[05:16] laga: any luck with those trunk builds? [05:18] odds are laga is asleep right now [05:18] ah fair enough, i'm in NZ where it's 4:17pm [05:32] Hello jasperbg [05:43] hads: hi [05:43] laga was looking at doing some trunk builds [05:43] and putting them here: https://launchpad.net/~mythbuntu-trunk-0.22/+archive [08:01] ok, now on 2 separate computers, one running ubuntu hardy and another running kubuntu gutsy, we are getting "QSqlError? Strange" when running mythtv-setup and mythbackend. any ideas on what could fix this? some responses said installing qt3-mysql, but that package isnt listed in synaptic and there isnt a qt4-mysql either [08:04] and even if im gone answer the question, Jakal will still be here [08:08] Pastebin the actual errors (the entire output) and someone might be able to help. [08:14] great timing [08:14] it just worked [08:14] or at least the setup started [08:14] the problem was that mythtv wasnt able to set up a user in the mysql database [08:15] or at least adding the user manually got the setup running [08:25] thank you in advance: I cannot find any valueable information for my problem... I have a WinTV Nova-SE2 which is stated to be supported out of the box. mythtv-setup in card settings always brings card-0 "device or resource busy" and for all other card-numbers "file not found". I did stop mythtv-backend before setup... any suggestion, hint or howto or article which could help me? [08:26] yes, it works [08:26] didnt work initially after what i said earlier, but it just took messing around with the permissions and stuff in mysql [08:30] if u want the information on how to get it to work (cause it seems to be a fairly common problem) to be archived, let me kno [16:08] hello pees\ps [16:08] any dutch people in here ? [16:08] !ask [16:08] Please don't ask if anyone is around or if it is alright to ask a question. Many people check back periodically and may answer your question when they see it. IRC is not normally an instant fix so check back often for an answer. [16:09] Okay sorry about that then I was just curious :-D [16:09] Here my question [16:10] I have an old PC where I want to run Mythbuntu on [16:10] When I connect it to the PC everything goes okay [16:10] My tv Only Support 640x480@60Hz [16:10] or 800x600&56Hz [16:11] But when the CD starts of Mythbuntu [16:11] I see the first setup screen (The one where you have to selcet the language and so) [16:12] When I selecet the Option Install Mythbuntu I nevere see any screen output anymore [16:12] i think there's a safe graphics mode [16:12] try that [16:12] tried that already [16:12] same issue [16:12] what kind of tv is that? LCD? [16:12] Plasma [16:13] 42 Inch [16:13] heh. is it connected using VGA? [16:13] yep [16:13] it probably does not give out the correct edid information [16:13] yeah ...most probarly [16:13] why don't you just use a normal monitor to install, then set up an ssh server/vnc, move it back to the TV and use ssh to mess with xorg.conf till it works? [16:13] but how do i tell ubuntiu to run a atht resultion en refersh rate [16:14] because I amnot confident enogh to try that :-D [16:14] well, VNC should be easy.. provided it works ;) [16:15] yeah thats true [16:15] i'm not sure if there is an option to force the X server to VGA. [16:15] that should be no problem [16:15] there probably should be one, but i'm not sure if we have one [16:15] what is the Safe Graphics mode telling the kernel to run in then ? [16:17] VGA i suppose, but X might break it [16:17] hmmmm [16:18] okay ... wel i already tried to mess around with xorg.conf before tho get this set up running [16:18] but that was with ubuntu 7.1 [16:18] never got it to work though [16:19] maybe 8.04 will work better [16:19] shouldn't be that much of a problem, tho [16:19] so ... well thanx for the help will try to keep online maybe somebody else have an idea [16:20] I don;t know if My graphics card could support 800x600@56 Hz [16:20] Its so low resolution I guess it should be possible [16:20] but as I said I am not confident enough to change the things how they should be chnaged [16:21] well thanx for the help laga so far [16:22] you can always ask on the forums for help with xorg.conf [16:23] true on that one otherwise I could check back here === Seeker`_ is now known as Seeker` [17:41] anyone have any idea how to downgrade xserver [17:41] ? [17:45] thedarkone, you can downgrade packages with synaptic [17:52] oh [18:05] tgm4883 only one i see is newest one [18:05] i tried force version [18:08] thedarkone, oh, then why are you trying to downgrade packages? [18:10] because it would seem that the current version was the first version and in order to go back further you would have to either grab from the previous version of ubuntu or compile. Both which would probably break other things in Ubuntu [18:12] well opengl sucks [18:12] on new version [18:12] of xorg [18:12] it keeps getting black screen [18:13] i can't update the nvidia drivers to 173.14.12 [18:13] it's just black? [18:13] they don't work in this one [18:13] just black [18:13] i get sound [18:13] what version of xorg do you have? [18:13] 173.1 [18:14] newest one [20:31] In mythweb, what the hell it means when a program is listed in read in the program guide? [20:32] levander: hover over "MythTV" in the upper left hand corner [20:33] ah, thanks [20:33] Now my problem is, when I go about 4 days in the futre, it says "No Data" for everything. I am using Schedules Direct. [20:45] Hey does anyone know how to configure Mythubuntu 8.04 to automatically mount a cd/dvd on insert to a specific dir? [21:13] has anyone used wintv-go? [21:15] Hi. I'm trying to get Mythbuntu running on a Scaleo E media centre machine and I'm hitting problems pretty early on. I successfully downloaded the ISO and burnt it (it checks OK for defects). The machine boots off the disc OK. However, when I hit the menu option "Mythbuntu Live Environment" I get an unusable screen as if the resolution or frame rate is wrong. I'm trying to run it through the built in SCART connector o [21:17] jimbo: you probably need to set up the X server correctly then. [21:17] jimbo: your best bet is either the "safe graphics mode" or just using a normal monitor [21:17] jimbo, I think there are options that you can choose on that screen which will force it to run at a lower resolution. I think it has a list of function keys at the bottom which provide more options. [21:18] laga what would cause opengl mode to fail go black screen but if i restart mythfrontend it works 1 time then i have to restart mythfrontend again [21:18] thedarkone: a bug i suppose [21:19] can i update nvidia to newest drivers [21:19] thedarkone: known problem AFAIK, but opengl mode isn't really supported [21:19] i mean 173.1 [21:19] it a fx 5200 [21:20] thedarkone, envyng will update you to the latest nvidia drivers. http://albertomilone.com/nvidia_scripts1.html [21:21] i see [21:21] thedarkone, oops my bad. I only see version 169 in that. [21:22] I am actually trying to find the best way to update my drivers right now so if anyone knows anything... [21:23] envy-ng [21:24] Thanks for the suggestions. I've tried running it in "safe graphics mode" (F4 for modes). Same problem I'm afraid. (It did look like the pattern was different so I guess it did make a change, just not safe enough!) I'll see if I can get it running using a normal monitor, although I do ultimately want to get it running on the TV of course. [21:24] laga, I only see version 169 in envyng. The latest version from Nvidia is 173. [21:25] WattoDaToydarian, thedarkone: it seems that envy-ng already has the 173 driver. [21:25] laga, are you using envy-ng 1.1.1? [21:27] Hey channel, I just installed 8.04 and I'm having a little trouble getting the number keys on my MCERemote to work. Has anyone experienced something like that? [21:28] They're acting like the numpad without numlock keys. [21:28] 9 = pageup, 3 = pagedown, etc. [21:28] i'm not using envy-ng at all [21:29] laga, where do you see that envy-ng supports the 173 driver? [21:29] WattoDaToydarian: in apt-cache show nvidia-new-kernel-source-envy [21:30] hello... How do shuttle pcs stand when it comes to a backend/frontend for mythbuntu? [21:31] laga, well I don't have that package in my list somehow... [21:34] WattoDaToydarian: are you using hardy? [21:34] yeah [21:35] are you following the documentation on that website? [21:35] it's in hardy-updates in multiverse for me [21:39] Yup that's the problem, I was somehow missing that one... [21:39] wattodatoydarian eyn has 173. [21:40] Ok I didn't have my updates repos installed [21:40] still did not fix my opengl problem [21:43] thedarkone, I thought the FX series used the old driver (non-new) [21:47] on nvidia says 173 [23:49] I have a WinFast DTV1000 that isn't working in mythtv. I have added cx88-dvb to /etc/modules and mythtv scans for channels ok but when i go into mythtv front end watch tv i get a black screen for a second and then it goes back to the main screen [23:50] I'm ruining ubuntu hardy
