limitedwisdomgreetings. Clean install of 8.04 - can't send/rcv email. When I type mail -s Test myother@emailaddy It just never shows up.00:42
bytor4232Not sure this is the right place to ask this, but02:11
bytor4232can you do a network installation of JeOS?02:11
bytor4232I've been able to set up xubuntu live, as well as the regular netboot stuff.  However when I use the same process I get "unable to mount cdrom" error.02:16
bytor4232I'm trying to find the difference between ubuntu cli and jeos.  Any ideas?02:56
bytor4232Other than the -virtual kernel.02:57
hadsIt's all the same thing, JeOS is just a minimal install02:57
bytor4232Is cli a minimal install as well?02:57
hadsYou mean the server install?02:57
bytor4232no, the mini.iso, or netboot.tar.gz02:58
hadsHaven't installed with them.02:58
bytor4232I can't get JeOS to netboot, thats why I'm asking.02:58
hadsUbuntu is Ubuntu is Ubuntu though. It's all the same thing with different packages.02:58
* bytor4232 wonders if he need to go outside and build a boat.03:00
bytor4232Or at least put my car on pylons of some sort.03:00
bytor4232I'll just have to install JeOS and compare.03:02
bytor4232Yikes, 375.  Mini.iso is like 70103:03
bytor4232What I'm trying to do is create a netboot install of JeOS for a product I'm working on.03:04

stapelHow can I install dhcp3-server when I have no internet connection. Can I do this from the install cd?10:00
noogai've got a computer, outside the office, that runs ubuntu and it connects to the internet using ppp and gsm modem. The problem is a pptp tunnel that i've set up to connect that computer to our office VPN. When the tunnel goes down it also "damages" ppp internet connection. It looks as if ip-down for the tunnel cleans resolv.conf10:00
noogais there a way to avoid damaging the internet connection when the tunnel goes down?10:01

bendableHi guys, I've got a noob question for you and I hope someone can point me in the direction of an answer.14:50

bendableI'm migrating a server from Debian Etch (which uses init) to Ubuntu Hardy (upstart).  I've never used upstart before.  But I'm trying to get krb5-ftpd running.  The package placed an appropriate line in /etc/inetd.conf, but my guess is that this isn't the right thing to do for upstart.  So what is the right way to activate krb5-ftpd?  Is there another package I need to install or do I need to hack it myself?  (And if I need to hack it myself, 14:58
sommerduring the "software updates" question of the installer, does the "automatically install security updates" option use a cron job?15:23
sommerjust wondering because I couldn't find on the specific job15:24
mathiazsommer: my guess is that it uses the unattended-upgrade package.15:24
sommermathiaz: ah, that makes sense15:24
sommermathiaz: thanks15:24

alessivoks, thanks !22:32
Goosemoosehosts:          files dns mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] mdns422:33
Goosemoosechanged the line to that which allows the .local to work ok22:33
Goosemooseat least when i do it manually it works22:33
Goosemoosethat was one of the 2 fixes I found for the .local bug22:33
Goosemoosethe other is to turn off the service which I didn't want to do22:34
ivoksi don't know what could be the problem22:34
ivoksis there anything in logs?22:34

ivoks# do-release-upgrade -d22:47
ivoksChecking for a new ubuntu release22:47

ivokswhile running gutsy22:47
ScottK-laptopivoks: -d would upgrade you to the development release and you can't do that from Gutsy.22:49
ScottK-laptopWithout the -d should get you to Hardy.22:50
ivoksScottK-laptop: atm, clamav is working fine22:51
ivoksScottK-laptop: with or without -d - same problem :/22:51
nxvl-f always make things work, well if it has that option22:51

ivoksselect(0, NULL, NULL, NULL, {0, 500000}) = 0 (Timeout)22:56
nxvli can't make pbuilder work on my netbook :(22:56
ivoksScottK-laptop: it worked on all my prevoius gutsy machines :)22:57
ScottK-laptopivoks: Odds are, unless you've got MD devices apt-get dist-upgrade will work fine.22:57
ivoksand, of course, i have md devices :)22:58
ivoksfunny machine22:59
