slangasekkrafty: and when you say that oo-about-ubuntu-ru.rtf is in Greek, are you sure it's Greek as opposed to Russian, which is what it's supposed to be?00:00
slangasek(it displays fine in Russian for me on an installed system)00:00
stgraberubuntu alternate amd64/i386 manual + LTSP will be done in an hour, they are installing now00:27
TheMusoThanks to whoever is testing studio i386.00:55
stgraberalright, laptop is doing so much ISO testing that I can't even switch windows on it, it's time for some food while waiting for things to become fast again :)01:04
henoTheMuso: that would be pedro01:08
TheMusoheno: Yes I saw.01:09
stgraberok, with the tests I'm currently doing, we'll then have Ubuntu alternates and Ubuntu desktops done01:11
stgrabernot sure what I'll take next though, I can't really start downloading some new images due to the slow internet ... I'll probably just continue doing some more testing on already validated ones01:12
henostgraber: that would be good - it would be great to get double coverage on all cases (or at least the key ones)01:14
stgraberyeah01:15
stgraberand we really need testers for Mythbuntu01:16
henostgraber: I'm doing that now01:20
stgraberok01:20
henothough some Mythubuntu people who know better what it should do would be great01:21
henoI can confirm that it installs, plays sounds, starts the mythtv apps, etc01:21
stgraberthat's 3 more images done :) I now take server amd64, doing that remaining lvm + erase disk testcase and confirming all the others01:33
TheMusoOk studio tests are all validated at least once.01:52
slangasek\o/02:09
stgrabernobody happens to have an ESX setup at home ? :)02:21
stgraberthat's the only remaining testcase for Ubuntu server02:21
henoI'm going to get some sleep - back in a few hours02:23
stgraberheno: good night02:23

slangasekno worries, I just need some clarification :)02:29
kraftyslangasek: its a pass. i just started a week and half ago; just trying to helo02:30
kraftyslangasek: do i need to change the report or is all cool?02:30
slangasekkrafty: I've marked it as a pass now, thanks :)02:31
kraftyslangasek: cool, thanks. sorry for any confusion.02:32
slangasekno worries02:32
* TheMuso goes to validate the two remaining tests for kubuntu alternate amd64.03:03
stgrabercool03:04
stgraberwe'll also need someone who can easily setup VMs for test upgrade (Xubuntu)03:04
TheMusoSure, I can power up a xubuntu hardy vm for a test upgrade.03:05
stgraberwould be cool, I don't quite have the bandwidth to download Xubuntu hardy + the upgrade :( I really need to order that 10Mbit internet :)03:05
TheMusoDoes it matter what vm software is used?03:06
TheMusostgraber: I keep a local mirror hardy and intrepid here.03:06
stgraberno, I'm doing everything in kvm myself because it's the easiest to setup but everything should work now (wasn't the case with the alphas)03:06
TheMusoBut in this instance I'll probably use my ISP's mirror.03:06
TheMusoright03:06
rimestadhi, i have a quick question about Intrepid. It's just that i'm missing a file, and i don't know if it is just me! The package x11-common installs a symbolic link from /usr/share/X11/rgb.txt to /etc/X11/rgb.txt, which is used by some programs, but the file /etc/X11/rgb.txt dos not exist with me and I can't find it any where else! Is that just me or are any other with x11-common installed missing that file to?03:18
stgraberrimestad: that file exists here03:21
stgraberstgraber@castiana:~$ dpkg -S /etc/X11/rgb.txt03:21
stgraberx11-common: /etc/X11/rgb.txt03:21
stgraberso it came with x11-common, but as it's a config file, if you remove it or something removes it, it won't be restored on update03:22
stgraber(except if the update actually changes the file)03:22
* stgraber hopes his memories of how config files are handled are right :)03:23
persiaWell, there are different kinds of configuration files in /etc : some are conffiles, and some are not conffiles, but that's close enough to correct that the details don't matter in this case.03:23
rimestadok :)03:24
persia(there are also somethings files that can be used for configuration in /usr/share/ but those are not considered either conffiles or configuration files, but that's even less relevant in this case)03:24
persias/somethings/sometimes/103:24
rimestadis there a way i can restore it then?03:25
rimestadcause im missing it and i have a application needing it!03:25
persiaYou could download and extract the package, and copy it from the package source, or purge and reinstall the package (this probably has unfortunate domino effects for x11-common)03:25
persias/package source/extracted package/03:26
rimestadok, I will go for the download an extract then :)03:26
rimestadthanks03:26
TheMuso/c/c03:31
rimestadThe only rgb.txt file I can find in the x11-common (1:7.4~5ubuntu3) package is the symbolic link! so the file /etc/X11/rgb.txt is not created by this package! i have looked a little around the web and it seems that this has been a problem before where the xrgb package provided the file, but that package don't exist any more!03:42

henohey davmor208:27
davmor2heno: what do you need08:27
henodavmor2: we need 2 64-bit upgrade tests08:27
henohttp://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/build/all/untested08:28
davmor2heno: yeah I can do them08:28
henodavmor2: rock!08:28
davmor2apparently liw was having issues with 64bit in vm on kubuntu yesterday08:28
henoI'm having the same problems liw did creating hardy 64 kvm images08:29
henoyeah, it's a kvm-on-intrepid bug08:29
davmor2so I'll take the 2 64bit then if you can retest the edubuntu netboot against the gb server08:30

liwslangasek, three unfinished tests? I count four09:06
slangasekliw: I was going by the above-mentioned http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/build/all/untested, which seems to count differently09:07
liwslangasek, ah yeah, that lists stuff that hasn't even been started yet09:07
henothere is also http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/build/all/inprogress09:07
slangasekliw: oh, right09:08
liwdavmor2 is doing the 64-bit upgrade tests, so we now need to hunt down someone who can be forced to admit to having vmware09:08
slangasekspecifically vmware ESX, no?09:09
henovmware with ESX, a rather specialised setup09:09
davmor2slangasek: I think it's safe to assume that if the server guys who setup the option don't have then we're screwed :)09:10
slangasekI've pung them already, yes09:10
slangasekbut possibly before any of them were awake09:10
liwslangasek, you have phone numbers, use them!09:10
slangasekheh09:11
liwI should note that since all my testing is under kvm, I haven't had any success with stuff that uses audio -- might be good for someone to test some of that on real hardware09:11
slangasekmore effective to wait for them to wander sleepily to the computer on their own, and /then/ pounce09:11
henodavmor2: edubuntu netboot still hangs on the .gb mirror, trying the .no one09:13
mathiazslangasek: hm - ESX - I may be able to get access to an instance09:17
mathiazslangasek: we used to have one community member doing the testing09:17
slangasekmathiaz: it would be good if someone could get access to an instance if this is going to remain on our list of test cases, yes :)09:18
henohm, edu netboot hangs on no.archive.u.c too; trying archive.u.c sanity check09:27

mvodavmor2: urgs, please keep it running and file a bug, that is bad(tm)10:01
mvodavmor2: do you remember which one the first package was that gave this error?10:01

davmor2mvo: that's the exact message but I'm on about number 6-710:05
davmor2mvo: the log will be in /var/log/dist-upgrade right?  If so I'll attach it to the bug10:06
mvodavmor2: yes, that is the dir. if you don't mind file a new bug (with apport) that should be the easiest, we can always duplicate it10:09
davmor2mvo: I'm not sure it crashes it's just error but I can try for you10:10
davmor2mvo: apport reports no crashes10:22
persiadavmor2, Remember that in today's images apport is off by default.10:23

davmor2persia, mvo: sorry with you.  I'll restart with hardy and add apport10:25

pips1I noticed some new drupal accounts in e.o, perhaps they can help.. you know tirion and nubae?12:48
mvodavmor2: interessting, was that a fresh kubuntu install and then you added nvidia and it crashed?12:53
mvodavmor2: I will try to reproduce it here, I wonder why its happening on kubuntu but not on ubuntu12:53
davmor2mvo: it didn't crash though that is what is so confusing.  The whole process works as expected until the upgrade.12:53
davmor2mvo: Yeap straight install I added some apps and bookmarks first time round.  But second time was a vanilla install plus updates plus nvidia12:55
davmor2mvo: jockey starts up the after reboot and informs you that the nvidia drivers are in use12:56
mvodavmor2: thanks, I give it a go now (kubuntu regular, not the kde4 version?)12:56
davmor2kubuntu 3.5.6 or whatever it is yes12:56
davmor2mvo: would it be worth trying against kde4 too, to see if you get the same issue?13:07
slangasekmvo: nvidia-glx-177 Conflicts: nvidia-glx, nvidia-glx-new Provides: nvidia-glx; so nvidia-glx-new should have been uninstalled before the nvidia-glx-177 preinst ever triggered?13:14

davmor2mvo: I'm retrying here too14:14
davmor2heno: this one preserve home you might want to think about adding it as a testcase sound important if it is going to affect that quantity of cd's and dvd's14:37
henodavmor2: right. perhaps we should just modify the manual partitioning case for this run14:40
henodavmor2: did you write something? I can merge it in there14:43
heno(or I can write something)14:43
davmor2heno: I'm not sure we got as far as actual install methods.  Although there might be one on the old server14:44
davmor2heno: it's there but basic for manual partitioning https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/Ubuntu/LiveCd/LiveInstall  but I think this would need a separate case specifically.  I can write one up for jaunty but it want be in time for this round.  Although the instructions https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbiquityPreserveHome should be good enough for now.14:48
henodavmor2: indeed - I'll have a look. Not sure how quickly stgraber can get a new case on the tracker14:52
davmor2heno: for now just add a note to manual I think it'll be the easiest14:52
henoagreed14:53
davmor2and then sort out a proper testcase etc for jaunty14:53
davmor2sounds like it might be a late night then.15:00

ograpersia, bug 29076015:46
persiaogra, Could you also attach /var/log/syslog ?  (and /var/log/partman might be interesting, but I don't think so in this case)15:49

ograpersia, i'll start over now to get a properly finishing install15:52
ograshout if i shouldnt :)15:52

ograand afaik that gets only installed if console-setup is getting installed15:54
ograhmm15:55

ograsyslog disagrees15:55
ogratarget has it15:56

ograi just selected an US kbd15:56
ograon the Q115:56
ograthe question is why does ubiquity expect /etc/default/console-setup?15:57
persiaDunno then.  Take a look at 15:41:35 [1846.716058]15:57
persiaThat's because console-setup needs it to be missing to setup the console properly.15:58
persiaMight try the same with -desktop from usb-creator.  I'm curious if it's different (shouldn't be)15:59

davmor2no probs16:53
davmor2which just leave xubuntu16:53
henoactually - we could probably use the same hardy image for several of these16:55
persiaYou really just need one per arch.  Might be extra-interesting to try hybrids, as it would be more obvious if something didn't work.  Remember to create a file in $HOME/Desktop or something as a flag.16:56

persiabug #287747, but other traffic in -meeting is probably more interesting until the respin lands.17:07
liwif there will be new images, do they need to be re-tested from scratch again?17:13
persiaYes, they need normal testing as well as testing of the new test case.17:13
liwok. I'll stay around to help with that, at least17:14
sbeattieheno: is it expected that the driver cd option is only available from gfxboot on the desktop cd and not the others?17:15

sbeattieyeah, one sec.17:20
sbeattieerr, perhaps I'm not being clear, though: it shows up as an option in the F4 menu for the desktop cd (kubuntu-ibex is my test disc) but not for the alternate or server images.17:22

davmor2schwuk: all of them ;)22:41
schwukdavmor2: :)22:42
bdmurrayI'll be starting on kubuntu desktop i386 real soon now22:42
ogasawarabdmurray: I can help with some of those tests too22:42
* davmor2 wubi and vista22:43
* liw runs rsync22:43
bdmurrayogasawara: which isos do you have available for sync'ing?22:43
ogasawarabdmurray: I've got desktop, alt, and dvd22:45
sbeattieonce my rsync finishes, I'm about to do a kubuntu i386 upgrade.22:45
bdmurrayare upgrades necessary?22:45
bdmurrayogasawara: I'll start off with kubuntu i386 manual22:46
henoI don't think upgrades are needed22:46
cjwatsonat least one upgrade would be good22:47
cjwatsonoh, actually, no22:47
cjwatsonthe base-files change is in -security not release22:47
ogasawarabdmurray: ok, I'll get the Live Session real quick and then do the auto-resize22:47
* davmor2 kubuntu burning, vista installing, ubuntu 64 wubi started22:48
mdzI'm finding that pidgin doesn't work properly in my test installs in KVM22:51
bdmurrayWhere should the kubuntu release notes link to?22:51
mdzit connects to irc.ubuntu.com, but then hangs shortly thereafter and stops redrawing22:52
davmor2mdz: I'll try it on hw in a second22:52
liwmdz, hmm, it took me up to half a minute to connect but otherwise worked22:52
mdzI get "spoofing your IP, congrats" then "idoru set your hostname to..." and then it no longer responds22:54
liwI got nothing like that22:58
stgraber15 more minutes before I get something to test ...23:01
liwrsync finished -- what should I test?23:01
bdmurrayliw: maybe something in ubuntu amd64?23:03
henoliw: start with some longish tests like oem?23:03
mdzdavmor2: it works fine for me on real hardware23:03
* liw starts on Ubuntu Desktop amd64 oem23:04
=== asac_ is now known as asac
liwhm, I get different md5sums for what rsync downloaded and what the tracker tells me23:06
davmor21 down23:07
liwis the tracker's md5sum correct? http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/20081029.2/intrepid-desktop-amd64.iso and f9cdb7e9ad85263dde17f8fc81a6305b?23:08
stgraberliw: the tracker reads the MD5SUM file on cdimage23:08
schwukliw: already started that one23:08
mdzcan anyone else reproduce this problem with pidgin?23:09
liwstgraber, so that would be a yes, then; something is therefore wrong with my rsyncing23:09
davmor2mdz: it is probably just kvm23:10
liware these new images visible on chromium?23:10
davmor2liw: seem to be23:11
davmor2liw: there's a .4 on chromium did you get that instead of .223:12
liwdavmor2, dl-ubuntu-test-iso uses /current/ so I guess I'm getting whatever that points to23:13
sbeattieliw: are you using the dl script? ./dl-ubuntu-test-iso --version | grep /ubuntu/intrepid-desktop-amd64.iso will tell you what version the iso thinks it is.23:13
davmor2liw: .4 then I'm guessing23:13
davmor2slangasek: why we got ubuntu.4 on server and only .2 on the tracker23:14
jon9314does 8.10 upgrade smooth?23:14
henothe preserve /home test checks out for ubuntu 64bit, starting kubuntu 6423:15
liwsbeattie, hmm. --version or --versions? neither seems to output anything useful23:16
slangasekdavmor2: the one posted to the tracker is the one to use23:16
davmor2no probs just wondering23:16
* liw does manual rsyncs to be on the safe side23:16
davmor2slangasek: any sign of xubuntu coming through at all?23:19
slangasekchecking its progress23:19

kirklandmathiaz: Riddell: http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/result/2178/5523:21
kirklandmathiaz: my test succeeded, no problems23:21

kirklandRiddell, et al: nice job with Kubuntu, I haven't seen it in ages ;-)23:22
mvokde4 looks pretty nice23:22
henoWindows 7 is going to look like a cheap rip-off of Kubuntu :)23:23
heno(similar window boundaries and panel)23:25
schwukheno: It does look remarkably familiar, doesn't it?23:25
bdmurraymdz: I got pidgin working in a kvm install23:25
mdzbdmurray: interesting, Keybuk and evand both reproduced it23:27
Riddellliw: yes it's good to test23:27
bdmurraymdz: what kind of networking in kvm?23:27
liwwhile oem install is going, I'll take Kubuntu Desktop amd64 Live session and then entire disk tests, too, unless someone's doing those already23:28
Riddellliw: please do i'm not set up for full disk23:29
bdmurraymdz: I'm using bridged networking23:29
mathiazkirkland: could you try the entire disk test case?23:29
kirklandmathiaz: url?23:30
mathiazkirkland: http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/result/2178/5323:30
mathiazkirkland: same iso23:30
kirklandmathiaz: k23:30
liwkirkland, mathiaz: I'm testing that in a bit in kvm, should I skip?23:30
mdzbdmurray: the default23:30
mdzbdmurray: Keybuk has hypothesized that it has something to do with sound23:31
liwmdz, are you running kvm from the command line ("kvm ...") or via libvirt (virsh, virt-manager)?23:31
kirklandliw: i, too, am testing in kvm's...  running kvm from the command line23:31
bdmurrayogasawara: I'm moving on to kubuntu i386 entire disk - you are doing auto-resize right?23:33
mdzbdmurray: confirmed, if I enable sound in KVM it fixes the issue23:33
mathiazliw: could you do kubuntu amd64 live session?23:33
mvomdz: I have seen a hang with no sound when opening totem the other day, let me dig out the report23:33
ogasawarabdmurray: right.  I'll take OEM next then.23:33
liwmathiaz, already doing23:33

bdmurraysbeattie: ah, thanks23:34
bdmurraywhere's in progress for the iso tracker? ;-)23:35
ubuntuyo23:35
mvobug #289950 is about a pulseaudio hang in gstreamer23:35
mvomight be worthwhile to kll pulseaudio and try pidgin again23:35
henokubuntu-64 desktop preserve /home checks out23:35
mdzmvo: I filed https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pidgin/+bug/29091423:36
ubot5`Launchpad bug 290914 in pidgin "Hangs when no sound device is available" [Undecided,New]23:37
mdzmvo: Keybuk says it affects totem as well, maybe the same bug23:37
mvomdz: it probably is, it worked for me in totem when when I did a killall pulseaudio before starting it23:37
