[10:47] Hello all. I am going to be migrating the help.ubuntu.com wiki in about 15 minutes. During this time the wiki will be marked as read-only. The migration should take approximately 45 minutes to complete. [10:48] The wiki syntax has changed a little bit, but not drastically - the migration scripts will migrate the pages to this new syntax, however I expect that it might not format everything correctly [11:02] Started the upgrade - the help.ubuntu.com wiki is now set to read-only mode. [11:04] ok [11:04] is this a new version of MoinMoin or something? [11:04] MoinMoin 1.6 [11:04] do you have a link to major changes?> [11:05] http://hg.moinmo.in/moin/1.6/raw-file/1.6.3/docs/CHANGES [11:05] and we've implemented openid authentication against launchpad [11:06] ok, are we going to need to check pages for syntax and formatting errors? [11:06] like, do we know what types of things will most likely be affected? [11:07] yes please - during my tests there were only minor problems [11:08] the syntax problems i found was with the source code blocks '{{{ }}}' [11:09] !ping | Old_Soldier , read above FYI [11:09] only on a few select pages [11:09] thanks agy, what exactly was going on with those, b/c they are used all over the place [11:09] it now requires a space after the open brackets [11:09] i.e. '{{{ code }}}' works, but '{{{code }}}' doesn't [11:11] oh my [11:11] will the docteam receive an email about this? [11:15] why not run a script that finds those type of entries in pages and fixes them automatically? [11:15] i can send one - which list should i send too? [11:16] agy, ubuntu-doc : https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-doc [11:16] i will send the message after the migration is complete, thanks [11:17] no, thank you [11:17] it would be nice if we can run a script to automatically fix the problems, or at least prompt the admin running it for each instance. i really don't think it's feasible for us to search through and fix every page by hand [11:18] Rocket2DMn: doing that right now while i wait for the data to be converted [11:18] what? the email or the script? [11:19] script [11:19] very groovy. this team has enough trouble trying to keep the wiki up to date, not to mention doing minor page fixes. we appreciate it [11:28] ok agy , its 3:30am here, im heading out. Thanks for the update on the wiki upgrades. Please let us know by email of any other problems that are likely to appear. Good night. [11:33] The migration has been completed! Please let me know if you notice any obvious issues? [11:33] I will mail the mailing list with the announcement [13:02] i'm wanting to add the elisa media center to the multimedia applications pages, but there isn't a section for media centers. anybody got any ideas? [13:03] this one, mainly: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MultimediaApplications [13:06] also, i'd like to delete this page: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Elisa [13:06] anyone know how to do that? [13:16] wallan: Feel free to add a section to MultimediaApplications. [13:17] wallan: I can delete the page, but wouldn't it be better just to modify its content. [13:17] ? [13:18] cool, i'll add the section [13:19] yes, i could just modify it [13:19] i thought deleting it might be neater... but maybe it isn't a very wiki-spirited [13:19] :) [13:19] :) [13:20] In fact, how about Elisa becomes your content, and you link to it from MultimediaApplications. [13:20] Just an idea. [13:22] what do you mean 'becomes your content'? i've added a new Elisa page here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ElisaMediaCenter [13:23] should i just link to that? [13:23] :s [13:24] agy: nice job on the upgrade, thank you :) [13:25] sommer: np - pls let me know what issues you find [13:31] wallan: Try going to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Elisa now :) [13:32] wallan: By 'becomes your content' I meant that you replace what's on it with your page. No need though. What you've done is great imo. I've just made 'Elisa' redirect to it instead. [14:31] bimberi: thanks, the redirect works. ElisaMediaCenter is a better page name than just Elisa [14:32] wallan: Indeed. np :) [14:35] :) === bodhizazen is now known as bodhi_zazen
