seb128bug #28183710:46
ubottuLaunchpad bug 281837 in update-notifier "merge of switcher, and logout is not presented to non-admin users" [Medium,In progress] https://launchpad.net/bugs/28183710:46
seb128mvo: good ;-)10:46
mvoseb128: what is the latest status of the discussion about the applet? anything new?10:46
seb128no10:46
seb128mvo: did you discuss with vuntz yesterday? I had to run for sport10:47
seb128you just started discussing when I had to go10:47
mvowas a bit more work because I wanted to avoid that non-admin users see all the notification back from warty when they log into their new intrepid system :)10:47
mvobriefly, he showed me the relevant code in the panel10:47
mvoI check that out today I think10:47

hggdhseb128, good morning12:06
hggdhseb128, I am making latest evo 2.24.1 svn right now. Unless something changed from yesterday to today, I still have wrong message counts in vfolder12:08
lapohi12:10
seb128hggdh: hey, oh? I don't use vfolders but imap counts are correct, maybe try pinging srag about those12:16
hggdhseb128, I am discussing it with srag now12:16
seb128hggdh: oh you already did apparently ;-)12:16
seb128right, just noticed12:16
hggdh:-)12:16
seb128hum, kvm on intrepid doesn't boot an hardy image13:25
seb128does anybody has an hardy install there?13:25
* seb128 looks at mvo13:31
huatsseb128: I have one too...13:34
huatsif needed13:34
seb128huats: can you add a recurrent event in evolution at some utc hour and see when the dst is happening for you?13:34
huatsseb128: doing it13:35
asacargh. screen + irssi + gnome-terminal still behaves not-nice. wasnt there an upload about that the other day?14:25
asacwhat i experience is that at some point things repaint in a corrupted way14:25
asaci can trigger it easily by switching tabs back and forth in maximized gnome-terminal14:26
asachmm ... maximized is not the issue ... maybe its because of the small screen i havew14:26
asacon my main production system i dont see this14:27
asacjust on X61 thinkpad (12 inch)14:27
asacseb128: when will we get new tarballs?14:28
seb128asac: what component?14:28
asaci am missing my gnome terminal patch that landed upstream14:28
seb128asac: the tarballs are due next week14:29
seb128on monday usually14:29
seb128some will probably be rolled before that though14:29
asacseb128: didnt pitti or someone fix irssi + terminal?14:29
seb128not that I know14:29
seb128but I don't use irssi so I didn't pay attention14:30
asachmm ... what was the ubuntu2 upload about14:30
* asac looks14:30
asacyeah. not about that issue. damn.14:31
* asac wonders why it became worse in last week(s)14:31
davmor2guys can you check something out please.  bug 282316  I got 1:04 (1hour 4minutes) from upto 15seconds of recording.14:44
ubottuLaunchpad bug 282316 in gnome-media "[intrepid]erratic elapsed time count in "sound recorder" " [Low,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/28231614:44
pittiasac: the upload was about making alt+n configurable again, as in previous releases14:47
tedgpitti: I don't know that you'll have an opinion on bug 281971 but if you do, please comment.15:19
ubottuLaunchpad bug 281971 in fast-user-switch-applet ""Guest session" menu item can be confusing" [Low,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/28197115:19
asacpitti: yeah. thanks15:19
asaci will see if i can understand what might cause these screen - irssi corruptions later today15:19
=== ember_ is now known as ember
seb128davmor2: what do you want to know exactly?15:30
davmor2seb128: It's okay it got confirmed and pedro_ dealt with but thanks for getting back :)15:31
seb128davmor2: there is lot of bugs which are waiting to be sent upstream you can do that if you want, there is no real point to ask on IRC to get those confirmed though15:32
seb128davmor2: they are usually not confirmed because there is lot of bug and that's taking time not because we didn't read about the bug15:32
davmor2seb128: Okay15:33
pittitedg: commented; thanks for pointing me at it15:35
mvo_seb128: could you eyeball http://paste.ubuntu.com/58839/ please?15:48
seb128mvo_: "+    based on the schema, useful for e.g. "15:50
seb128mvo_: e.g. what? ;-)15:50
mvo_heh .)15:50
mvo_sounds like my thoughts were faster (or slower!) than my typing15:50
mvo_seb128: if it is otherwise ok I update and upload15:56
seb128mvo_: it looks alright from a first read but I don't know the configuration format details so still checking if I find something weird15:58
seb128mvo_: ie, spending some time to understand correctly if what it's doing looks right to me too ;-)15:59
mvo_thanks seb128! I did some testing here and it seems to be good, but double check always helps16:00
mvo_seb128: I wait with the upload for your ok16:02
seb128mvo_: is that normal that you don't set a position for the new applet?16:04
mvo_seb128: its "0" in the gconf schema16:05
mvo_I could add it just for make double sure it works16:06
seb128mvo_: what schemas?16:06
mvo_seb128: it gets it from /schemas/aps/panel/objects16:09
mvo_seb128: and uses all keys there16:09
mvo_seb128: I will be away for a bit but read backlog16:10
seb128mvo_: ok, I just understood engine.associate_schema()16:11
seb128mvo_: the code looks good, just upload16:12
pittididrocks: seems that this sambashare thing isn't as good as we thought yesterday16:44
pittididrocks: being in sambashare by default just helps for the initial configuration, but to use the shares you still need to log out and in (for getting the smbpasswd hash)16:45
didrockspitti: oh! It seemed that I tested that case...16:46
didrockspitti: ok, so, what I wanted to do will not work16:46
didrocksget current session group id16:46
didrockscheck with getwpmd the group in /etc/group16:46
didrocksand compare them to see if reloading a session is needed16:47
didrocksbut your case will not be detected :/16:47
pittididrocks: indeed; I think it's worth talking to slangasek about it (after rleease meeting), he knows samba itself inside out16:48
didrockspitti: ok, I will. When is the release meeting (today/now)? I do not find it in the fridge16:51
pittididrocks: running right now, for another 40 minutes16:51
pittididrocks: splendid, thanks!16:51
didrockspitti: you're welcome (let's find a way first ;))16:51
pittididrocks: it might  be too late for intrepid final, but if we get it in early in jaunty, we can maybe backport it and do a SRU16:51
didrocksyes, for both intrepid and hardy16:52
didrockspitti: I will go back home now. I will contact Steve then (~ 40 minutes). Do you want I ping you (-motu/-devel)?17:48
pittididrocks: sure (not sure whether I'll still be around, but I'll at least read scrollback then)17:49
didrockspitti: ok, no pb :)17:49

mvo_tedg: how good do you know the internals of g-s-s ? I'm debugging the bug #278112 right now and wonder why window_obscured_cb() (gs-manager.c:1348) calls the gs_manager_request_unlock() - that seems to be the culprit20:46
ubottuLaunchpad bug 278112 in compiz "Screensaver doesn't start" [Medium,In progress] https://launchpad.net/bugs/27811220:46
tedgmvo_: Not that well.20:55
tedgmvo_: Why do you think it's not a Compiz bug if it happens under Compiz but not metacity?20:55
mvo_tedg: I think its a problem with the unredirect fullscreen stuff, apparently when XCompositeUnredirectWindow is called there is a map/unmap event generated, I suspect that this confuses g-s-s - its tricky to debug because of all the event watching/juggling that g-s-s does20:57
mvo_tedg: I look deeper into it (for a bit at least, its getting late) - but it smells like something that needs fixing in g-s-s21:03
tedgmvo_: Hmm, that would be certainly interesting.21:04
