Syco54645_AAOhello, i am recompiling my kernel but have only added some things as modules.  is there a way to just compile those similar to how their used to be make modules02:02
tjaaltonamitk: so, -3 doesn't work with intel too well?-)09:01
amitktjaalton: does not work in what way?09:55
tjaaltonamitk: you filed a bug09:56
tjaaltonabou DRILock() failing09:57
amitktjaalton: aah. ok. I just returned to an idle machine with apport prompting me that X had crashed :) I haven't had a chance to see if it can be reproduced. But otherwise X is working well on the system.10:00
tjaaltonamitk: ah, ok:)10:01
=== mdz_ is now known as mdz

CSX_Lappyhi there, anyone who's speaking german?14:17
smb_tpJa14:17
CSX_Lappygut14:18
CSX_Lappyaso, alles klar :)14:48
CSX_Lappydann wie gesagt vielen dank und schönen tag noch :D14:48
smb_tpCSX_Lappy, Danke, ebenso. :)14:48
CSX_Lappyhallo smb_tp, hast du vielleicht nochmal nen kleinen augenblick zeit?17:41
CSX_Lappyich such danach schon ne ganze weile im internet 17:46
CSX_Lappynoch bisher ohne erfolg :(17:46
smb_tpCSX_Lappy, Oh, sorry. Hätte ich dazu sagen sollen. Das ist binär, kein text. Einfach in eine Datei18:05
CSX_Lappyok :) hab mich schon ein wenig gewundert *g*18:05
CSX_Lappyso beides als anhang dann ins launchpad?18:08
smb_tpCSX_Lappy, Ja, und dann eben Laptop und problem beschreiben.18:09
CSX_Lappyja .. beide gleich nennen oder nur das mit der cpu ?18:10
Nafallohmm. #ubuntu-de? :-)18:10
smb_tpNafallo, if needed. :)18:11
NafalloI thought I was in that channel first is all :-P18:11
CSX_Lappyis schon :D18:12
CSX_Lappydmsg.txt und dsdt_bin18:12
smb_tpNafallo, Don't worry, its still the international channel. ;-)18:13
CSX_Lappyvendor_id: GenuineIntel18:33
CSX_Lappycpu family: 618:33
CSX_Lappymodel: 1118:33
CSX_Lappymodel name: Intel(R) Celeron(TM) CPU                1200MHz18:33
CSX_Lappystepping: 118:33
CSX_Lappycpu MHz: 1195.53918:33
CSX_Lappyjo :D18:48
CSX_Lappydacht ich mir schon18:48
CSX_Lappymuss erstma anmeldne18:48
CSX_Lappybin noch frish18:48
CSX_Lappy+c18:48
smb_tpCSX_Lappy, Ist klar, man würd trotzdem gern etwas mehr batterie sparen18:49
CSX_Lappyjupp18:50
CSX_Lappynaja ... wenn ik nich arbeite sozusagen18:54
CSX_Lappyweil neu starten ja länger brauct als vielleicht mal cpu hochtaken, bild hell und loslegen 18:54
CSX_Lappyund dann wieder cpu runter und bild auch18:54
CSX_Lappyso dacht ik mir das18:55
CSX_Lappyobwohl ik das bild nichtmal hell machen würde so sehr18:55
smb_tpCSX_Lappy, Naja dann. :-)18:55
CSX_Lappyjo, hält so ca 2,5h mit dunklem bild18:55
CSX_Lappywas man da mit cpudrosseln so an zeit dazugewinnen könnte18:56
smb_tpCSX_Lappy, Sischer doch.
CSX_Lappysmb_tp, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/26443819:06
smb_tpCSX_Lappy, Ok. :)19:09
CSX_Lappyso19:10
CSX_Lappymal al commentar hinzugefügt 19:10
CSX_Lappy:D19:10
CSX_Lappyscheiß denglisch -.-19:11
CSX_Lappymal als kommentar hinzugefügt 19:11
CSX_Lappyso19:11
CSX_Lappywie alt bist du eigentlich smb_tp ?19:11
smb_tpCSX_Lappy, Tsk, tsk. Fragt man sowas. ;-)19:12
CSX_Lappybist du ne frau? *g* sonst kann man sowas ja fragen19:12
smb_tpCSX_Lappy, Klar kann man. Bin eher oldie und gehe auf die 40 zu19:13
CSX_Lappyoh .. dann sollte ich lieber siezen19:13
CSX_Lappyentschuldigen sie bitte :/19:13
smb_tpCSX_Lappy, Ach was. Lieber nicht. Dann fühlt man sich erst richtig alt. 19:14
CSX_Lappyok19:14
CSX_Lappybins im irc nunmal gewöhnt zu duzen 19:14
CSX_Lappyik bin "erst" 24 19:14
smb_tpCSX_Lappy, Nehme dann mal an Du bist etwas jünger.
smb_tpCSX_Lappy, Danke, danke. :-)19:17
CSX_LappyCRITICAL **: GnomeCmdConFtp* gnome_cmd_con_ftp_new(const gchar*, const std::string&): assertion `uri != NULL' failed21:28
CSX_LappySegmentation fault21:29
CSX_Lappymehr kommt ni... is dann wech21:29
Keybukpgraner: I have some more information on that failure to boot21:32
Keybukit stops at something to do with a time source or clock?21:32
Keybukpgraner: "Clocksource tsc unstable"21:33
smb_tpKeybuk, That would normally be nothing serious21:33
smb_tpKeybuk, It only means tsc as clocksource will be replaced by another source.21:34
CSX_Lappyok ... ik frag mal :D21:34
Keybukthe line before is "Booting paravirtualized kernel on bare hardware"21:34
smb_tpKeybuk, Also ok. There is currently a discussion on lkml about some problems with clockevent code. But it seems not final yet21:35
smb_tpKeybuk, "2.6.27-rc5 doesn't boot on a Pavilion laptop"21:36
Keybukthis is a Dell Latitude D42021:37
smb_tpKeybuk, There seem to be things either tied to amd C1E or on the bottom somthing with fast HPET21:39
Keybukerr?21:39
smb_tpKeybuk, Sorry, talking a bit to myself21:39
smb_tpKeybuk, Do you have a line somewhere like "hpet0: 3 32-bit timers, 25000000 Hz"?21:40
Keybuksmb_tp: not on the screen21:41
Keybukpage-up doesn't seem to work21:41
smb_tpKeybuk, Ok, I am not sure you already have some bug report running. Yours was just hanging without any screen distortion? Is 2.6.26 working for you?21:43
CarlFKsmb_tp: did you want me to install http://people.ubuntu.com/~smb/bug254668/linux-headers-2.6.27-3-generic_2.6.27-3.4smb1_i386.deb21:45
smb_tpCarlFK, Actually I saw that the upstream thread continued and there is an interesting direction at the very end21:46
smb_tpCarlFK, Which i have not yet updated in my kernel. So best wait with that21:47
CarlFKok21:47
smb_tpThere seem to be problems with fast HPETs and the minimum delay21:48
smb_tpFast seeming to mean 25Mhz as fast (which is yours)21:48
smb_tpCarlFK, Ok, took that last approach and applied it to the 2.6.27-3.3 kernel on my peoples page. Could you try that one?22:39
smb_tpKeybuk, Maybe you as well http://people.ubuntu.com/~smb//bug25466822:39
Keybuksmb_tp: how do I install those without booting ? :p22:40
smb_tpKeybuk, Real question or just joking? 22:40
Keybukwell, I know for real; I need to get a live cd and boot with that22:41
Keybukit's just irritating22:41
CarlFKsmb_tp: you mean to go backwards from 27-3.4 to 3.3?22:42
smb_tpKeybuk, Probably an older and have that working kernel installed in parallel, but yes it is not a nice way22:43
smb_tpCarlFK, Huh, that was released or do you compare against the last kernel from me?22:43
CarlFKsmb_tp: from you. also, you realize you are posting headers and not kernel? 22:44
smb_tpCarlFK, Damn, too hot here. That was the reason it was so quick. Ok, don't care about the numbering and overwrite with the smaller number. 22:45
* smb_tp goes to do the upload again22:45
CarlFKheh22:45
CarlFKI was wondering how that was going to work 22:45
smb_tpCarlFK, One of those force options of dpkg, wait a sec22:46
smb_tpCarlFK, --force-downgrade Sorry for the mismatch I realized later, that I want to make sure a 2.6.27-3.4 will be higher that the debug kernels22:48
CarlFKso I am installing headers?22:50
smb_tpCarlFK, No, the header are a real expansion problem on my side. I am just uploading the right package22:50
CarlFKok22:51
smb_tpCarlFK, Just a 31°C and not air-condition but22:52
smb_tpCarlFK, Ok, is fixed now22:53
CarlFKeta 4m 52s - thats more like it :)22:54
smb_tpCarlFK, Yeah, at least with my connection. :-P22:55
CarlFKcan I file a bug report against grub-update that says "What would you like to do about menu.lst?   I have no clue."22:58
smb_tpCarlFK, The strange thing is the last update from 27-1 to 27-2 didn't ask me that again. But I did a complete upgrade this morning and there were a lot of packages I didn't look at exactly23:03
CarlFKsmb_tp: "nvidia: Multiple versions in DKMS. Unsure what to do. Resolve manually."  http://dpaste.com/75752/23:05
CarlFKI guess I can ignore nvidia for now - if X doesn't come up I can boot into 27.223:06
smb_tpCarlFK, yes I think so. For now its just to see how far (hopefully very far) this kernel gets23:08
CarlFKsmb_tp: http://dev.personnelware.com/carl/temp/Sep03/a/dmesg11.txt  38k23:14
CarlFKsame as the other .27 - had to hit a key a bunch of times 23:15
CarlFKshould I post it to bug 25466823:15
smb_tpCarlFK, Yes, please. I'll have a look at it tomorrow. 23:17
tseliotCarlFK: as regards nvidia, try this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-177/+bug/263528/comments/123:24
CarlFKsmb_tp:  in my dmesg i just noticed: [   13.701303] Clocksource tsc unstable (delta = 4398045486566 ns)23:25
CarlFKthat looks new 23:25
