NightGeckoI've been having an issue with MythTV's Live TV.  I cant get the sound to run in live tv at all, everything else is fine.  I'm using a PVR-250 and all channels connect fine but have no sound.  Does anyone know a way to correct this?  I can provide any onther information about the system if needed.00:08
equim-hullo, I'm having a problem with my mythbuntu box...00:38
equim-I just applied the updates from the last month or so and it wanted to reboot, after that my network interface has disappeared00:38

MythbuntuGuest14Hey everyone I just upgraded to the the latest Mythbuntu and now when I pause recordings I want to play back there is no on screen display anyone know how to turn that back on02:43
MythbuntuGuest14You know the one that says how much time is left in the recording and how much time has elapsed02:43
Belial6Has anyone gotten the CommandIR II to work?02:51
quentusrexHello. I have ripped a DVD to an iso file. How do I take the iso file and transcode it to an avi file?03:47
rhpot1991quentusrex: you don't, easily that is03:47
quentusrexwhy not?03:47
quentusrexI can transcode it smaller when I rip the dvd. Why can't I do it too later?03:48
rhpot1991I'm not arguing that you shouldn't be able to, I'm saying mythtv cannot do it03:49
quentusrexis there a way to do it with an 'exec' command?03:49
rhpot1991I'm sure there is, but I don't know how off the top of my head03:50
rhpot1991I've tried to trick mythtv into thinking the iso was a dvd, but it didn't work and to be honest I cannot remember why03:50
quentusrexcouldn't vlc do it?03:50
NightGeckoI've been trying to load my games onto MythGame plugin, but it never populates the "Play Games" list, it has once before but will not repopulate it again with new information.  Anyone know how to populate the Play Games list?03:52
Belial6Hello, I'm trying to get the CommandIR II to work with MythTV, but It fails after the first button press.  It looks like it might be something to do with the usb, as I am getting 'usb error on read = 10' before the button press, and 'usb error on read = -32' after the button press.04:13
gregLlaga: Any news on the weekly build of trunk yet?04:49
foxbuntuNightGecko, Utils/Setup > Setup > Media Settings > Games Settings > Scan for Games04:57
foxbuntuBelial6, what is the output of: apt-cache policy lirc04:57
NightGeckoi've used that multipule times, but it doesn't seem to pick up anything04:58
foxbuntuNightGecko, then you need to make sure your games are in the directory defined in the setup04:58
NightGeckoi'll verify that real quick04:58
foxbuntuNightGecko, if they are in the dir make sure the permissions are correct on the new files ou have added05:03
NightGeckois read only workable or does it need to be read/write?05:03
foxbunturead is fine as long as everyone can read it05:04
foxbuntuwell05:04
foxbuntuyeah should be fine05:04

foxbuntuBelial6, did you happen to change the lirc hardware to use the CommandIR II?05:07
NightGeckodo i need a working directory? i would think not but it is something i've left untryed05:08
foxbuntuNightGecko, no, i dont think so for the games05:09
NightGecko:/ I'm still not getting them to show up05:09
NightGeckowhenever i hit scan for games it runs through in less than a second and i have about 500 mb of game data if that helps at all05:10
foxbuntuNightGecko, hmm..are they the same type of games as the others that are showing up?05:10
Belial6Yep.  I set that in the mythbuntu control center.  Under Infrared Devices.  I selected 'Command IR :  Dish Receiver' as the CommandIR website says for the Transmitter.  I did not select anything for remote control, as the Command IR site doesn't say to do that.05:10
foxbuntuBelial6, thats alright05:11
NightGeckowell, the others that were showing up disappered when i edited the emulator's information (changed the volume level from 25% to 080%)05:12
NightGeckoand i have quite a few different games on it05:12
NightGeckothere has only be one load that it seemed to acctually pick up any files05:13
foxbuntuNightGecko, yeah...sorry really dont know anything about the games, last time I even used the plugin was mythtv 0.1805:14
NightGeckodo i need the "." in the file extention?05:14
NightGeckoah05:14
Belial6I tend to think it is something to do with USB, as I get a bunch of 'lirc_cmdir: usb error on read = 10' under dmesg before the first button press, and a bunch of 'lirc_cmdir: usb error on read = -32' after the button press, when the CommandIR II status light changes from green to red.  Does this sound right, or is that a red herring?05:14
foxbuntuNightGecko, if its like the internal player no05:14
foxbuntuBelial6, try lsusb05:14
NightGeckocool, thanks for your help, i've got a few other things to try05:15
foxbuntuNightGecko, you could sure try it05:15
NightGeckowell that was the issue it loks like05:15
NightGeckogo figure it was something as simple as that05:16
NightGeckothe "." messed up the extention05:16
NightGeckoby the way foxbuntu, do you happen to know much dealing with pvr-250 cards?05:17
Belial6It shows 'Bus 002 Device 006: ID 10c4:0003 Cygnal Integrated Products, Inc.', which is what the web site says it should.  I got the exact same behavior on the box I initially tried to install on.  I moved try to install on my primary computer to try to minimize the chance that it was something wrong with the specific machine.  Retrying lsusb, I still get the message.05:17
foxbuntuNightGecko, some, whats the issue?05:19
NightGeckoI've gotten everything set up for my card to get cable, but it picks up everything but sound05:20
NightGeckospecifically comcast digital cable, if that helps at all05:20
foxbuntuBelial6, hmm strange, I know there were some lirc patches coming reguarding the CommardIR devices, sorry don't know much more than that05:20
foxbuntuNightGecko, how are you hooked up to the cable?05:21
NightGeckowall jack -> PVR-250 cable jack05:21
NightGeckodirect as it gets pretty much05:21
foxbuntuhmm05:21
foxbuntuDigital cable? That usually requires a STB05:22
foxbuntuor are you trying to just grab the basic channels?05:22
NightGeckograbbing channels 2-8405:22
Belial6Bummer.  The web site says that I must have lirc 0.8.3~pre1 installed, and that it should just work.  Thanks anyway.  Any suggestions on where I might look for further help?  Post here at a different hour/day when someone else might be around maybe?05:22

tgm4883_laptopwell there is always the trusty pvr-15019:25
tgm4883_laptopunless you want a digital card19:25
tgm4883_laptopthen there is the HDHomerun or the pcHDTV 550019:26
PhuKerwell i'm thinking digital only cause of the changes we are all facing here in NorthAmerica19:26
tgm4883_laptopif you want to capture component, there is the HDPVR, although i'm not sure on support at this point it is getting worked on19:26
tgm4883_laptopDo you use an antenna?19:26

tgm4883_laptopif you don't have one already, you can pick it up at Wal-mart for like $420:50
DGMurdockIIIi allread have one20:50
DGMurdockIIIin the setup i have20:50
tgm4883_laptopthen you hook one end up to those plugs on your directv box, and the other end up to your pvr-150 card's plugs20:50
tgm4883_laptopbe sure to match the colors20:50

tgm4883_laptopno20:51
thedarkonhow can i keep myth video scan in progressive mode all the time?20:51
DGMurdockIIIwill there ever be a option for that20:52
tgm4883_laptopno20:52
tgm4883_laptopI may be over simplifying that statement20:52
DGMurdockIIIand i havent use the tv use iv only used online video so far but dose the tv start in full screen20:52
DGMurdockIIIand will the direct tv guid still be avable\20:53
tgm4883_laptopDGMurdockIII, stop for a second20:53
tgm4883_laptopcan i ask you a question?20:53
DGMurdockIIIoryes20:53
tgm4883_laptopwhy are you trying to build a mythbuntu box?20:53
DGMurdockIIIii have it in on a pc now20:54
tgm4883_laptopok20:54
tgm4883_laptopand you are just trying to get your tv on there now?20:54
DGMurdockIIIand i like that it has the internet radio20:54
DGMurdockIIIno not yet but soon becse the pc itius in is a too big of a case20:55
DGMurdockIIIso im going to get a smaller case20:55
DGMurdockIIIand transfer the parts to it20:55
DGMurdockIIIwhat about the remote do i have to use the remote that come with the card20:57
tgm4883_laptopno20:57
DGMurdockIIIor so i can still use the direct tv remote20:57
tgm4883_laptopin fact, i don't recommend it  because I think the hauppauge remote is a crappy remote20:57
tgm4883_laptopyou can, but you will need to get a USB IR receiver for it20:57
tgm4883_laptopand some extra setup will be required20:58
tgm4883_laptopDGMurdockIII, how many shows can you record at a time on your directv box?20:58
DGMurdockIII220:58
tgm4883_laptopok20:58
tgm4883_laptopnote:  you will only be able to record 1 at a time on your mythtv box *20:59
tgm4883_laptop* you will only be able to record one show per directv receiver that you have20:59
foxbuntuunless you have multiple tuner/directtv boxes20:59
tgm4883_laptopfoxbuntu's a little slow20:59
foxbuntuwhich tgm4883_laptop knows all about21:00
tgm4883_laptopbut yes, thanks for clarifying ;)21:00
DGMurdockIIIthe direct tv tvivo has two signels that how it able to record 2 hows at same time21:00
tgm4883_laptopDGMurdockIII, yes, but you can't output two signals at the same time from a directv box21:00
DGMurdockIIIi was just wondering that21:01
DGMurdockIIIis this better to use than linuxmce?21:02
DGMurdockIIIii like it so far better21:02
tgm4883_laptoplinuxmce is a different beast than mythbuntu21:03
tgm4883_laptopthey are for different purposes21:03
tgm4883_laptophowever, IMHO, linuxmce is crap21:03
foxbuntu+121:03
tgm4883_laptopbefore you go down this road, let me clarify something21:03
DGMurdockIIIi thnk linukmce is to21:04
DGMurdockIIIneed alot of work21:04
DGMurdockIIIlinux21:04
foxbuntutgm4883_laptop, btw...thanks for all the help getting my mythtv box working with my Dish21:04
tgm4883_laptopIf you want to have your TV and Media all in the same location, with the same recording functionality that you have now, you will need to pickup 2 analog tuners (or a dual tuner) and another directv box21:05
tgm4883_laptopyou will also need a remote, in which case I recommend the MCEUSB2 (Windows Media Center Remotes)21:06
DGMurdockIIIwill the recording seculder still work on the direct tv box21:06
tgm4883_laptopDGMurdockIII, I forgot, you will also need a $20 yearly subscription to Schedules Direct if you live in the USA or Canada21:07
tgm4883_laptopso no21:07
tgm4883_laptopbasically you are moving the scheduling and recording features from the directv box to the mythtv box21:07
tgm4883_laptopyour directv box then becomes a dumb tuner21:08
DGMurdockIIIok21:08
tgm4883_laptopseriously?21:08
rhpot1991_laptopyour welcome I guess21:08
PhuKerseems that my frontend is frozen22:35
PhuKerleave it to me to have issues... LOL22:36
rhpot1991_laptopyou should prob change your name, ubuntu rooms are family rated22:38
