rrittenhouseian_brasil, I asked you yesterday about the Acer A150-1570 (with XP). I just wanted to confirm before purchasing it that the Acer AOA150 models work OK with Linux. I noticed a bunch of different conflicting specs for the thing and I'm just wanting to make sure. http://tinyurl.com/5jhul717:06
ian_brasilwell i am running an aspire and it works ok..wifi is currently not working however (it was on and off during the release candidate updates so I imagine it will soon ..sooner if i ever get round to submitting the bug)..also i have not tested the mic or the audio yet17:09
rrittenhouseAh ok i was just making sure it was the XP version and whatnot. I noticed some of the specs were for other hardware and I was pretty confused :P17:10
ian_brasilmine came with linux but i changed it to ubuntu straight away17:11
rrittenhouseIs it the 1GB ram/Atom Proc/120GB thing?17:11
pururumine is AO100 512ram/8gb ssd17:11
rrittenhouseah.17:12
ian_brasilno it has 512 and an atom processor...the newest models have not got here yet17:12
rrittenhouseI figure they have different hardware. It said in windows that the card was an atheros17:12
rrittenhouse(the wireless card)17:12
ian_brasilyes mine is an atheros17:13
pururuany app to make video streaming from webcam? better if remote person dont need any specific software to recieve stream17:14
ian_brasiluse gstreamer?17:15
ian_brasili capture the webcam using V4linux17:15
pururuthat act as server? what software client will use?17:16
pururubetter if just browser17:17
pururui use luvcview right now for just local capture17:17
rrittenhouseian_brasil, I actually can't really find the Linux model (which is what I was looking for). But if the specs are better on the 150 I guess I should get it and see if I can get it working.17:18
rrittenhouseI would just hate to resort to Windows until it works haha :-D17:18
ian_brasilthe linux model has either sold out or is not in stock17:18
rrittenhouseOh ok.17:18
ian_brasilthe price difference caused a demand surge at the start of the linux offerings17:20
pururuthey even dont care to provide liveusb image of linpus lite... so pathetic17:20
rrittenhouse=/17:20
ian_brasilthe linpus lite actually rocks..x11perf tests comparing this and ubuntu are intersting to say the least17:20
rrittenhouseSo I would be OK trying the XP version? I don't care if it has SSD, really. It has a regular 120gb drive in it17:20
pururuon linpus website... and to include rescue DVD with netbook... that make me to just lol17:20
ian_brasilwell the ssd means your lap does not get hot17:21
pururuian_brasil: dunno... glxgears show same, or ubuntu is little better17:21
rrittenhouseah17:21
ian_brasilimportant in a warm climate17:21
rrittenhouseI guess its not too much of an issue for me. Thats a rough choice 8GB ssd or 120gb non ssd17:22
rrittenhouse:P17:22
ian_brasili ran x11perf -all on both17:22
ian_brasiland the original system install was a lot faster17:22
rrittenhouseah.. well I figure ssd would be17:22
rrittenhouseim just worried about the lack of space17:22
ian_brasilbuy slot cards 17:23
ian_brasil?17:23
pururuproblem is not 8 gb, problem is it really slow, i made dd if=/dev/zero of=ssd   and reported write speed was 2.5 mbytes/sec ... probably average for whole ssd17:23
pururualso i'm not sure if it is smart to download torrents to this ssd17:24
brianchidesterbfiller: was system info removed from unr or can I not find it for some other reason?17:25
