=== nealmcb1 is now known as nealmcb === BugMaN1 is now known as BugMaN [14:34] newz2000: Hi, take a look at bug 270876 . Should we do anything about it? (how much is important IE6 rendering?) [14:34] Malone bug 270876 in ubuntu-website "page borders not rendered correctly on IE6" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/270876 [14:34] Hi Volans. This bug doesn't bother me but the related bug reported about a week ago does. [14:34] blank screen in IE [14:35] so I plan to fix them both before intrepid releases by converting the ubuntu08 theme to a drupal theme [14:35] oh, maybe I have missed the first bug [14:35] I don't know if it was reported as a bug, it was mentioned in here [14:35] ok, in any case, good news to make a drupal theme [15:36] hello [15:47] hola! [22:12] newz2000: I have made some tests for the help link [22:12] Volans: oh? [22:12] firefox have already a gnome-help handler [22:13] a link like test will open the Internet page in the help menu [22:13] I don' have tested *ubuntu yet, so I don't know if this solution can work also there [22:14] * newz2000 tries [22:14] it works, though that's not the ideal page [22:14] that's a table of contents, better would be the "Connect to the Internet" page I think [22:15] use ghelp:internet#connect instead [22:16] that worked [22:16] it pops up a box, "what program do you want to use to open this?" and lists only gnome help [22:17] yes, I don't know if is possible from the package to avoid the popup [22:17] and open directly the help [22:18] by the way I see another problem... the offline pages in firefox are many [22:18] so I think can be difficult to cover all teh possible cases [22:18] yes, true [22:19] but that's not our job, our job is to communicate clearly to the user that they are not online [22:19] help them if we can, but at least communicate clearly [22:27] newz2000, why doesn't ubuntu.com support IE6 good? [22:28] the layout is ugly and the menu is not working [22:37] Erik_J: it was deemed, "not too bad" when we reviewed it, but recent information has shown that it is actually bad. [22:37] Therefore it's my plan to migrate ubuntu.com to the same template shipit uses this month [22:38] ubuntu.com is using django isn't it? [22:38] no, it uses drupal, though webapps.ubuntu.com uses django [22:39] :/, I always confuse them [22:39] the original intention was for the webapps domain to be hidden and proxied through the ubuntu.com domain but it's gotten stalled [22:40] but you have to make a new django template based on the shipit template [22:40] ? [22:41] well, I'll have to make a template for drupal and django [22:41] it won't look drastically different than what we have now [22:41] it's the same template matthew east used for the help.ubuntu.com wiki [22:41] but better in IE6 [22:41] yes [22:42] help.ubuntu.com is still using the old layout [22:42] yes but the community section is a wiki and matt has created a new theme for it [22:43] sorry newz2000 I have to go now... see you later or tomorrow [22:43] ok [22:43] ttyl Volans [22:45] today I did one simple test on ubuntu.com. Again I was suprised. The user thought that the "Download" and "Upgrade" in the header was one button. [22:45] Meaning: download ubuntu upgrade [22:45] it's always interesting what people get stuck on [22:46] he used the Get ubuntu link in the left menu [22:46] a simple - before the words solves it I think [22:46] so that's why we put it there. :-) [22:50] time for bed, almost midnight here. Have a nice day [22:50] have a nice night Erik_J
