[00:55] Heya Fellas [00:56] Hi [00:57] got an issue with grub on my xubuntu/ubuntu install on a latitude C600, it takes an inordinate amount of time to actually get past grub, it sits there forever, then eventually boots, i dont see any odd flags, any thoughts ? [01:00] i mean its a good 180 seconds and when hitting ctrl+alt+f1, i get nothing, blinking cursor, and then bam randomly starts booting [01:01] Archlinux, using grub, comes up instantly, so its thrown me a bit off [01:07] Which version of xubuntu and which version of Ubuntu? [01:10] 8.04 [01:10] Both [01:11] i heard something about compiling grub with a -nofloppy option, but im unsure how to do so, and was kinda wondering if i could use a flag amybe. Also, the first thing i see is some kinda errorstating k_init could not resume image, appears to be some kinda resume feature incase the system randomly dies, but i dunno if seeking for that image is wahts doing it or not [01:12] Have you tried removing the quiet option to see what it's doing? [01:13] no, im a windows admin and a lot of this is green to me , so excuse my noobness :p [01:13] trying now... [01:13] no problem. [01:17] bah it clears the screen before i can see what the last command was [01:17] i see it now though [01:17] wonder if i can snap the "pause" key and have it pause [01:18] weird [01:18] nowit boots up fine now.... [01:18] lol go figure [01:19] I'd leave the "quiet" out then, so if it does it again, you get to see it. [01:20] damn thing clears screen before i can see it though [01:20] have to hit pause fast [01:20] lol [01:20] Thanks any Charlie [01:20] Anyway ** [01:22] You're welcome. I'm glad I could help. [05:24] my cd drive doesn't read blank cds [05:24] anyone have that issue before? [07:04] if the CDs are blank, then there is nothing to read [09:03] Xubuntu is so moody. There are days when it reads my router just fine, and other times it just doesn't work. But when I use Windows XP it works just fine. What the heck's the problem? [09:05] "reads my router"? [09:05] "it doesnt work" define it please [09:16] Network Manager seems fine. [09:17] All network settings are enabled properly. [09:17] And yet, no internet connection. [09:17] Prior to this, Xubuntu worked fine with my internet connection. [09:22] It's funny how people like to say trash about windows, but Xubuntu seems to have problems with something as simple as establishing an internet connection. [09:22] Something which i've never had a problem at all with Windows. [09:23] jointman: it would greatly help if you described your setup, "all is set up properly and doesn't work" is in fact not very informative [09:23] i need to know what i need to describe [09:23] all i know is, Xubutu 8.04 detected my router before and worked fine [09:24] i've rebooted multiple times, switched on and off my router [09:24] jointman: what is that "router" you are talking about? just an ethernet router? or ISDL modem? is it connected via ethernet or usb? [09:24] i disabled and re enabled my wired connection to no avail [09:24] ethernet router [09:24] how was it "detected"? [09:25] automatically [09:25] i didn't have to set-up anything [09:25] prior to this, firefox and galeon seem to crash most of the time [09:26] and you thik that firefox crashing is caused by your router? [09:27] not really, just saying for the record [09:27] where is that router connected? [09:28] to my pc [09:28] and only to your pc, or is there also some kind of connection to larger network infrastructure? [09:28] a 2nd pc at home [09:28] 2 pcs are connected to it [09:29] and the second pc is connected to the internet? [09:29] yeah, works fine with Windows XP on both pcs [09:29] in fact im using windows at the moment [09:29] since Xubuntu wont work [09:31] i wish there was a Terminal command i can use to fix this [09:31] i love Xubuntu, but these issues make it so frustrating [09:31] Anyone know off the top of their head how to enable other people to view your desktop remotely with vnc? [09:31] I can't seem to get it to go. [09:31] jointman: what's the issue I just joined? [09:31] Maybe I know. [09:31] It may seem vague but here goes. [09:32] I installed Xubuntu 8.04 last week and it automatically detected my router. [09:32] I didn't have to manually set-up anything for my internet connection. [09:32] Hi [09:32] However, just this moment it wont work, or rather, Xubuntu cant seem to "work" with my router. [09:32] I have quistion [09:32] When I tried using Windows XP, it works. [09:32] I just want to connect to the internet using Xubuntu. :/ [09:33] what does ifconfig show? [09:33] Falatooni1: ok [09:33] xubuntu 8.10 use openoffice.org 3.0? [09:33] i have no ifconfig [09:33] terminal cant find it [09:33] Falatooni1: not sure, I don't use it enough to know. [09:33] bash: ifconig: command not found [09:33] jointman: that's weird. [09:33] ok [09:34] and another quistion is: [09:34] oops [09:34] typo [09:34] jointman: try sudo ifconfig [09:34] xubuntu 8.10 support Persian language? [09:34] Falatooni1: I wish I knew. [09:34] the-erm: it mentioned a bunch of stuff i cant paste here [09:34] too large [09:35] What is the persian's laguage called? [09:35] Persian is Iranian language [09:35] farsi ? [09:35] Persian is Farsi [09:36] xubuntu supoort Farsi language? [09:36] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persian_language [09:37] no one can help me :( [09:38] no one can help me too? :-( [09:39] Falatooni1: xubuntu doesn't have openoffcie installed by default, but you can install it yourself [09:40] Falatooni1: I think that the latest version that is realeased at the end of this month has openoffice 3.0 [09:40] Falatooni1: you can also install from packages obtained from openoffice's website [09:40] Thnaks but can you tell me about suport persian languga ein xubuntu? [09:41] sorry for bad spelling in my notes [09:43] Falatooni1: tried http://www.ubuntu.com/support/local#head-3d1e257e99c17b4980920f12d60c7b27f5f10743 [09:43] ? [09:45] Thanks but ubuntu use gnome desktop and gnome support Persian language. Xubuntu dont use gnome desktop [09:52] damn it [10:04] no one can help [10:10] this is so frustrating [10:10] i still cant find a way [10:17] hi, will you try to update intrepid to 4.6? [10:18] is there any terminal command which can reread my ip address? [10:18] similar to window's ipconfig /release [10:18] and ipconfig /renew [10:30] ifconfig ? [11:02] hi [11:03] any germans here who can help me with an update? [11:03] !de [11:03] Deutschsprachige Hilfe fuer Probleme mit Ubuntu, Kubuntu und Edubuntu finden Sie in den Kanaelen #ubuntu-de, #kubuntu-de, #xubuntu-de und #edubuntu-de [11:05] thanks [12:25] hi everyone! has anyone setup huawei e220 for xubuntu? [12:26] !anyone [12:26] A large amount of the first questions asked in this channel start with "Does anyone/anybody..." Why not ask your next question (the real one) and find out? [12:27] does anyone knows how to setup huawei e220 in xubuntu? [12:27] please help [12:28] we don't even know what huawei e220 is, maybe describe your actual problem? what doesn't work? [12:28] its a usb 3g modem [12:29] xubuntu detected it as a usb storage device. but it is supposedly a modem [12:29] first hit in google: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=3654996 [12:30] maybe that will help you [12:31] thank you, i will try that now [12:32] Hi, i am trying to install Xubuntu via xubuntu-alternate-8.04-1 iso image. But when i install, it says some file is missing. [12:32] it is prompting me to retry for that file. (not sure which file). is there a bug open for this issue? [12:32] or is it happening only to me? [12:33] vegpuff: verify your cd for defects [12:33] TheSheep , there an option in installer itself for cd verification? [12:33] s/there/is there/ [12:33] vegpuff: yes, in the first menu you see [12:33] thanks! let me look at it [12:34] if that fails, check md5 of the iso you downloaded [12:35] TheSheep , i checked the md5. it is fine. i am checking the cd for defects now. [12:36] Hello there, I need some help [12:36] My computer won't boot up, so I tried the xubuntu live cd [12:36] vegpuff: if it turns out defective, burn next one with the slowest speed possible [12:36] TheSheep: Yes. it was a cd defect. [12:37] i am going to burn another one now.. [12:37] It will load to the point where xubuntu is supposed to show the login-screen, but then go dead on me. [12:37] sincostan: does pressing alt+ctrl+f2 give you a login prompt? [12:38] TheSheep: I'll try that, brb [12:45] TheSheep: Keyboard's dead, too, the lights on it flicker when I connect it, but nothing more [12:45] TheSheep: Could it be my PSU that suddenly crawled up and died ? [12:52] I get the motherboard screen, the Xubuntu language selection, then the meny with "Try xubuntu without changing anything..." and so on. I choose the live cd thing (try without changing anything), and I get the little mouse in a circle and a blue loading bar. When it finishes loading, the screen goes black on me and just dies. The keyboard stops working as well. [12:53] Any ideas... anyone ? [12:54] hey everyone [12:54] Hello, are you a hardware guy ? [12:55] No, why? [12:55] I need some help with my system, I suspect that it's the harddrive or the power supply [12:55] sincostan: try disconnecting the hdd and booting the livecd [12:55] oh ok [12:56] TheSheep: Ok, brb [12:56] was someone here [12:56] when i was talking about my problems with non-gnome WMs randomly booting me out? [12:58] Well, i solved it anyhow [12:59] TheSheep: I get the same result with the hdd disconnected [13:00] When I boot the live CD [13:00] TheSheep: Should I go ahead and try to find a spare psu to try with ? [13:07] sincostan: I don't think it's psu [13:07] sincostan: you could try with a different graphics card [13:07] if you have one handy [13:09] I installed more RAM a couple of months ago [13:09] But it seems weird that it would start giving me trouble now and not right away [13:11] have you done a memtest? [13:11] sorry, came in half way through [13:12] With the live cd ? [13:13] can you memtest with a live cd? I don't even know [13:13] Look, I don't even know what your problem is [13:13] so you probably shouldn't listen to me [13:21] It's doing a memory check now [13:23] what is the problem anyway? [13:24] system won't boot [13:24] Do you want the full story ? [13:24] yes [13:25] No doubt i won't be able to help you [13:25] but i like stories :D [13:27] Alright. It's my old computer, now my mother uses it. I got it in 2001, so it's a bit old, but I upgraded the RAM to 639 mb and installed XP on it, so she can use it for surfing and what not. A couple of weeks ago, she called me and said that her computer wouldn't start up. When I went and had a look at it, it wouldn't get past the windows loading bar thing. So, I figured it was the harddrive, as I had been having problems with it [13:28] I formatted the hdd, so now there's nothing on there. [13:28] I have installed xubuntu successfully on other systems with the same disc. [13:29] and you can boot a live cd? [13:30] I can get the menu, language options and all that, but when I choose to boot from it or install it, it dies after loading the loading bar thing [13:31] I'm guessing it's a hardware problem, not really related to xubuntu, but this is the place where I can find a lot of computer people, quickly [13:32] Did the memtest go OK? [13:33] So far, yes, but it's not even halfway through [13:33] Look, I have to go help a friend with something, but I'll be back in two hours or something, just in case you come up with a solution. [13:34] I don't think I will [13:34] But his faith in me stirs my soul [13:37] there is always someone here [14:33] hello, My volume control item has just disappeared on my laptop, I have sound (and I can use alsamixer from the terminal) but the gui disappeared and the shortcuts (Fn + F12) dont work ether any help please? [14:34] excalibas: what version of Xubuntu are you using? [14:35] charlie-tca: 8.04 [14:36] Try right click on panel, add new item, Volume Control [14:36] Don't forget to save settings when you logout/shutdown [14:37] charlie-tca: I did that and nothing happens [14:39] There's a bug about it, let me look [14:40] thanks, never happened before [14:40] Bit me yesterday, bug is https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-mixer/+bug/90261 [14:41] Xfce is working it. [14:44] yes, looks like this bug, yesterday everything was fine, and I havent updated or changed the theme, today i turn my laptop on and it is gone [14:46] There is a workaround mentioned in comment #35, it works for some people but not me. [14:54] the keybindings are the shortcut keys? [14:59] cody-somerville: ping [15:00] maxamillion, pong [15:01] excalibas: yes [15:02] i think [15:04] cody-somerville: random question, who do you work for? canonical or ubuntu? [15:05] I work for Canonical's OEM Services Custom Engineering Solutions Group [15:06] ah cool cool [15:12] Yee, the fix worked [15:13] but the shortcuts dont... [15:14] :( [15:14] now i'm out of ideas [15:15] make sure your keyboard layout is set properly [15:15] oh, they work, it just doesnt show nothing on the screen [15:15] the standard 105-keys layout doesn't have media keys [15:15] thanks a lot charlie-tca [15:16] Wish it had not broke the shortcuts [15:18] maybe this gets fixed soon... [15:19] * charlie-tca crosses fingers [15:34] Hi [15:35] utomega: hi [15:36] I was thinking about getting Xubuntu, but I have so called dual-boot (Windows XP and Fedora 9/8, can't remember :/). So, is it possible to install Xubuntu without loosing the possibility to boot Windows? :p I hope you understand what I mean :) [15:37] Yes [15:38] Hmm, ok, do I have to do something special, or can I just install Xubuntu instead Fedora? [15:41] You dont have todo anything. When its time to install/choose bootloader installer should say something like windows found+ [15:42] Cool, thanks alot :), I think I'll wait for the 8.10 release, not much until realease. [15:56] Why not download the 8.10 live cd and try it. You don't have to install then and it helps us test it. [15:57] ..beta or something is out already :D? [15:57] We are testing the rc today. Get it at http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/daily-live/20081021.1/intrepid-desktop-i386.iso [15:58] and put the results in qa tracker at http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/test/2057 [15:58] utomega, there have been alpha and beta versions of 8.10 out almost since the release of 8.04! [15:59] :d, ok, thanks, started downloading, i'll try to remember to report the results. [15:59] Thanks [16:00] so re [16:03] Hell, I just blew out one of my burners [16:03] :| [16:03] I have a faulty motherboard or power supply [16:05] Sorry to hear that, downloading is quite quick, few minutes more to download. [16:06] * vidd prefers the mini.iso [16:06] Yea, I got the images. that's the second burner though on this system [16:07] It only took two weeks for both to go out [16:07] the only downside is that the modification to install-recommends is immediately obvious [16:07] * charlie-tca hates eMachines [16:08] charlie-tca, you should consider building a system from the ground up [16:08] I've never tried the mini.iso [16:08] I have built two from the ground up, but this one was cheap - like US $50 [16:09] I have a motherboard, cpu, ps on order. Should be in this week [16:10] looks like ya need a burner now 2 [16:10] so that system was used? [16:10] Does, doesn't it. Maybe I should have waited for the stuff [16:10] Yes, used 1.2Ghz, 384MB ram [16:11] Hindsight - waiting is good [16:11] have you put that burner into one of your other systems? [16:12] Not yet, i'm using that machine right now. I'll try that later today. [16:12] smells like burnt wires though [16:13] thats a power supply [16:13] charlie-tca, you wanna hop into #xubuntu-offtopic? [16:13] Just what I wanted to hear... and eMachines is special [16:14] okay [17:41] Here we go, I'll ry Xubuntu, wish me luck! [17:47] I've got an m-audio audiophile 24/96 that I can't get any sound out of. [17:49] damn [17:49] as usually [17:49] Is there a howto anywhere relating to it? [17:49] it didn't work [17:49] !sound | galorin [17:49] galorin: If you're having problems with sound, first ensure ALSA is selected, by double clicking on the volume control, then File -> Change Device (ALSA Mixer). If that fails, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Sound - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting - http://alsa.opensrc.org/DmixPlugin - For playing audio files, see !Players and !MP3 [17:49] utomega, what failed? [17:49] live or alt install? [17:51] booting, first, it didn't do anything with my cd, started fedora, tried again, then got a weird and not informative table, waited, tried again, got ubuntu picture, some options (install, check cd) but after 2 seconds got error about booting, can't remember what it said excactly :/ [17:51] xubuntu picture* [17:51] tried few more times, almost every time I saw an table, didn't make any sense to me :/ [17:52] live cd? [17:52] alt cd? [17:52] the link I was given before [17:52] should be live [17:52] how much ram? [17:53] 700~ something [17:53] that should be plenty of ram to run the live cd [17:53] did you do the cd check? [17:54] I wasn't quick enough, tried, but the error got ahead of me, it just bumped out [17:54] and then the table showed up [17:54] sounds like you may have some hardware issues [17:55] completely unrelated to the cd burn [17:55] you dont by chance have a second system to test with? [17:55] :O [17:55] you mean, on a cd? [17:55] oh [17:55] you mean second computer? [17:56] you DID burn the iso to disk ... right? [17:56] yes :D [17:56] ok [17:56] used Roxio 9 [17:56] I suggest you try 8.04 not 8.10 rc [17:56] and do you have a second computer? [17:56] yes, I can try it right now [17:57] JannoTT, he responded to the call to test the live cd for the intrepid release [18:00] hmm, I don't know how to set cd to boot first on this laptop :/, will take some time [18:06] well vidd, works in my laptop :( [18:06] too bad [18:07] seems like a really nice os [18:07] so there is an issue with your cd reader? [18:07] maybe, [18:08] well it's an cd reader/writer, but it only writes unreadable cd's, but so far it could read [18:08] also could be failing ram [18:09] so the burner only burns frisbees? [18:09] then i would definantly say there is an issue with your cd reader [18:10] as they say....its not a question of "if" your hardware will fail...but "when" [18:10] (yeah only frisbees), well, I have an older one, which should work well :/ [18:11] but to be honest, it's the end of this school term and I have to learn for tomorrow :(, so I can't try anymore today, if it's any good I'll try to use another reader tomorrow. [18:11] and thanks alot vidd :) [18:12] no problem [18:12] well, bye :) [18:19] hey, does anyone here have any experience with adeskelts?? [18:19] adesklets [18:21] I recently tried [18:21] any luck? [18:22] you have to use the command "adesklets --xfce4" with a xfce4 tag [18:22] I found that I have to start adesklets_installer in a terminal, but it installs the desklets pretty sporadic. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. And i dunno where to find the damn things when I eventually have installed them [18:22] ok [18:23] lol, thanks again vidd, found some time to try and works fine [18:24] swapped out the cdrom drive? [18:24] yeah [18:24] vussville1: im supposed to type "adesklets --xfce4" ? [18:25] Nt_nt: adesklets --xfce4 will start the adesklets [18:25] do i have to have xfce4? [18:26] doesnt start when I do it... [18:26] im running GNOME [18:26] lol [18:26] then use adesklets --nautilus [18:26] what ? :P [18:26] see "adesklets --help" for more info [18:29] every adesklet you've installed will be in ~/.desklets [18:29] ok [18:30] and adesklet configuration file will be ~/.adesklets. Every adesklet listed in ~/adesklets file should show up on your desktop if you issue the command "adesklets --nautilus". [18:31] ok [18:32] do I have to do anything with the files under ~/.adesklets ? [18:32] ~/.desklets [18:33] In order to make installed desklets to show up every time you log into your desktop, you have to put the "adesklets --nautilus" commmand in your start-up list. However, with Gnome, my desklets show up for a short time when I logg in but disappear later, for some reason I do not understand. However, when I issue adesklets --nautilus, adesklets will show up on my desktop again. [18:34] ok [18:34] ~/.adesklets doesnt seem to exist :/ [18:35] No, you do not have to to anything with the files in ~/.desklets folder. However, you can edit ~/.adesklets file - erase the adesklets that you have installed and are in your ~/.desklets folder, but do not want to appear on desktop. [18:35] ok [18:36] So, you installed adesklets as such. As a program. But do you have installed some of the adesklets - like calendar, notes, yab or smth? [18:37] I downloaded adesklet from the ubuntu repository, and got it started and installed some desklets [18:37] but there is no ~/.adesklets [18:38] there is a ~/.gdesklets [18:38] lol [18:39] how did you install those desklets? [18:40] i went into usr/bin, and typed adesklets_installer or adesklets -i [18:40] and did it in there [18:40] didnt always work [18:41] but i got three of the "installed" [18:41] thats a shell of some sort :/ [18:43] what do you have in ~/desklets folder? [18:45] i have five desklet folders with python scripts in them [18:45] or at least thats what i think i have [18:45] :) [18:46] thats a screenshot of whats in the folders :P hehe [18:47] so, when you do "adesklets --nautilus" in the terminal, nothing happens? [18:48] jupp, absolutely nothing... there is just a new command prompt [18:48] beneath [18:48] aa ok [18:49] well when i type adesklets -nautilus something happens [18:49] then it lists commands and options [18:50] ex: -i,--installer Invoke the desklet installer (requires Python) [18:50] Fake root window detection [18:50] you have to go to the ~/.desklets folder and in every folder you have there you have to make the python scripts executabe and then run ./Calendar.py. Did you do that? [18:50] thats what it says over the list [18:51] no, how do u make them executable? [18:52] im sorry, im a huge noob :P [18:52] there is nothing wrong in being a newbie [18:53] :) [18:53] chmod a+x filename is one way [18:53] u gotta start somewhere, hehe [18:53] GUI way --> right click on *****.py file -->Properties -->permissions-->allow executing as ..... [18:53] or you could right-click in thunar, select properties, then permissions tab, etc. [18:53] right [18:53] brb [18:53] chmod a+x filename is fater to type ;) [18:55] hm, nothing happened when i tried chmod a+x filename [18:56] :D [18:56] I guess you can just left click on the filename.py file [18:56] :P [18:56] yeah i did that [18:57] its allowed to be exec [18:57] did dialog window pop up? [18:57] you have to choose "run" [18:58] the terminal just popped up for a split second when i clicked on it and chose to run in terminal [18:59] Good. So, now, look, if you have ~/.adesklets file [18:59] ok [19:00] . . . . noooo :P [19:00] there is no [19:00] ne [19:01] OK, let's do it in terminal [19:01] ok [19:01] go to the folder where you did a+x chmod [19:02] then type in ./filename.py Instead of filename, of course, use the name of the file you have there:) [19:02] ok [19:03] with chmod a+x infront? [19:03] if you did it correctly last time, you do not have to do chmod a+x again [19:04] ok [19:04] something happened when i type ./RAIDar.py [19:05] some error messages [19:05] what error messages? [19:05] what do they say? [19:05] AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'signal' [19:06] File "./mailer.py", line 46, in [19:06] import adesklets [19:06] File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/adesklets/__init__.py", line 30, in [19:06] from adesklets.initializer import _Initializer [19:06] File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/adesklets/initializer.py", line 13, in [19:06] from children_handler import _Children_handler [19:06] File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/adesklets/children_handler.py", line 5, in [19:06] from signal_handler import Signal_handler [19:06] File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/adesklets/signal_handler.py", line 12, in [19:06] class Signal_handler: [19:06] File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/adesklets/signal_handler.py", line 20, in Signal_handler [19:06] func = posix_signal.signal [19:06] the error message was at the bottom... [19:07] !pastebin [19:07] pastebin is a service to post multiple-lined texts so you don't flood the channel. The Ubuntu pastebin is at http://paste.ubuntu.com (make sure you give us the URL for your paste - see also the channel topic) [19:08] cool :) [19:09] I do not know what happened. However, in every desklet folder that you have in ~/.desklets folder, there is readme fail. It should have instructions how to install a particular desklet. Maybe there are some dependencies - some packages - you have to have installed. [19:09] ok [19:09] why do you want to try adesklets? [19:10] because it seems to be a practical sollution [19:10] and it looks cool :P [19:10] there are gdesklets and similar things that, I believe, are more easy to use especially for newbies [19:10] well i can try some more another time [19:10] ok [19:10] i installed gdesklets but that app wont start...but, hehe, thats another story [19:11] OK [19:11] maybe i have to restart the system or something [19:12] I do not think that will solve the problem. You know that you have managed to install some adesklets, if ~/.adesklets file appears in your home folder [19:14] i found the file (bows his head in shame). I thought u where talking about a folder :S [19:15] but there is nothing in the file though [19:19] well, thnx for the help :) [19:19] Hi all. I have a problem when it comes to installing, or rather formatting, my testing computer for the new 8.10 install. I did a native BeOS install on it, just to check it out (yes, it's an old one), a couple of weeks ago. This have somehow jumbeled the partition scheme in some way. [19:22] Now, all the steps of the partitioning (and install, but I doubt it is related) functions, until I press apply for the formatting of the drive. Then I get a message that says: Warning: Unable to detect filesystem! Possible reasons are: [19:22] -The filesystem is damaged [19:22] -The filesystem is unknown to GParted [19:22] -There is no filesystem available (unformatted) [19:23] My bucks is on the second one, have anyone experienced anything alike? [19:25] note that this happens even after deleting all partitions in gparted, before adding swap and formatting [21:32] is there a special release for the acer aspire one with linpus linux? [21:33] btw, should i try the xubuntu beta for this notebook? [21:34] just loaded xubuntu on to 1.1GHz celeron with 512MB RAM with onboard VGA sometimes it take 20mins to boot and say loading hardware drivers fail and I have no menu bars usally boots in 4mins wen it works [21:35] will a graphics card help any ideas [21:36] just try rebooting [21:36] should fix it [21:37] yeah rebooting does fix it just wondering if there was a permanent fix [21:38] alt+ctrl+backspace shoul be faster [21:39] not sure what exactly happens when you get that error
