Rocket2DMnRAOF, are you available?01:49
=== asac_ is now known as asac
snadgebrasero sucks04:52
snadgeanyone else tried to use it to copy a cdrom to an iso file?04:52
pwnguinwhat for?04:55
pwnguinin all cases I can think of but one, simple file copies suffice04:56
snadgeto upload to a virtual machine05:05
snadgebasically im ripping an xp cd and uploading it to an esx server ;)05:06
snadgeand brasero is choking on donkey doodle05:06
snadgei think it may be due to a read error though.. at least k3b was nice enough to inform me about it and complete the operation that i requested05:06
snadgeas much as i love gnome.. i hate how kde has _some_ better applications ;)05:07
pwnguinah well, k3b is quite nice05:15
pwnguinbrasero is getting better, but theres no need to get angry when you can do what you want05:15
LaserJockI actually don't particularly care for k3b05:17
snadgeneither do i.. i'd love to use brasero05:17
snadgeif it didnt suck every time i tried to use it05:17
snadgea different bug05:18
snadgeand k3b works like a champion05:18
pwnguinthe only thing i dont like about k3b is that it seems to want to single click open05:18
pwnguintheres no good way to select things, i think it's a kde setting that i dont have by way of not installing kubuntu05:19
snadgethe only thing i dont like about k3b, is that it depends on kde and uses qt ;)05:19
pwnguinqq05:19
pwnguinin the era of 1GB minimum vista machines, i think we can afford both qt and gtk05:19
LaserJockI don't like it's UI05:19
snadgewhat i do like about k3b.. is that its difficult to fault it, technically05:20
snadgeok so its interface is a bit iffy, but at least it works05:20
pwnguinbrasero's UI is kinda spartan05:23
pwnguin(and expects users to read)05:23
Rocket2DMnwhen confirming requests for package version upgrades in intrepid, do i just mark it as confirmed/wishlist and let the package managers find the bug report, or do i need to subscribe the MOTUs or package archive admins?07:06
Rocket2DMn(not necessarily sync/merge requests)07:06
Hobbseedon't subscribe the motu!!!!07:06
Rocket2DMnlol ok07:06
Rocket2DMnthats why i ask07:06
Hobbseeor the package archive admins07:06
Hobbseei will personally come and stab you if you do.07:07
Rocket2DMnhaha alright, so dont assign anybody, just confirm and wishlist the reports?07:07
LaserJockdown Hobbsee down! ;-)07:07
Rocket2DMnnot necessarily assign, but subscribe07:07
Hobbseeevery time the team 'motu' gets subscribed / assigned to a bug, *many* kittens die.07:07
Hobbseeyup07:07
LaserJockwe don't need any stabbings around here ;-)07:07
Rocket2DMnyup re: dont subscribe or assign?07:07
Hobbseecorrect.07:08
Rocket2DMnthat makes life easy07:08
Hobbseeif you were to assign, or subscribe the motu, you'd be spamming...what is it...50+ people in one hit?07:08
Rocket2DMni didnt think i needed to, just wanted to check, thanks07:08
Hobbseemost who really don't care about the package at all07:08
LaserJockHobbsee: more like 100 people07:08
Hobbseeyou may also want to file a request in the debian bugtracker, too07:08
HobbseeLaserJock: ahh.  i thought my number was low07:08
LaserJockand considering we have like 10k bugs in Universe that'd be a whole lot of bugmail ;-)07:09
Rocket2DMnHobbsee, you  mean for requests that arent for merges/syncs?07:09
Rocket2DMnex: bug 24682207:09
ubottuLaunchpad bug 246822 in prism "Prism on Intrepid should be updated to new upstream version 0.9" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/24682207:09
HobbseeRocket2DMn: yes07:09
Rocket2DMndo you have a link to the debian bugtracker handy?07:10
Hobbseewait07:10
Hobbseenot for that particular package, it's nto in debian07:10
Hobbseeor rmadison lies07:10
Hobbseebugs.debian.org, iirc.07:11
Hobbseeso i *wouldn't* file that one in debian :)07:11
HobbseeRocket2DMn: if you've got a special interest in it, poke fta on irc07:11
Hobbseewho looks like the last uploader07:12
* LaserJock stabs Fortran in the heart and watches with glee as it slowly dies a horrible death07:12
Rocket2DMnHobbsee, where do you see that? you looking at the changelog?07:13
HobbseeRocket2DMn: yeah - right hand pane of that bug07:13
Rocket2DMnuhhh is that something only on edge?07:14
Hobbseeoh.  scroll down07:14
Hobbseei think it moved in edge, to the top07:14
Hobbsee"prism" source package in ubuntu07:14
Hobbseeit's titled ^07:14
Hobbseeon the url ubottu gave07:14
Rocket2DMnoh i didnt have that expanded07:15
Rocket2DMngot it07:15
Rocket2DMni only need to ping the last uploader if i need something special right?07:15
Hobbseewell, feel free to ask if they've got plans to update it07:16
Hobbseethey may already know about it - people often subscribe to packages they're interested in07:16
Rocket2DMnthats a pain to contact all the previous uploaders07:17
Rocket2DMn(the previous for each bug that is)07:17
Rocket2DMnif they are subscribed to it, shouldnt they get the bug report sub anyway?07:17
Rocket2DMnHobbsee, how did you determine if the package was available in the debian repos? did you just search for it on http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages ?07:20
HobbseeRocket2DMn: there's a tool called rmadison in devscripts - i used that07:20
Rocket2DMnah i already have that package, thanks07:21
LaserJockRocket2DMn: remember to use rmadison -u debian <pkgname> to get the Debian versions07:22
Rocket2DMnthanks LaserJock07:23
Rocket2DMnOK then, so for bug 246823 - that package IS available in debian unstable07:24
ubottuLaunchpad bug 246823 in gwyddion "New upstream release of gwyddion (2.10) available" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/24682307:24
Rocket2DMnshould i just respond with something like "Please sync version 2.10-1 from debian unstable" and confirm/wishlist ?07:26
aplundDoes anyone know how to get debugging symbols for libc?07:57
aplundI have libc-dbgsym and libc6-dev-dbgsym installed07:58
aplundbut valgrind doesn't give useful info for libc stuff07:59

affluxgood morning :)11:17
thekornhehe11:17
thekornthanks, this made my day11:18
afflux*yay* ^^11:19
affluxcool: yes you did, but looking at the kernel source, hardy has 2.6.24 where the fix is included11:19
coolk11:20
affluxI'll add that to the report11:20
coolafflux, any workaround?11:28
affluxcool: you're on hardy right? If it does not work, the patch either wasn't correct or you're having experiencing issue. Unfortunately I'm not a kernel guy so I don't really know what's the problem11:29
affluxcool: you could try whether the bug Leann posted is of any help11:29
coolk11:29
* cool checks11:30
coolafflux, Check my comment11:39
affluxcool, hm, I've no idea then, sorry11:40
mouzmvo: Would you care to have a glance at question 38063? It is about update-manager hanging; probably caused by an error in the local network configuration. I cannot reproduce it, in spite of having read a lot of seemingly related questions and bugs. I'm reaching the point to advise the user to reinstall ubuntu. Maybe you see the root cause and an easy solution very quickly. I don't think the user is confident to do things like editing network settings fro11:40
coolafflux, no problem :)11:41
coolmouz, bug 248010 is also similar11:43
ubottuLaunchpad bug 248010 in update-notifier "Update manager is extremely problematic - had to cycle power to kill it" [Undecided,Incomplete] https://launchpad.net/bugs/24801011:43
mouzcool: read it :)11:43
mouzcool: I mean I have been reading it :) thanks11:43
cool:)11:44

sectechWould bug #248730 be classified as an invalid?16:32
ubottuLaunchpad bug 248730 in ubuntu-meta "Ubuntu is drowning in bugs" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/24873016:32
sectechHmm actually I can answer my own question.... I'll direct the reporter to the discussion groups16:33
Hobbseeyeah, that's a definite invalid bug16:34
Hobbseeu-d-d is probably a reasonable place for that discussion16:34
Hobbseenot that it'll actually help, or anything16:35
Picibug 10000016:36
ubottuLaunchpad bug 100000 in malone "There are still too many bug reports" [Undecided,Invalid] https://launchpad.net/bugs/10000016:36
Hobbseehaha, yes16:37
PiciMark it as a duplicate? :D16:37
Hobbseewell, one relates to ubuntu, and another relates to launchpad16:38
Hobbseebut either way...16:38

charlie-tcaI'm working on a Bug #137628, which the reporter also reported to Abiword bugzilla. They are not working it,17:24
ubottuLaunchpad bug 137628 in abiword "mailmerge direct to printer is undocumented" [Unknown,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/13762817:24
charlie-tcaand it is from 20077-09-05. Do I request information from Abiword or the reporter?17:25

charlie-tcaOh, well. I confirmed the bug because upstream did accept it.18:07
