charlie-tcaIs anyone having issues with connecting using static IP address?00:44
charlie-tcaI tested Xubuntu Alpha 6 on two systems, and can't even ping my server00:44
Jordan_UHow can I completely remove kubuntu-desktop?00:45
Pici!puregnome00:45
ubottuIf you want to remove all !KDE packages and have a default !Ubuntu system follow the instructions here « http://psychocats.net/ubuntu/puregnome »00:45
Jordan_Ucharlie-tca: How are you connecting with a static IP, via network-manager?00:45
Jordan_UPici: Doesn't work for intrepid / KDE400:46
charlie-tcaI tried to, but it won't let me enter static IP00:46
charlie-tcaDo I need to remove network manager?00:46
PiciJordan_U: :/ sorry.00:46
Jordan_Ucharlie-tca: In what way does it not let you? no00:46
charlie-tcaWhen I click to add a new connection, click on manual, OK greys out and never comes back00:47
charlie-tcaEven if I try to edit the existing Auto eth0 it does it00:47
Jordan_Ucharlie-tca: Did you fill in all of the required fields?00:47
charlie-tcaYes, all the fields including route00:47
charlie-tca/etc/network/interfaces shows the static connection, too, with all the information00:48

Jordan_Ucharlie-tca: I am not sure, since you say that your /etc/network/interfaces also isn't getting the job done, but the package is just a "suggestion" anyway, and network-manager is a good place to start00:50
charlie-tcaOkay. I'll go do that. Thanks!00:50
jadams_does intrepid have 3d support for ati cards yet?01:37
crdlbjadams_: for ones supported by the radeon driver01:48
jadams_crdlb, I have an X1200 / RS690, so it looks like I'm 2d only under radeon: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RadeonDriver01:50
crdlbnope, it should work in intrepid01:51
jadams_cool.  I'm updating right now, a week or two ago it wasn't working.01:51
crdlbhmm01:52
jadams_I'm running intrepid atm01:52
jadams_the X1200 is a particularly vile graphics card, to be honest01:52
jadams_mine's an X1250 I think01:52
jadams_I have a question, but I have more of a procedural question (teach a man to fish and whatnot)02:01
jadams_I want to know what version of the gimp is current with intrepid, but in general I want to know how I should check what version of package X is current with intrepid02:01
jadams_so I don't have to ask people stupid questions02:01
crdlbjadams_: you can use https://launchpad.net/ubuntu02:06
x1250jadams_, or http://packages.ubuntu.com/02:09
jadams_thanks02:09
crdlbthe problem with packages.ubuntu.com is that it's only updated once a day02:17
jadams_I just want gimp 2.5 to hit intrepid02:17
jadams_or gimp with GEGL, whatever02:18
jadams_I've been waiting on GEGL for what seems like forever, and the little bit I've seen integrated so far into the GIMP is making me supremely happy02:18
morschHi. I'm in the live CD right now. I want to install on to an existing ext3 partition. I moved all the important files (/home etc)on the partition into a subdirectory (/oldsys)... I selected manual partitioning and to NOT format the drive. Now it's warning me that existing directories containing system files ("/etc, /lib, /usr, ...") will be deleted during the install... Can I go through with this without it touching /oldsys?02:19
_Zeus_morsch: i really don't think that's a good idea02:20
crdlbmorsch: no02:20
Jordan_Umorsch: I think so, but I wouldn't bet unbacked up files on it02:20
_Zeus_i don't think that's wise02:20
_Zeus_you'll be left with the files that got removed in that version02:20
crdlbyou'd be better off just upgrading via update-manager02:21
morschthe root folder is basically empty apart from /oldsys at this point...02:21
crdlbif the existing install is hardy02:21
morschdamn02:21
morschyeah it is... or rather was, I think going back will be rather painful after the moving around of folders I did earlier02:22
morschbut I really, really want to do a clean install and not (another) dist-upgrade02:22
crdlbyou absolutely should have a backup of all important files on another HDD before using the intrepid installer in any mode02:22
x1250You have all in one partition, did a backup for your old system in /oldsys, and then installed telling to not format? I dont see a problem.02:22
crdlbyou could try it I guess, but only if you have a backup of everything in /oldsys02:23
morschI'll try backing it up to another partition, but it's sooo much data... I'm sure I could lose a lot of it, but wading through it would take forever ;)02:23
_Zeus_morsch: i wouldn't update to intrepid if you have no backup and valuable files02:24
morschokay02:24
mnHow do I get II, and how do I update my GNOME in HH?02:30
mnHow glitchy is alpha 6?02:37
JaseXHello.02:40
jribmn: *alpha*  = "use if you do not mind your computer exploding"02:42
JaseXI was wondering if I could obtain some info pertaining to Ibex...02:42
jribJaseX: just ask the question!02:43
mnjrib: is it really that bad?  surely it's not too much worse than what the beta will be?02:43
mn!anyone02:43
ubottuA large amount of the first questions asked in this channel start with "Does anyone/anybody..."  Why not ask your next question (the real one) and find out?02:43
JaseXYes okay.02:43
x1250mn, it works fine here. You can search the intrepid ibex ubuntu forum to get a rough idea of possible problems.02:43
JaseXI just upgraded from Heron to Ibex... and now I cannot access my TTYs using the new kernel...02:43
jribmn: it's not bad, but with updates still going on, anything can happen.   I wouldn't rely on a system with intrepid for anything other than helping develop intrepid to be honest02:43
JaseXThus I cannot kill GDM to install Nvidia graphics02:43
JaseXEnvy crashes... and I'd prefer not to use it anyways.02:44
jribJaseX: why aren't you using system -> administration -> hardware drivers?02:44
mnWill I be able to return to HH if I don't like II?02:45
x1250mn, nope, unless that you reinstall02:45
mnooo, I don't really think I wanna go for it then02:46
x1250:P02:46
mnHow about the beta?  Will that have a possibility to break your system too?02:46
jribmn: if you just want to try out gnome, use a livecd02:46
mnI have gnome02:47
mnand kde02:47
jribmn: you were asking about the newer version right?02:47
JaseXI thought it was better to use the actual nvidia driver...02:47
JaseX=/02:47
jribJaseX: why?02:47
JaseXSomeone told me that.02:47
JaseX=/02:47
teethdoodI remember a while back in 7.04 production. An update ruined it for a lot of ppl for 3 days02:47
JaseXEither way I don't have TTYs02:47
JaseXjust flashing ascii junk02:47
mnjrib:  Oh, yeah.  That's true.  Is there any way to get the new gnome on hardy?02:48
x1250mn, sure, anything is possible when the user base is small. Not all bugs can be discovered.02:48
jribJaseX: true, I don't know about that.  The benefits to using Hardware Drivers is your X doesn't break everytime you upgrade your kernel like it does if you install the drivers manually02:48
JaseXSo that's the only difference?02:48
larson9999relatively speaking is ibex about where ubuntu release usually are in terms of stability at this stage?02:49
jribJaseX: eventually the versions will be different02:49
x1250mn, thats asking for big trouble I guess.02:49
mnjrib:  So if I installed drivers with ndiswrapper, my X will break on upgrade to II?02:49
jribmn: no02:49
jribmn: only with the binary nvidia ones02:49
mnoh, ok02:50
djbenderlarson9999: alpha is alpha, aka not ready for production machines02:50
mnOh, well I guess to satisfy my curiosity I'll go download the Alpha 6 and burn it to a cd to see what it's like02:50
djbendermn, i've had alpha-6 on my desktop and laptop and they've been fine, it didn't like my older hardware work machine tho.02:51
JaseXSo... just use the ones ubuntu provides?02:51
larson9999djbender, sure.  that's why i asked in relation to normal ubuntu releases.  and all alpha's aren't create equal.02:51
JaseXit chooses not to configure the xserver properly though02:51
djbenderlarson9999, someone more experienced than me would have to answer your question then ;-)02:52
JaseXWhereas I never have fail with the manually installed ones.02:52
JaseXHmm03:00
JaseXSo no apparent reason why I might see random ascii color crap?03:00
JaseXand not be able to ask my TTYs03:01
EvilDaemonWell, I like Alpha 6. :-)03:01
JaseXI do too...03:01
EvilDaemonHaven't found anything wrong yet03:01
JaseXMinus lack of TTYs03:01
JaseXSpeaking of which I need to re-install USP03:01
mnOne last question about bugs of Alpha 6.   Has anyone here found any major bugs on Alpha 6 (system-breaking bugs, etc.)?03:02
djbender...lol03:03
JaseXkind of mn.03:03
JaseXI get a kernel panic ocassionally while starting up.03:04
JaseXSeems related to my TTY problem.03:04
JaseXI dunno.03:04
mndjbender:  I know im kinda beatin a dead horse, but I can't help it.03:04
mnJaseX:  What do you do to stop the kernel panic.  Reboot?03:04
JaseXYeah...03:05
* mn would like to see a kernel panic. Just not one that breaks the system.03:05
JaseXI had to re-install the kernel to solve it.03:05
JaseXJust booted into 2.26.2403:05
mnwere you in 2.26.27 before?03:06
JaseXhad no idea why the original one had a kernel panic.03:06
JaseXYeah.03:06
JaseXJust re-installed03:06
JaseXI think it had something to do with the wireless or something.03:06
mnHow'd you re-install a different kernel?03:06
JaseXI didn't... I just went into the old kernel...03:06
JaseXand purged .2703:07
JaseXand installed again.03:07
mnOh, so you kept both kernels.  How'd you purge it?03:07
JaseXI just used synaptic.03:07
JaseXand hit purge to all instances mentioning 2.26.27 and hit apply03:08
JaseXand re-marked all of it, and installed again.03:08
JaseXbeen fine since.03:08
mnOh, so if I upgrade and something fails in intrepid, I can just revert to the old kernel as long as it's the OS and not the GUI, app, etc?03:09
JaseXit should keep your old kernel in the list.03:09
JaseXand it will also add a last working boot option.03:10
mnJaseX: on GRUB?03:10
JaseXYes.03:11
JaseXNot sure if you use LiLo though.03:11
JaseXHmm, still awaiting some input on my color ascii junk I'm receiving when I press alt+f1~603:14
mnI use GRUB.  Hrmm, I can't decide.   "To upgrade, or not to upgrade; that is the question."03:14
JaseXmn... why not just wait :D03:14
JaseXIt'll be released fully soon, and less things to worry about being broken.03:14
mnJaseX:  I know it would be safer to wait, but I'm very curious.03:14
mnIt's still a month and a half till final release03:15
ezeki3lguys, do you what's going on with samba? i can't make a user 'root' account that access entire /03:15
JaseXIt's not that much different yet :D03:15
ezeki3land i have commented out the disabled users line, for 'root'03:16
geoilocateis this the right channel to post ubuntu server questions03:16
mnJaseX: from hardy?03:16
JaseXyeah... it'd be better to wait.03:16
JaseXgeoilocate: I do not believe so.03:17
JaseXThis is for the Intrepid Ibex pre-release development.03:17
wgrantWe need as much testing as we can get, and trying a live CD is a safe way to do it.03:17
wgrantIf you don't depend on your system being completely stable, you can try to upgrade it.03:17
JaseXmn, if your computer is critical to your every day tasks... i would recommend against it.03:17
wgrant(if you know what you're doing and can unbreak things)03:17
wgrantOf course.03:17
JaseXand just use a virtual machine/livecd03:17
geoilocateJasex: downloaded an iso for Intrepid Ibex but the server version03:18
mnBut I got limited bandwith.  Getting a full .iso would take way more band width than an upgrade03:18
wgrantTesting live CDs on every bit of hardware you can get your hands on is useful, particularly considering the new kernel.03:18
JaseXAh... so you're looking for help on Intrepid Ibex then?03:18
wgrantmn: Not necessarily.03:18
JaseXmn trust me03:18
geeterwhich reminds me to keep growing this list of ALSA quirks.  Sigh.  It just never ends.03:18
mnJaseX: alright03:19
wgrantDepending on the desktop CD's compression, it may be smaller (and more than likely faster) than upgrading.03:19
mnwgrant: really?03:19
mnit's about 566 MB03:19
mnthe .iso is03:19
wgrantThat's a bit on the small side...03:19
wgrantIt should be ~700MB.03:20
wgrant-rw-r--r--  1 william william 696M 2008-09-20 09:21 intrepid-desktop-i386.iso03:20

wgrantOr i386 onto some old pre-i686 hardware?03:21
wgrantWhich version?03:21
mnwgrant:  you're right.  sorry, i was thinking of Xubuntu being 566 MB.  Would an upgrade take more than 700 MB?03:22
wgrantmn: Most packages will be upgraded, so it would be similar for a default installation.03:22
geoilocateJaseX: wgrant: no using Alpha 603:22
wgrantmn: Plus you probably have extra stuff installed, which would make it larger.03:22
wgrantgeoilocate: What are you trying to do?03:22

wgrantJaseX_: That's the last we got.03:23
geoilocatewgrant: using VirtualBox 2.02 and trying to instal alpha603:23
JaseX_what i just posted is what suceeded what you just reposted wgrant03:24
JaseX_it was an extra hundred and a half megabytes03:24
geoilocatewgrant: installation proceed well, but when needing to reebot i get the error03:24
mnJaseX:  Yeah, I was leaning to LiveCD when you said that.  This computer isn't all that vital.  I was trying to save bandwidth, so/but LiveCD it is.03:25
wgrantgeoilocate: Does the kernel panic, or actually give the error that you said?03:25
geoilocatewgrant: gives the error03:25
JaseX_I get a kernel panic from intrepid ibex in virtualbox myself... so I installed it natively.03:26
wgrantgeoilocate: You might want to try http://www.bytebot.net/blog/archives/2008/05/04/sun-xvm-virtualbox-is-released03:26
wgrantThere appear to be instructions for resolving a similar problem there.03:26
geoilocatewgrant: this kernel requires the following features not present on the CPU: pae unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU03:27
geoilocatewgrant: will look at the link03:27
wgrantSounds like you're using -server.03:27
wgrant(the -server kernel, that is)03:27

tj83hello all. I have an ATI X1200 equipped toshiba notebook... i understand that fglrx is not operable with the new xserver version. or is it? and with driver "radeon" compiz is functional but i cannot play video with any media player mplayer, or vlc, or other, if i use radeonhd then compiz-fusion does not work, what are my options in 8.10?04:58
tj83can anyone shed some light on this?04:59
x1250tj83, leave the default driver in xorg.conf (that is, no driver specified) and use:05:00
x1250  Option                "AccelMethod"   "EXA"05:00
x1250in Section "Device"05:00
tj83x1250, ok, thank you so very much i have been pulling my hair out on this... so this is actually the "radeon" driver with the additional option right?05:01
danbh_intrepidx1250: nope, alt-f2 does not work  :P05:01
x1250tj83, yes, but you can just comment the line, since radeon its the default driver.05:02
tj83righto , thanks again x1250 i'll let you know how i fair.05:02
tj83x1250, ty, i dont know why that could not have been auto configured but that fixes the problem. much appreciated.05:10
x1250tj83, np05:11
tj83x1250, any support for 3d accel with the X1200 and "radeon"? only fglrx right? do you happen to know if ATI has anything in the works for the release of 8.10 on october 30th?05:21
x1250tj83, AFAIK the radeon driver doesn't support all card features, and it is also slower. Maybe Cedega needs some stuff radeon doesn't support yet, but google it if you want to be sure.05:30
tj83x1250, alright, will do.05:30
RAOFtj83: Cedega's 3d accel test isn't particularly good, or wasn't last time I checked.05:31
RAOFI don't think that my 7600Go with the nvidia blob passed it, for example.05:31
terminator_RAOF, got the neuveau drivers working 2D for now and hopefully 3D soon...05:33

terminator_RAOF, Thank you for pointing this out to me.05:35
RAOFterminator_: I mean, the best you can currently hope for is that some apps will work, and some will even work faster than software :)05:36

RAOFIt's a start.05:37
RAOF:)05:37
terminator_RAOF   Will update manager update neuveau if changes are made to it or do I have to manually update it by hand.05:39

DanaGIt'll let me use the rEFIt boot menu thingy.08:11

DanaGContext:   /me likes VirtualBox -- it has guest additions for both Windows and Linux, with seamless mode.  It also has guest additions for OS/2, for god only knows what reason.  But oddly enough, not any for Win98.08:14
Lynoureelmargol: that would abstract away all the hw problems, which might be good if one had an itch for just the newness, but this is also ideal point to report those bugs. catch22, big time08:14
elmargolYou can test hardware problems using a live cd08:15
* DanaG is currently on a system with an NV17 card.08:15
Lynoureelmargol: except for hibernation.08:17
LynoureWhich is the thing that seems to reliably toggle between releases =)08:18
* DanaG pokes nvidia with a stick: fix the **** 96 drivers!08:18
elmargolLynoure, if you have a swap partition bibernation should work I guess...08:18
DanaGEither that... or open-source the cards that need the 96 or older drivers.08:18
Lynoureelmargol: yes, I guess, if I make live-cd to use that swap08:19
elmargolLynoure, it does this by default i think08:19
Lynoureelmargol: no, does not seem to08:19
Lynoureelmargol: or at least it did not mess with the hibernation image I had there while I played with livecd08:20
Lynoureand I don't expect it to be smart enough to avoid that, but could be underestimating08:21
BHSPitLappyswapon, swapoff08:23

DanaGBe aware that Intrepid actually replaces KDE3 with KDE4.08:33
LynoureI am.08:33
LynoureOne of the things I want to find out is how gracefully/gracelessly that happens08:33
DanaGI haven't done it with a KDE-based system.08:34
Lynoureas it will decide whether my mother stays a buntu-user or not08:34
DanaGtip: don't put Intrepid on other people's systems, until after release.08:34
LynoureI'm not stupid, you know, just a non-native speaker =)08:35
DanaGAah.08:35
LynoureBeen a sysadmin for 10+ years...08:35
LynoureBut, even without the kde version change, the rate of UI change in Kubuntu at least might be too fast for my mother. Something new every 6 months only works well for people that like newness.08:36
DanaGOne thing you could do: put it on your own system, and have her test-drive it, so to speak.08:37
DanaGOr if you have a spare hard drive, then clone it, boot the clone, and upgrade the clone.08:38
LynoureDanaG: her upgrade is technically easy08:39
DanaGThe point of the backup is that she could try out the UI, and then revert if she doesn't like it.08:39

Ryoushiam I the only one having trouble with mono related software?16:31
=== sisto1 is now known as sisto
Ryoushiwell, just so you guys know, mono doesn't work.  Anything that installs into mono, by extension, also doesn't work.  Not much I can do about it, so having told you guys, I'm off.16:35
teethdoodhow do I turn off the blinking "wifi" light on my laptop? it's really annoying17:21
mazzenteethdood: depends on your laptop. what manufacture is it?17:28
mazzenteethdood: you should have something like /sys/devices/platform/<manufacture>wlan17:28
mazzenteethdood: i have an asus notebook and so i have to type: echo 0 > /sys/devices/platform/asus-laptop/wlan as root17:30
DanaGOh yeah, something interesting: with Broadcom cards, you can actually change the LED behavior.17:36
DanaGLook in /sys/class/leds17:36
DanaGYou'll see something like b43-phy0:rx and b43-phy0:tx directories.  Check (with 'cat') the 'trigger' file in each.17:37
mazzenDanaG: interesting! but what has to be in that file to trigger the led?17:39
DanaGyou'll echo one of the listed options into it.17:40
EvilDaemonIs there an Intrepid Ibex ver. for Virtualbox? Or should I just use the hardy one?17:40
DanaGFor example, echo b43-phy0:assoc into both tx and rx, and it'll change that LED (usually one for both send and receive) into an 'associated to access point' LED.17:41
burneranyone know how to get vlc 0.9.2 in intrepid?  I found a ppa for hardy, but it's not working in my intrepid install17:43
mazzenDanaG: thanks!17:47
DanaGSo, if you want it to do that at startup, you can put it in /etc/rc.local17:48
DanaGOh yeah, it's also possible to modify the firmware itself to make it permanent even in other OSes, but it's dangerous ... last time I tried it, it broke connectivity for some odd reason, and I had to go back to the stock firmware.17:49
DanaGhmm, aptitude just crashed with "bus error" -- wtf?17:50
Nece228do beta will have brand new theme17:53
Nece228?17:53
kentif bus error,  then go by train17:56
Nece228i think that intrepid will not have new icon theme...17:56
DanaGUgh, I had forgotten how broken Flash was in Hardy.17:57
Volkodav_http://www.flashmagazine.com/News/detail/64_bit_flash_player_for_linux_in_the_works/18:01
DanaGI hope it won't be as buggy as the 32-bit Flash has been until now.18:04
Turmsi've a strange problem which has begun with the 2.6.27 series of kernels, i can ping url's but i cannot navigat nor i can update, here you can find some of the test i tried: http://pastebin.ca/120753818:07
LynoureTurms: your dns servers seem to be giving nonsense18:16
LynoureTurms: I'm pretty sure google.it is not hit-nxdomain.opendns.com18:16
LynoureTurms: more like fg-in-f104.google.com or something like that18:17
LynoureTurms: My guess is that you get the same ip, 208.69.34.132 for other things as well?18:18
TurmsLynoure: yes, you're right, i have tried again on the same machine and now i get the correct answer, the problem now is that now it looses some packets18:21
TurmsLynoure: i've tried with yahoo.com and now i get all the packets18:22
LynoureTurms: that's good. Pretty much ok, then?18:23
TurmsLynoure: NO! ping works, but i cannot navigate nor i can update18:25
TurmsLynoure: which is quite strange, given that the routing table is ok18:25
LynoureTurms: so what does yahoo.com resolve to?18:25
LynoureTurms: and what happens if you do  telnet yahoo.com 80  ?18:25
TurmsLynoure: w2.rc.vip.sp1.yahoo.com (68.180.206.184)18:26
LynoureTurms: and have you recently added a firewall that blocks port 80?18:26
LynoureTurms: do other protocols work?18:28
TurmsLynoure: i'm trying to telnet yahoo, but i receive "trying 68.180.206.184" only (still waiting), and the problem exists with the kernel 2.6.27 only, if i start with 2.6.26 everything works18:28
TurmsLynoure: and lenny in another partition works too18:29
TurmsLynoure: ssh to this machine works, so does nfs18:30
TurmsLynoure: whatelse can i try?18:30
LynoureTurms: you can of course always report a bug at launchpad... There might even be one.18:30
TurmsLynoure: well in several cases i tried to help filing bugs, but this is really weird18:31
TurmsLynoure: anyway i'll go to launchpad to see if someone else reported such a behaviour18:32
LynoureTurms: I'm curious about the cause, so if you remember, do tell me too when you find out18:34
TurmsLynoure: sure! and anyway thanks!18:39

zerwasthere is a bug report which is not "incomplete" (is there a definition of this status?). Can i change the status so this bug won't expire? https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/26428721:12
ubottuLaunchpad bug 264287 in linux "zoom and calculator keys dont work in my microsoft natural keyboard 4000" [Undecided,Incomplete]21:12
danbh_intrepidzerwas: why do you want to change the status?21:14
* danbh_intrepid uses that keyboard21:14
zerwasdanbh_intrepid: because it will expire if not changed21:14
zerwasdanbh_intrepid: are your zoom keys working?21:14
danbh_intrepidzerwas: why isnt the info being provided21:14
danbh_intrepid?21:14
danbh_intrepidno, zoom doesnt work, but calculator does21:14
zerwasdanbh_intrepid: because hotkeyresearch does not give information as benjamin said21:15
danbh_intrepidmeh, keyboard support is FUBAR'ed in intrepid anyway21:18
danbh_intrepidzerwas: don't worry about expiration, I have inside info that it means nothing.   Except that maybe people will maybe ignore the bug report21:19
zerwasdanbh_intrepid: umm ... ok. so "incomplete" is the right status?21:20
danbh_intrepidwhen I said keyboard support is fubar, I say that because the keyboard applet crashes, and I think there are a few known bugs21:20
zerwasdidn't experience a crash of the applet so far... with my pc104 keyboard ;-)21:21

danbh_intrepidno, but I don't care particularly, for the above reasons.  (no offence)      I'm personally going subscribe to the bug, and wait till beta before I try to post any info/ set the right status21:21
danbh_intrepidyou dont; like the microsoft 4000?21:22
zerwasnot anymore. If it would be silent, it would be super cool. but people are sleeping close-by to the keyboard ...21:23
danbh_intrepidits not that loud, IMHO21:23
zerwashm there are louder keyboards, right21:23
zerwasbut there does not seem to *any* almost quit one on the market :-(21:24
zerwass/to/to be21:24
danbh_intrepidI was bringing that up, because I think it counts as a quiet keyboard.  So, if you go and get a quiet keyboard, you will probably have something just as loud.  You'll probably have to do the research, and find one that is dead silent21:25

N1ckRWhat are the chances of Open Office 3 being available to intrepid when it is released (assuming releases for intrepid and OO3 go to plan)?21:47
td123N1ckR: if it isn't already included, it won't be... it's past the freeze21:48

crimsunjack sense is a driver-layer toggle that sets the appropriate register(s) when a plug is inserted or removed.  A common example would be inserting a headphone plug (or removing it).  It's often tied to muting the internal speakers of the device.  We do this in the various codec patches for ALSA.21:58
danbh_intrepidhmmm, maybe you should file a bug?  If they can guarantee that, then it should've  been included in intrepid.  I would think21:58
teamcobralooks like nvidia-glx-177 and kvm hate each other ;p ;p ;p22:17
