[10:05] so i just updated my intrepid laptop for the first time in about a month [10:05] what's the deal with nvidia-common? [10:07] isn't there a transitional package system one can use to purge old packages in favor of new naming? [21:26] ok that was wierd [21:26] i installed nvidia-glx-177 and the welcome sound played [21:42] pwnguin: this problem affects hardy too. I don't know how track it down [21:43] well, it said it removed some modules [21:44] temporarily [21:44] maybe there was some sound queued up that pulse audio blocked? [21:45] seems reasonable if gdm were to start a thread that blocks on a mutex to the soundcard, and then something causes pulse audio to restart [21:46] but this is just wild theory that should be compared against how code actually is written :/ [21:48] tseliot: have you asked crimsun about it? [21:49] pwnguin: no, I don't know who he is [21:50] if i recall correctly, he helps with ubuntu audio [21:51] ok, I'll ask him about this
