[02:24] hi, installed a LTSP system on the weekend :) [12:35] boo [12:40] hi cbx333 [12:41] hey juliux long tim [12:44] oh yes [12:44] how are you? everything fine? [12:45] yeh good ogod [13:32] Hello all [13:34] I am trying to reconfigure my ldap settings but when I run dpkg-reconfigure libpam-ldap or libnss-ldap it doesn't do anything [13:36] If I try to force it with the -f option I get an error about not finding the Libpam.pm frontend [13:36] Does anyone have a thought about what might be causing this? [13:37] I should also note that I did an upgrade to Hardy Haron yesterday via the update manager [13:42] ok, I purged those packages and re-installed and now its working [13:42] sorry to bother [13:42] :) [13:58] hrm [14:48] just practising my typing - tooooooo slow [19:52] ogra: thanks for taking care of denemo :( [20:33] Hey howdy. [22:07] hi guys [22:07] i am trying to ship an ubuntu desktop with as much 'educational' software as possible [22:08] without running the whole edubuntu themed interface stuff [22:08] how do i get a list of what might be considered educational software? [22:08] i don't see education category listed in synaptic any more [22:37] holycow: Just pop the add on Edubuntu CD into an Ubuntu and click on the "Start addon installer" button in the dialog that pops up. You'll see all the packages there. [22:37] oh! [22:38] I think there might be some more packages in Kubuntu too. [22:39] aha awesome, essentially i want a diff between ubuntu and edubuntu minus the desktop themes so this cd thing is perfect [22:39] I don't like how they're labeled "Edutainment" in KDE. [22:39] yeah we installed kedu stuff as much as possible [22:39] this is cool [22:39] me too [22:40] holycow: how accurate of a diff do you want? [22:41] okay this gets as close to that formula as possible, i appreciate the suggestion [22:41] :) [22:41] you could take the dependencies of the edubuntu-desktop packages and subtract of edubuntu-artwork [22:43] oh hey [22:43] that could work, lets try it [22:54] Speaking of themes, GDM themes are scary. I've never experienced hard lock ups after changing a KDM theme before but I've had it happen a couple of times with GDM today. [22:57] It's a fresh Ubuntu install onto which I'd installed the UbuntuStudio add on and when I tried to install the Edubuntu add on, apt complained that it couldn't due to a conflict, though it wasn't specific about the conflict. A kind fellow on #ubuntustudio found that "edubuntu-desktop depends on ubuntu-desktop which depends on ubuntu-sounds which conflicts with ubuntustudio-sounds". [22:57] I removed the UbuntuStudio theme and Edubuntu installed just fine. [23:01] right yeah [23:01] we've heard of that issue before [23:01] I'm not sure what can be done about that right now [23:02] perhaps better use of the edubuntu-addon metapackages would help
