doesn't do anything invalid for me20:59
mnemopwnguin: did you set my a gnome panel item like the repro steps says?20:59
pwnguinmnemo: three years ago, yes21:00
pwnguinmnemo: fun tip: change the color of iowait to yellow to get an idea whether something's cpu (blue) or disk (yellow) intensive21:01

pwnguinnvidia21:02
pwnguingeforce 6600gt21:02
mnemook I got an intel x3100 card and I've already talked to another guy with a radeon card who also saw this bug21:02
pwnguini dont have a hardy liveCD handy though21:03
mnemoi wonder if you have some configuration change on your machine that causes the bug to disappear21:03
pwnguinperhaps21:03
mnemoyeah, it would be really interesting to see if the bug repros using a live cd on your system21:03
pwnguinif i made a new user, you think it'd repro?21:03

sectechcrimsun, so it would be safe to confirm as is?22:27
crimsunno22:27
sectechok22:27
sectechI'll wait until the reporter runs his updates.22:28
crimsunthe timeout can be an artifact of the reporter's specific hardware, which does not imply a bug in snd_ymfpci_codec_ready().  Granted, it's of wishlist importance that snd_ymfpci_codec_ready() be modified to wait a bit longer.22:28
crimsunthere's one more possibility, which can be tested by disabling the printer port in bios.22:29
