IulianGood morning.08:27
sorenamitk: So.... Where can I see your lpia magic stuff?14:33
amitksoren: clone ubuntu-intrepid-lpia from zinc14:37
sorenamitk: So... did you end up b-d'ing on linux-source?14:38
amitksoren: no, it is a a complete kernel tree14:39
sorenAh. Hm... Well, that probably is the easiest.14:41
sorenWhat I'd really like would be to be able to *maintain* it as a git tree, but have the source packages only contain the patches and then b-d on linux-source.14:41
amitksoren: maintaining a set of patches in git is similar to what binary-custom.d did in Hardy kernels. We don't want that anymore. We want these patches applied now..14:44
amitkbesides, b-d'ing will get a different versionof source for different people, depending on when they build14:46
sorenamitk: Yes, that's true.14:47
sorenWell, ok. I'll grab your stuff and see what I can do with it. Thanks.14:47
amitksoren: ping me for pointers to get your started. AUTO patches are generated in the script (debian/scripts/mis/rebase-intrepid), SAUCE are the legitimate patches for the flavour14:48
soren"AUTO patches"?14:49
amitksoren: :) you'll see14:50
sorenHm... Alright :)14:50
infinityamitk: *poke*15:14
infinityamitk: The new linux-lpia source package... Does that have any new code (licensing-wise) compared to the hardy lpia kernels?15:15
infinityamitk: Or can I just blindly accept it?15:15
amitkinfinity: no new code, it is the intrepid kernel with the debian/ dir replaced by lpia specific configs15:17
infinityamitk: Kay, that's all I needed to kno.15:18
infinityknow*15:18
infinityamitk: Accepting to universe for now, until someone tells us differently.15:18
amitkinfinity: thanks. I'll ask loic to take up promotion to main15:19
infinityamitk: There aren't any non-free bits in that, are there...?15:20
amitkinfinity: nope. Only the firmware that we carry in the intrepid tree that are freely redistributable.15:22
infinityamitk: Check.  Thanks.15:23
sorenamitk: Ok, I have the cloned tree now.. I want to have origin pointing at the ubuntu-intrepid tree, I imagine. Hm.. I've never done this rebasing business before.15:36
amitksoren: no, you want origin pointing to your new tree, e.g. ubuntu-intrepid-virtual15:37
sorenOh. Ok.15:38
amitkthe intrepid tree is just a branch15:38
sorenOk, origin is now pointing at my git tree on zinc..15:39
amitksoren: after you have cloned my tree, I suggest to modify it to suit virtual, then upload to zinc. 15:39
amitksoren: this will be easier done on zinc itself15:40
sorenOh. I followed the instructions on the wiki about how to set up your own tree, so I cloned yours and copied it to /srv/kernel.ubuntu.com/blah/blah.15:41
sorenI've not changed any code yet. At all.15:41
sorenOh, you're building your own linux-libc-dev.15:48
amitksoren: probably remained there during the cleanup15:52
amitksoren, ok. Now that it is published on kernel.ubuntu, clone the tree from there. That will get origin set correctly15:54
zulhello16:01
sorenamitk: Oh, I can get the origin set correctly manually. No worries.16:08

the_fafai had a broken 7.10 kernel upgrade from 14 to 15. it booted a broken kernel 15 and it did not put the right files to the /boot directory. just for information.. probably some of you know how to fix this.21:41
the_fafacould someone explain this to me? i had a different filesystem while that error kernel was booted.. what was it? some live-cd leftover? i mean this is serious.. whats going on?21:50
sorenamitk: Wow, that's convenient. make mrproper nukes the debian/ directory even if you've spent 3-4 hours tweaking it and haven't committed any of it.21:59
sorenOh, he's not here.22:00
the_fafasoren, i know. mrproper also erases your .config :(22:08
