[00:05] [reed], do you know if fennec has an icon already? [00:31] seems fennec now wants xul 1.9.1 [00:37] http://www.sofaraway.org/ubuntu/tmp/fennec.png === Sergeant_Pony is now known as KB1OHY [03:58] fta: just a note: your ppa alsa-lib builds are obsoleted; Luke's changes to alsa-lib and alsa-plugin [both packages required] obviate my branch's [03:59] fta: i.e., you should be fine just using libasound2 and libasound2-plugins from current intrepid [04:01] nope, all apps block each other [04:03] start rhythmbox, pause it, start mplayer, pause it, unpause rhythmbox, it is either frozen or silent [04:03] same if you play a flash video in side ff (instead of mplayer) [04:03] same with totem [04:04] same with prism [04:04] etc, etc, etc [04:04] crimsun, ^^ [04:11] fta: let me attempte to reproduce your symptom in current intrepid with just rhythmbox and Flash 10 RC 2 [04:11] -e [04:12] ok, let me know. i'm going to bed [04:22] fta: I can't reproduce that symptom using your interleaved pause-unpause test case [07:46] <[reed]> fta: it does [09:13] asac: im waiting for a bug number on the sunbird bug from mozilla so i can patch it. I may wait until its fixed to have you push to debian === asac_ is now known as asac === fta_ is now known as fta [12:20] [reed], yes, found it yesterday => https://edge.launchpad.net/fennec [13:20] http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=944172 [16:56] fta: for fennec: talk to persia he wanted to get involved (or someone else from the mobile team) [16:57] fta: so while it might be easier to package on our own, it would be beneficial to have another developer know how to package xul apps :) [17:03] asac, i did, yesterday [17:03] in fact, the request apparently came from lool [17:04] fta: cool. what came out of it? [17:05] nothing [17:05] you can give it a try, it's in my ppa [17:06] problem is, it's designed for touch screens, not mouse [17:06] so you have to guess where you are when you click [17:06] but the ui is kind of great [17:21] hmmm ... i have a touch screen device ;) [17:22] probably i should install latest ubuntu-mobile on it and then try [17:23] fta: so we do fennec alone? e.g. without the mobile team getting involved :( [17:24] i can give it to them, i don't care. i thought that if someone cared, it would have been done long ago [17:24] this is M9 already [17:25] fta: yeah well. they now care ;) [17:25] i wanted to ask them how to properly integrate this app into the mobile desktop, but it attracted no interest so far [17:25] fta: the idea is not to give it away, but get them involved :) [17:25] e.g. bumping versions, adjusting eventual patches [17:25] so they get used to the packaging we are doing [17:26] fta: i think they were quite busy because they a) wanted to release something stable [17:26] and b) prepared a new way of the mobile desktop that uses gnome [17:26] now they know we have something, they can come and ask if they really care [17:27] fta: right. [17:27] fta: its just when we are too proactive this might have the effect "well, all happens automatically. lets work on something else" [17:27] maybe i should start a blog [17:29] fta: blogs are a good vehicle to get messages out and to overcome communication walls [17:29] i just have no idea how to start [17:31] "hello world" :) [17:37] lol, no, i mean, which soft, or online service [17:41] asac: are you online buddy? [17:42] bbiam [17:43] asac: if you are online, please see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/279262 and pardon my foolishness therein. [17:43] Launchpad bug 279262 in network-manager "network-manager After reboot network is totally broken" [Undecided,Confirmed] [18:21] http://www.sofaraway.org/ubuntu/tmp/fennec.png [18:21] http://www.sofaraway.org/ubuntu/tmp/fennec1.png [18:21] http://www.sofaraway.org/ubuntu/tmp/fennec2.png [18:21] http://www.sofaraway.org/ubuntu/tmp/fennec3.png [18:21] http://www.sofaraway.org/ubuntu/tmp/fennec4.png [18:21] asac, ^^ [18:21] fta: the fox looks strange xD [18:21] * sebner is scared [18:21] it's a fennec [18:22] not a regular fox [18:23] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fennec_Fox [18:23] hehe [18:23] these ears xD [18:23] http://www.intothefuzz.com/2008/06/30/feeling-fennec-y/ [18:24] *sweet* [18:24] fta: thx [18:25] too bad i don't own a device that could run that :( [19:59] asac, i've improved dquilt [20:08] [reed], do you know if/when 3.0 and trunk will get nspr 4.7.2 Beta 4 ? [20:43] asac, something like this: http://paste.ubuntu.com/56397/ [20:44] fta: quite nice ;) [20:45] (fennec) [20:46] fta: cool. so it unpacks embedded now? [20:46] yes [20:46] fta: good thing. is that in -devscripts? or -tools? [20:46] tools [20:48] fta: ok. i think we need to add a transition package "firefox-2" [20:48] :) [20:48] i completely forgot about that [20:48] ;) [20:48] that will force user to upgrade.. some will complain [20:48] firefox-2 depends: firefox [20:49] userS [20:49] fta: no thats ok [20:49] fta: it was a service to provide firefox-2 [20:49] we remove that package ;) ... so we have to auto upgrade them ;) [20:49] we will do the same in hardy [20:49] ;) [20:56] asac, http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/diff/dda85c54599d/xpcom/io/nsAppFileLocationProvider.cpp [20:57] asac, i mean [20:57] http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/rev/dda85c54599d [21:21] <[reed]> fta / asac: again, why aren't your local patches upstreamed? [21:36] good question [21:36] you will probably reject most of them [22:14] asac, you up buddy? [23:09] crimsun, i think it has to do with streams "timeouting". With rhythmbox, there's no stop, just pause. I almost never kill it (except when i have to reboot or kill X, which i tend to avoid). I pause it when i'm not in front of the computer, or when i need to listen or watch something else. when i unpause it, it is frozen or silent [23:40] crimsun, well, sound no longer freeze with your old patch but it's no longer smooth like before.. it gets choppy in some cases
