=== salgado is now known as salgado-afk [03:00] hi [03:00] hi [03:00] #startmeeting [03:00] Meeting started at 21:00. The chair is barry_. [03:00] Commands Available: [TOPIC], [IDEA], [ACTION], [AGREED], [LINK], [VOTE] [03:00] yay mootbot! [03:01] hi [03:01] hello everybody and welcome to this week's asiapac reviewers meeting. who's here today? [03:01] I have the laptop in the kitchen :) [03:01] present and accounted for! [03:01] hi [03:02] * barry_ uses his laptop in front of the political shows :) [03:02] == Agenda == [03:02] * Roll call [03:02] * Next meeting [03:02] * Action items [03:02] * Queue status [03:02] * Mentoring update [03:02] * Review process [03:02] [TOPIC] next meeting [03:02] New Topic: next meeting [03:02] week += 1? [03:02] ya [03:02] cool [03:03] yeah [03:03] [TOPIC] action items [03:03] New Topic: action items [03:03] i have none from last week [03:03] [TOPIC] queue status [03:03] New Topic: queue status [03:04] doesn't look to bad to me. any comments from y'all? [03:04] i haven't looked at the queue in weeks :) [03:04] :) [03:05] * barry_ skips mentoring update [03:05] [TOPIC] review process [03:05] New Topic: review process [03:05] I'm all in favour of having one. [03:06] we had a long discussion about pre-impl calls at the ameu meeting [03:06] cprov and i need to email the list about it, but briefly: [03:06] we'd like to include some new sections, such as the q/a plan, and an extended demo section [03:07] (the latter which might go in a user story) [03:07] new sections in the cover letter? [03:07] jml: probably for the q/a plan. Rinchen will love that [03:08] i'm not convinced the demo section shouldn't go in a user story doctest [03:08] but we'll take the discussion to the ml [03:08] barry_: as in, part of the branch? [03:08] mwhudson: yep [03:08] barry_: user stories are slow and fragile as a rule [03:08] barry_: ok. [03:08] barry_: we want less slowness and less fragility in our tests, not more [03:08] mwhudson: the way we do them, yes [03:09] we want to move a lot of what is currently going in pagetests into faster view tests [03:09] but those aren't user stories [03:09] ok, then they're not stories :) [03:09] bingo [03:09] * thumper waits for the definition of a user story [03:09] anyway, i'll save this for the list discussion [03:09] also, although I'm not sure it's relevant for these items, we should be aiming for faster turn-around of branches, and more paperwork can work against this. [03:09] thumper: the way i think about it is almost exactly like an extended demo section. usually one url doesn't cut it [03:10] I tend to use more than one url when needed [03:10] jml: i'm very keen on your thoughts about that. both kiko and i feel there's too much overhead in our process [03:10] especially for some types of branches [03:10] part of this seems like it could be summarised by saying "make sure you and your reviewer both understand the intent of the branch" [03:10] hence, kiko's push for post-landing reviews [03:11] mwhudson: yep [03:11] * jml isn't so sure about that one :) [03:11] * barry_ isn't either [03:11] * mwhudson is fairly sure about that one [03:11] but I'll think about it. [03:11] mwhudson: heh [03:11] but i understand /why/ kiko is thinking about them [03:11] me too [03:11] I think the first thing we should do is get more lean-style metrics [03:12] jml: what kind of metrics would you find helpful? [03:13] barry_: for branches, time from creation to review submit, time from review submit to review response, time from final response to landing etc. [03:13] barry_: things along the lines of the percentage value adding stuff that the Poppen*s got us to do. [03:14] * barry_ nods [03:15] a lot of the info is already there in Launchpad, and we'll only get more as we dogfood. [03:15] anyway, this is probably another discussion. [03:15] yep [03:16] that's really all i have. let me open up the floor to you guys. anything you want to bring up? [03:16] * mwhudson can't think of anything [03:16] I don't really have anything either [03:16] abentley is working towards review diffs [03:16] i hope you guys still find these meetings helpful ;) [03:16] thumper: rock [03:17] barry_: I do. [03:17] jml: excellent [03:17] I think it is important to have someone that is able to sync the two review groups [03:17] barry_: so, are you still thinking of shifting to AU/NZ? [03:18] we'll see on november 4th :) [03:18] oh right, since my flight change i won [03:18] I see the republicans are 4 points ahead in the polls (so says my local paper) [03:18] t actually be in the us on the 2nd [03:18] * barry_ feels ill [03:19] mwhudson: that'll be fun [03:19] barry_: I take it you are barraking for the democrates then? [03:19] emma will be though [03:19] i'm an independent, but yeah i don't think grampa simpson is the best thing for us [03:20] annnyyywayyy. thanks everybody! [03:20] thanks barry_ [03:20] #endmeeting [03:20] Meeting finished at 21:20. [03:20] have a good day everybody [03:20] you too barry_ [03:21] cya === salgado-afk is now known as salgado === mrevell is now known as mrevell-lunch === mrevell-lunch is now known as mrevell === salgado is now known as salgado-lunch === salgado-lunch is now known as salgado === salgado is now known as salgado-afk
