DGMurdockIIIdriver00:25
DGMurdockIIIdrives*00:25

MythbuntuGuest04...sucks doesnt it00:29
DGMurdockIIIwill support be added00:29
MythbuntuGuest04rip the disks beforehand00:29
MythbuntuGuest04good question, I dunno but I doubt it00:30
MythbuntuGuest04DRM's a bitch00:30
DGMurdockIIIwhy would i rip the disk when i want to use it as a blu ray player00:30
MythbuntuGuest04because you can't read the disk directly AFAIK00:31
MythbuntuGuest04because of that drm crap that linux cant handle00:31
DGMurdockIIIbut its a media center00:31
MythbuntuGuest04Isn't this the mythbuntu IRC?00:31
hadsheh00:31
DGMurdockIIIyes00:32
DGMurdockIII(RAOF) DGMurdockIII: I believe the answer is "yes", but don't expect to be able to play blue-ray discs.00:32
DGMurdockIIIthe yes was that ubuntu can read blu ray00:32
MythbuntuGuest04since when?00:32
pabIs there an easy way to have a script start at boot?00:32
DGMurdockIIIhold on00:32
MythbuntuGuest04.... Are you coding the support ;)00:34
MythbuntuGuest04?00:34
DGMurdockIIIdose mythbuntu support HD video00:34
MythbuntuGuest04yeah if your hardware can00:35
hadspab: It depends when you want the script to start and who you want to run it as.00:35
DGMurdockIII(MythbuntuGuest04): are you a dev00:36
DGMurdockIII(RAOF) Dunno; I'm fairly sure the relevant kernel stuff was in Hardy, though. , this was a response to a blu ray qustion00:36
MythbuntuGuest04Not at all00:36
MythbuntuGuest04But I sure would like to pop a bluray in the tray myself, I share the wish00:37
DGMurdockIIIwhat tv tuner card shold i get that has HD output that will work with mythbuntu00:37
DGMurdockIIIyou have a bluray player00:37
hadsThat really depends where you are in the world and what type of broadcasts there are.00:37
MythbuntuGuest04I'm trying desperatly to get my hd-pvr to work, but seems like we have to wait for that till 0.2200:37
hadsYes, that's likely.00:38
MythbuntuGuest04Out of curiosity any eta on that? Still dont have a trunk system sorted out00:39
hadsNo ETA, when it's ready it will be released.00:39
hadsProbably once they are donewith all the mythui stuff they want to get done.00:39
MythbuntuGuest04That's likely too ;)00:39
MythbuntuGuest04I'd check out trunk but hae problems installing, feels like old school RPM hell dammit00:41
MythbuntuGuest04gotta run00:44
MythbuntuGuest04bbl8r00:45
DGMurdockIIIim in the USA00:45
DGMurdockIIIwill that help00:45
DGMurdockIIIi was looking at the pcHDTVT but it dose not have a HDMI port00:46
feltisnot sure where to ask this question, I've got a Pinnacle HDTV Pci card with IR remote port. Everything appears to come up fine, I can capture video. I see the IR port in /proc/bus/input/devices. I can even use the included micro-remote to press the numbers keys only. I can not configure any of the keys or get any sort of input to show up in lircd at all.01:17
feltisI'm trying to figure out how to use another remote with this device, the information on the card says it will work with a remote.01:17
williammanda I'm having a problem getting a tuner created in mythtv-setup. I'm using 7.10 kubuntu. It was working up till yesterday and all of the tuners are gone....01:28
williammanda I have repaired the DB and still no tuner created.01:28
pabhads, thank you for responding.  I want to start tightvncserver for :1 and :2 (x11vnc works great) as my user.01:42
hadspab: I'm not sure exactly as I use a bit of a custom setup here but I believe if you link it into ~/.config/autostart you should be good to go.02:08
pabhads: well, it didn't work for me.  But you have led me on to additional possibilities and I again thank you.  I have much to learn.02:22
hadspab: No problem good luck :)02:44
pabhads, I have success!  I used xfce4-autostart-editor.  I just wish I knew what it did at the command line :(03:00
orly_owlhow long is 8.04.1 going to be supported for?05:58
orly_owland is there a free software only option like ubuntu 8.04?05:58
hadsMythbuntu is Ubuntu i.e. the same packages etc.05:59
orly_owlok05:59
orly_owlDoes that mean it's a Live CD as well?06:00
hadsI believe it is yes, I've never installed from the mythbuntu iso06:00
orly_owloh. did you just install the mythbuntu package?06:01
hadsI just use the mythtv packages.06:02
orly_owlok06:03
orly_owlHow can I get PAL TV output from an intel graphics card using a VGA to Composite adapter?06:38
orly_owlwhat are the hardy URLs no Universe and Multiverse?08:05
hads/etc/apt/sources.list08:06
orly_owlim not running hardy. that's why i ask08:07
orly_owlbe kind enough to pastebin that for me08:07
hadsWhat are you trying to do?08:08
orly_owlinstall mythtv on gnewsense08:08
orly_owlit should work08:08
hadsmythtv is in multiverse08:09
orly_owlgnewsense doesnt have multi though08:10
orly_owlgnewsense: http://pastebin.com/d59c7021008:11
hadsI'm not sure I understand. Why are you using gnewsense rather than Ubuntu/Mythbuntu?08:22
orly_owlbecause it's a  fully free GNU/linuc distro08:23
orly_owl*GNU/Linux08:23
hadsOK, so you then want to go and add non-free software to it?08:31
orly_owlno, i want to add the free mythtv software to it08:31
hadsIt's not, that's why it's in multiverse.08:32
orly_owloh08:32
orly_owlwikipedia says mythtv is under the GPL08:33
MythbuntuGuest29I wonder if here is the place for requests?08:36
hadsI'm no lawyer but there's a reason it's in multiverse.08:40
orly_owlyep08:40
MythbuntuGuest29how to control xfce with ati remote wonder?08:56
balachmarHi, I want to burn a DVD but nothing happens... the logviewer is totally empty as well...09:29
balachmarHow should I troubleshoot this?09:29
balachmarfixed it it was a permissions error. My user running the frontend wasn't allowed to write in the temp folder. (There should be a nicer error about this though...10:04
fishsponge_hey people - if i want the java plugin for firefox, what package do i need to install through synaptic?11:37
orly_owlwoah. so mythbuntu-desktop installs everything needed11:58
JustJimHi mythtv room12:09

orly_owlHello fellow Australian.12:11
JustJimHi orly_owl, just checking in as I found a ref to this room in the mythbuntu installation pdf and I thought I'd see how it happens here.12:13
=== JustJim is now known as JustJimWillDo
ooooorlyis there a way to run mythtv without opengl?12:32
directhexyeah. run it, without opengl.12:41
ooooorlyis there a guide on how to do this?12:41
JustJimWillDobibi12:46
directhex"mythfrontend". the default is the Qt painter, and Xv video rendering.12:51
orly_owlit seems to want opengl though12:54
orly_owldirecthex: is there an argument that will bypass opengl?12:56
directhexfor the painter? -o ThemePainter=Qt12:57
orly_owlfor mythfrontend12:57
directhexthe painter draws the menus. the renderer draws the videos.12:58
orly_owlit still looks for linGLU12:58
orly_owl*libGLU12:59
directhexjust because it's been compiled against a lib, doesn't mean it's trying to use it13:00
orly_owlwell it still wont open13:00
directhexthen have the libs installed. having basic libs installed isn't the same as using 3d acceleration13:00
ooooorlyerror while loading shared libraries: libGLU.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory13:00
directhexor recompile myth, but frankly, you're SO far outside ubuntu right now i have no idea what you've done13:01
orly_owli wouldnt say that. gnewsense is based on hardy13:01
directhexgobuntu has no support whatsoever for GL, due to its use of an obsolete version of the SGI Free B license13:02
orly_owlthat license is now free though13:02
orly_owlthe FSF worked with SGI to free it13:02
orly_owlwel, the *new* version of the license would be free13:03
directhexmythtv in ubuntu is compiled against GL. you need to muck about with your own recompiles if you want to castrate it.13:06
orly_owlok13:07
orly_owlwould this mean that the 'free software only' option on the mythbuntu CD won't work?13:07
directhexthere is no separate GL-free package, if that's what you're asking13:08
directhexand many tv cards need binary blobs to be useful anyway13:08
orly_owlhmm13:08
fishsponge_hey people - i'm ripping to FLAC and trying to find a tool to generate playlists (command line, and therefore cronable)... any suggestions?14:03
fishsponge_i've tried FAPG, but it doesn't support FLAC...14:03
januismerI'm real close in getting my PVR finished.  I just need to know where/how do I set my lirc to use codeset 125 (DirectTV)?15:01
orly_owlwhat key do you press to play a video in the video browser?15:38
directhexenter?15:39
orly_owlin media library > watch videos15:39
orly_owlim trying to play an ogg video15:39
orly_owlenter does nothing15:40
orly_owlit says runtime os 0 minutes15:40
orly_owl*is 015:40
directhexcheck to see what you've configured the default video player to be15:40
directhexit should be Internal, you may have it set to mplayer15:40
directhexruntime isn't parsed from the file, it's in the metadata (usually from imdb)15:41
orly_owlok thanks15:43
orly_owli had to untick default player for ogg file association15:44
feltislirc is driving me insane. my card comes with an IR port that all the docs say is supported. The remote control seems to be hard coded into the actual DVB capture cards driver, and I can't seem to find any information on how to configure lirc to accept commands from it.15:55
orly_owlthis is stupid15:56
orly_owlthe daemon thing should not use 90% cpu15:56
directhexwhich daemon thing?16:11
orly_owldatabase thing16:13
orly_owlmysql something i think16:14
nunya_anyone have the bdremote working?16:31
nunya_ps3 remote that is16:32
xsdv260my audio is faster than the video. Where should I start?17:46
MythbuntuGuest26how do i stop a program that has frozen in mythbuntu? what is the CLI commands?18:44
superm1pkill -9 NAME18:54
superm1or killall NAME18:54
MythbuntuGuest26thank you18:54
MythbuntuGuest26firefox freezes every so often when my son is on his toondisney and game sites like that, i have to reboot pc to get the browser to work again18:55
fishsponge_hey people - how does the Cover Art work in MythVideo?19:48
fishsponge_i have put some .jpg images in /var/lib/mythtv/videos/ but when i select "Cover Art" in mythvideo, it doesn't show any image files...19:51
DragonPigHey everyone. I have an issue where i'm getting sound in recordings and livetv but not anywhere else21:09
DragonPiganyone have any ideas?21:09

fishsponge_is there a way to fill in the duration of a video automatically in mythvideo??21:24
fishsponge_in fact, there's no way to enter it manually either - so how does the "Duration" field ever get populated?21:24
DragonPigfishsponge- i think that is populated by the info that is picked up from imdb21:38
DragonPigbut you should be able to also edit that through highlighting the video and hitting 'm' to get the menu21:40
DragonPigfrom there you can edit the metadata and put in the duration21:40
fishsponge_hey people - i've put "folder.jpg" into each mythvideo folder, and although it *is* using them as folder thumbnails, it's also displaying them as if they're a video file within each folder! any idea how to stop this>22:10
fishsponge_ok, i'm going to sleep now unfortunately, but if anyone knows how to either enter the duration of a video in mythvideo manually, or how to stop "folder.jpg" appearing as if it's a video, please "/msg fishsponge_"! :-)22:14
