pepjust for people who forgot: meeting in #ubuntu-meeting right now.22:09
Grantbowhmmm...   :-)22:16
pepyou never know :)22:17
GrantbowI guess bug #1 isn't important today22:18
pepwhy that?22:18
Grantbowif it was important people would show up to the meeting if the /topic is to be believed22:18
pepyes22:19
pepthere would be more people indeed22:19
GrantbowI think it's hard to argue with a nice day on a Saturday22:20
pepIt is 23:22 here :)22:22
pepso the day is over ;)22:23
owhpep: So, what was that you asked?22:44
pepyes22:44
pepso.. this is SU intern... are you all up-to-date concerning SU?22:45
owhNot really, my Internet connection has been mostly gone for the last month.22:45
pepjust would like to get some feedback.. you're imression on things...22:45
pepah ok, that's what I thought.. (something like that ;)22:45
owh(And I replaced my N95 three times, no phone, no Internet === deprived :(22:45
pephehe22:46
owhIt's a tad hard running an Internet consultancy without either :(22:46
pepyeah I understand22:46
pepwell, I tried to put the wiki in shape22:46
pepand with that and the archives of the mailing list you should wuickly be up to date22:47
pepyou probably saw my mockup for design... it's just a proposal for the type of design, not the actual design.. having these 2 parts "browse" and "upload" ...22:47
pephttps://wiki.ubuntu.com/MarketingTeam/SpreadUbuntu/diy#head-c94f2d7b8513ef24aee314c529b1ad7b9a0ffb79 for more details22:47
owhCool. I've not yet decided how much time I want to commit to all this. My main focus is still ubuntu-server.22:48
pepOk22:48
pepgood that you say that!22:48
pep:)22:48
owhI'm not saying that I do not want to be involved, it's not like that at all, but I have only 24 hours in a day.22:48
pepah yes, I understand very well22:48
owhBut I'm available as a resource. I'm an experienced software developer, web-developer and have been building databases for 15 years. I write a mean document for end-users and I can fly aeroplanes :)22:49
pephehe :)22:50
pepfine22:50
Flannelowh: Basically, spreadubuntu.com is a thin layer of static pages so people get an idea as to why theyd want to try ubuntu, what ubuntu is, etc.  (Ideally what ubuntu.com would be, except it cant, because it has to cater to developers, community, etc)  That part of the site gets to inform people and shield them from that other stuff (which allows us to talk to them and them alone)22:50
Flannelowh: And then the diy.spreadubuntu.com is the repository for all of our stuff. Its really the main project of the two22:50
owhSo, is anyone writing content for the static part?22:51
pepFlannel: you seem one of the most concerned about the "Site" part as I call it... maybe you can complete this page I frankly neglected: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MarketingTeam/SpreadUbuntu/Site22:51
pepI honestly don't count on putting too much into the Site for now... but maybe if it is well started22:52
Flannelpep: Not really concerned, but yeah, I've been meaning to flesh that out22:52
owhThat was going to be my next question, what specs :)22:52
Flannelpep: I don't either.  The best part of it is that the site not being finished won't affect the diy part at all22:52
pepyes22:52
pepexactly22:52
owhHmm, I'm just wondering.22:53
Flannelowh: The marketing team will be.  All those people who talked about being affluent writers and stuff, we were hoping they'd contribute22:53
owhI was about to say: "I'll think about how to "spread" the word.", but then I realised that the LoCo's have been doing that all along.22:53
Flannelowh: Since the people involved with SU right now seem to be mostly code people22:53
pepFlannel: I'm not so much of a code person to be honest :)22:54
Flannelowh: We're also hoping to have people tell their friends, etc22:54
* owh is flying code monkey with writing experience :)22:54
owhs/is/is a/22:54
Flannelowh: A lot of us are22:54
owhFlannel: What, you can fly?22:55
owh:)22:55
Flannelowh: Horizontally22:55
owhSeriously, I was more referring to the notion that we should not have to devise content, the LoCo's will have 99% of it.22:55
owhThe text for the 'static' part can come from them.22:56
owhOr am I completely misunderstanding the intent?22:56
Flannelowh: I'm not sure the LoCos will write it22:56
FlannelWe can of course ask, and I'm sure some will contribute22:57
Flannelbut thats no different than you or I writing some of it22:57
* Flannel is assuming owh is a part of his LoCo22:57
owhNope.22:57
* owh has not actually looked for a Perth LoCo :)22:57
owhI've been contemplating joining the Australian one, but as I said to pep, there are only 24 hours in a day.22:58
Flannelowh: The spreadubuntu site (as I see it) is an introduction to Ubuntu (what it is, why you'd like it, how to try it, etc) which includes how to participate.  Mainly: spreading the word (and look! here's all this content from the DIY site to help) and join your LoCo22:58
bbyeverFlannel: i think LoCos would volunteer for writing content, at least a lot of the Spanish speaking LoCos would be willing22:59
owhOk, so our 'static' site needs to be multi-linguial.22:59
pepof course22:59
pepdiy too22:59
* owh adds this to the wiki22:59
Flannelbbyever: I dont doubt they would, but we aren't in the business of demanding work from people.  We'll ask, and see if anyone feels like doing it.23:00
bbyeverok23:00
Flannelbbyever: But I imagine it probably won't be a LoCo activity, but just members of the LoCo23:00
pepyeah23:00
bbyeveryeah23:00
Flannelwhich is no different than me coming here and writing stuff.23:00
Flannelunlike owh.23:00
Flannel:)23:00
owh:)23:01
pepRight... about time23:01
* pep is back to bed23:01
FlannelBut the primary focus for most of us right now is the DIY site.  It can hold its own before the static site comes along on top of it, and itll also take the most time to put together23:01
pepsee you23:01
Flannelpep: night23:02
bbyever(on another thing) owh: could you email me the MootBot log please?23:02
bbyeverpep: bye23:02
owhThanks pep23:02
Flannelbbyever: It'll also be on the official logs too23:02
owhbbyever: Done23:02
owhhttps://wiki.ubuntu.com/MarketingTeam/SpreadUbuntu/Site23:03
owhAlso done.23:03
FlannelAlright, I'm going as well.  Talk to you all later.  Thanks for the meeting today guys.23:03
owhFlannel: I stole your paragraph on that page.23:03
owhs/on/and put it on/23:03
owh"The intent...'23:03
bbyeverowh: thanks23:04
owhbbyever: np23:04
bbyeverFlannel: yes, but its easier if they're already separated23:04
owhSee you all later.23:04
bbyeverbye, owh, Flannel23:04
