grego@crimsun i have no idea what you're talking about :)00:10

gregoi 4 usb ports at back, for me it looks like hub :) and 2 in front @crimsun00:16

gregotried to plug it to each of avaiable port, but it doesnt make difference00:17
crimsungrego: are these all using OHCI or EHCI controllers?  i.e., when you insert/plug, what does watching dmesg tell you?00:19
gregolets check lspci @crimsun00:21
crimsun(well, you really want to also check `dmesg' after each plug)00:23

crimsungrego: you'll have to go upstream for that (kernel.org's changelogs)00:38
crimsungrego: alternately, if you feel lucky, there are the git changesets themselves (linux-2.6, aka Linus's tree)00:39
crimsungrego: you'll also need to compare against ubuntu-intrepid.git00:39
gregocrimsun: yeah  i have 2.6.27 rc changelog opened, its huge00:39

DanaGIs it a matter of sucky hardware?01:13
RAOFDanaG: "glitch-free" uses ALSA drivers in ways not commonly done; thus, drivers are often broken there.01:15

DanaGOr rather, the touchpad.01:16

Hewdr3mro: I'm not familiar with that bug, but if it's a regression from Gutsy, then Gutsy would work. Intrepid is also marked as being fixed, so Intrepid would work as well. You could probably get an Intrepid LiveCD and use it that way.03:39
Hewdr3mro: That is the patch for the source. That's probably what was applied to Intrepid.03:39
Hewdr3mro: Try a LiveCD if you need a fix right now.03:40

thompahello, how can i reinstall driver for Intel. was Nvidia? Ive tried dpkg-reconfigure, used to be xorg.conf to edit but its empty14:07
thompaI wonder why there is no tool for graphic card in admin, or where is it?14:08

petersaintsI'm still unsure wether I'll go 32-bit ou 64-bit this time =S22:09
axyjosweet.22:09
defryskpetersaints, 32bit is less complicated and about as fast22:09
petersaintsyeah basicly is what makes me still use 32-bit22:10
petersaintsmainly because Flash is much more stable22:10
defryskaxyjo, read the reasenotes when it comes out22:10
petersaintswithou the nspluginwrapper layer22:10
defryskyes22:10
petersaints*without22:10

defryskpetersaints, i could not detect any major speeddifferences between 32/64 bit22:13
petersaintsneither do I22:13
defryskso 32bit is my choice22:13
petersaintsand I saw a 40% increase in memory usage22:13
petersaintson some apps22:14
petersaintslike Firefox22:14
petersaintsI'm going to do a dist-upgrade :P LoL22:14
petersaintsif that fails I'll burn a CD (having a separate /home rocks)22:14
defryskpetersaints, good luck22:14
petersaintsjust one more question22:15
petersaintsEnvy works on Intrepid?22:15

defrysknvidia seems a prob on intrepid for some22:16
petersaints:S22:16
petersaintsthat's bad22:16
petersaintswell I mainly want Intrepid for GNOME 2.2422:16
defryskso be aware of that22:16
petersaintsand few newer apps22:16
petersaintsbut those newer apps I have them via GetDeb22:16

defryskmaybe better to wait a few weekts22:16
mattikmarkf_: Do I have to reboot22:17

mattikdefrysk: ok, how about wma?22:29

DanaGyay, pulseaudio.22:29
mattikDo you have firefox-plugin for pulseaudio?22:31
defryskdunno22:31

infectohmm22:32
defrysk;p22:32
infectohow to turn of network manager? :)22:32
infectoit was hard to up my network :)22:32
soleblaze Xorg seems to be taking too many cpu resources.  Just having a window open that refreshes it self every second causes it to use 20% CPU.  I'm using an aspire one with an Intel 945GM chipset.  Has anyone heard of this problem before? (I'm using Intrepid and the intel driver)22:35
Le-Chuck_ITAHi there. A question to laptop intrepid users: does gnome-power-manager work fine for you? I commented on a bug regarding the battery status not being updated after suspend but now it seems to me that it happens randomly22:37
mattikdefrysk: Maybe I have to disable systemsounds22:37
defryskmattik, maybe22:38
Le-Chuck_ITAno people using laptops?22:42

darthanubiswhat ccould be wrong NOW?23:04
darthanubisit was just playing audio via flash23:04
darthanubisbut now, the sound pref app won't play the test sounds23:05
darthanubisno sound from Banshee, the song won't even progress23:05
darthanubisI guess the npviewer or firefox is still going so that means nothing else can play sound?23:05
darthanubisthe PA server is still running and connected23:05
darthanubisI don't get it23:05
darthanubisI followed the Pulse Audio perfect setup, Ubuntu's PA wiki, all to no avail23:06
=== Mark_Milliman is now known as Mark_M|Away
darthanubisok can't play audio if flash is running23:14
DanaGHeh, if I disable glitch-free feature of PA 0.9.12... it doesn't drop out so much.23:16
DanaGHave you done 'asoundconf set-pulseaudio'?23:16
RAOFDanaG: That's actually to be expected :)23:16
RAOF(At least if glitch-free is dropping out ;))23:16
DanaGHeh, glitch-free....23:17
DanaG=รพ23:17
DanaGNOt for me.23:17
RAOFglitch-free* (*When your drivers don't suck)23:18
DanaGIn fact, the only thing that doesn't drop out... is my hda-intel card.23:18
DanaGemu10k1 drops out...23:18
DanaGusb-audio drops out, too.23:18
RAOFWheras my usb speakers power through just fine, but my hda-intel drops out :)23:18
DanaGOdd.23:21
RAOFNot really.  hda-intel is merely a loosely-defined sound card interface spec, IIUC.23:21
darthanubissorry back23:22
darthanubis Have you done 'asoundconf set-pulseaudio'?23:22
darthanubisuh I have a ~/.asoundconf23:22
darthanubisif thats what your asking23:22

darthanubisfrom PPA?23:23
darthanubisI just dropped back to Intrepid's default 9.1023:24
DanaGI just disabled glitch-free.23:24
darthanubiswhats this "glitch-free" of which you refer?23:24
DanaGhttps://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/GlitchFreeAudio23:30
darthanubisDanaG, so you don't reccomend "GF"?23:34
DanaGEeh, it's a YMMV ("Your Mileage May Vary") sort of thing.23:37
darthanubisok but how about a link to get flash working and keep normal audio23:38
darthanubisor have more than one app using pulse or playing audio23:38

kingbillyrecent update removed listen music player, cannot reinstall due to python-gnome2-extras dependency, anyone have a solution or similar problem?23:42
RAOFkingbilly: The solution was to have not installed the update which removed python-gnome2-extras.23:43
RAOFkingbilly: Now you have to wait until the new python-gnome2-extras is built and mirrored.23:43
