synicanything up with bzr today?04:48
synicI've made some commits that aren't showing up, and haven't for a few hours04:48
synicnot just not showing up, but I can't access them via 'bzr pull' on another machine04:49
spivspm: ^04:49
synicI push on one machine, and it says "pushed up to revision 1699", but trying to pull results in "already up-to-date", even though it's still at 1678 or so04:50
spmsynic: what branch?04:50
syniclp:exaile04:50
spmspiv: ta for the heads up :-)04:50
syniclet me get the exact url04:50
spmsynic: https://code.edge.launchpad.net/exaile is a good starting point fwiw...04:51
synichttps://code.edge.launchpad.net/~exaile-devel/exaile/exaile-0.3.004:51
spmsnap :-)04:51
spmsynic: interesting.... on the file system I'm seeing revision 168904:58
synicyeah, that's what I just pushed to (those numbers I gave you were made up)04:59
synicgreat.  Now it's working.05:00
synicsigh05:00
spmah - right - cool - had me a bit worried there - so the problem is more in the interface only showing 1685?05:00
synicwell, even a pull wasn't working, for probably 3 hours or so05:01
synicI've seen the interface take a while, but the local repo wasn't updating05:01
spmhmmm. unsure - spiv this might be back in your area of expertise?05:01
spivspm: is the updatebranches job (or whatever it is called?) working?05:03
spmspiv: Possibly not actually - haven't had a chance to chase those down yet - ta for the reminder... looking....05:03
spivIt sounds like the script that's meant to copy updates from the hosted (bzr+ssh) area to mirror (http) area.05:04
spiv(It sounds like it isn't working, that is.  It helps if I write complete sentences...)05:06
spm:-) I got it05:06
spmspiv: yeah - 'twas busted. lost in it's own world and making a mess of ... everything.05:22
Hobbseebeuno: pong.  Yes please.05:59
Hobbseebeuno: looks promising, thanks.06:00
ianm_is the bzr repo working?06:40

spmianm_: yes - *but* :-) am working on it.... keeps getting itself stuck.06:41
ianm_spm: I'll try to slow down :(06:43
spivianm_: accessing branches via sftp:// or bzr+ssh:// will be up to date, even if http:// is running behind.06:43
ianm_hm ok06:43
ianm_does the website use http to get the info?06:43
spivNo, but the process that updates the website is the same copies the data to the http area.06:44
ianm_ah06:46
spmsynic: ianm_: we appear to be unstuck at long last - so the changes should appear RSN.07:03
ianm_spm: great!07:05
spmI wasn't using a big enough hammer to smash things properly - selected the appropriate sledgie and all works again. ;-)07:06

ahasenackhmm, some bug listings in launchpad can't be sorted, while others can. Known bug? For example, I can't click on the columns here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/landscape-client12:34
beunoahasenack, when in doubt, file a bug. Worst case scenario, it will be marked as a dupe, and more attention will be payed towards the original bug  ;)12:36
ahasenackbeuno: ok, thanks12:37

mlischkehi there13:44
mlischkejust trying to get my feets wet with Launchpad first time13:44
mlischkeand I got a little question13:44
mlischkehow can I create a project group?13:44
mlischkeI found the project creation page and created already two projects, but I want to nest them13:44
sorenmlischke: You can make a project part of another project.13:46
sorenmlischke: See the project's details page.13:46
sorenhttp://launchpad.net/<project name>/+edit13:46
sorenI've never used it, though.13:46
mlischkesoren: I know, but this "super-project" must be a project group it seems13:46
mlischkePart of:13:47
mlischke(Optional) 13:47
mlischke(Choose…)13:47
mlischkeSuper-project. In Launchpad, we can setup a special "project group" that is an overarching initiative that includes several related projects13:47
sorenOk, so you probably need to ask to have one of those created.13:47
mlischkeI cannot specify one of my projects in the other, though.13:47
mlischkeseems so, unless there is a (not so obvious) way to create a project group13:48

bacmlischke: hi13:49
mlischkehey bac13:49
mlischkecan you help me with my little beginners question?13:49
bacsure13:49
mlischkeI need to create a project group in LP which is part of anouther project group13:50
mlischkeBut I don't find a link or setting to do that.13:50
bacmlischke: You want nested project groups?13:50
mlischkeindeed13:50
bacUnfortunately we do not support nested project groups.13:50
mlischkemysql -> mysql gui tools -> several gui projects13:51
mlischkehmm13:51
bacFor a project the size of MySQL it would certainly be nice but we just don't have the facilities right now.13:51
mlischkeI understand13:51
mlischkeany plans to add this feature in the future?13:52
bacmlischke: If you'd like to file a bug against launchpad it might help that feature get implemented, though I can't make any promises.13:52
mlischkeWould you recommend to create a GUI tools project and add all the sub projects as separate branches or rather create individual projects?13:53
* LarstiQ leans towards individual projects13:53
bacI would create separate projects.  Managing unrelated code as different branches or series is not the model we recommend.13:53
sorenbac: Eh?13:54
sorenbac: What do you call what MySQL already has?13:54
mlischkehmm, good point, though some code is shared among the other projects13:54
sorenbac: and d-i? and mozilla?13:54
bacsoren: Those are separate projects within a single project group.13:54
sorenIsn't that what mlischke is askign?13:54
bacNo13:54
bacHe was asking for nested project groups.13:54
sorenOh, right.13:55
mlischkesoren: basically yes, but I cannot create a project group gui-tools within the project group mysql13:55
mlischkehence I'm looking for a workaround13:55
sorenSorry, my mistake.13:55
mlischkethere will be 3 projects (apps) and one shared (library) project13:55
bacmlischke: I think the only solution at the moment is to have lots of indidual projects under the MySQL project group.  I see there are already very many so it will just add to the existing one.13:56
mlischkeoh yes, it already gets crowded13:56

ahasenackbac: the LP page says "Status tracked in 1.2 " for the ticket in question,18:28

ahasenackbac: it's a private bug, not sure if you can read it18:29
bacahasenack: ok, i understand your question now18:30
bacahasenack: You should be able to select 'target to release' and target it to 1.3.  It'll then be targeted to both 1.2 and 1.3.  You can then set the bugtask status for 1.2 to "Won't Fix".  You may want to try that on staging.launchpad.net to ensure you understand the workflow.18:36
ahasenackbac: hmm, bugtask? Should I see that now or only when it's targeted to 1.3?18:38
bacahasenack: when you view the bug there can be multiple rows showing the bug targeted to different releases or products.  Each of those rows is a bugtask.18:39

MTecknologykiko: some... not a whole lot19:31
kikoMTecknology, okay. so I suggest you first read into it and implement a simple openid client before trying to work out the groups extension19:31
kikoMTecknology, what are you trying to integrate? moin?19:32
MTecknologydrupal19:32
MTecknologyit has openid built in19:32
MTecknologythe fridge uses drupal and I don't see any signs that they modified it much19:32

MTecknologydang, it's a trick19:35
MTecknology:P19:35
MTecknologykiko: I meantioned this to somebody else19:37
MTecknologyI wonder if I can modify the openid login page to request the users openid url and use that...19:37
MTecknologyI thought I posted something like that in here, but i don't see it19:37
kikoMTecknology, that question doesn't make a lot of sense.19:38
MTecknologywhich part?19:39
kikoMTecknology, I think you need to a) understand a bit more about the openid protocol and implementation b) explain in laymans terms what it is you're trying to do19:39
MTecknologySorry for sounding like an idiot19:39
kikoMTecknology, it's just that what you are saying doesn't make a lot of sense and I think it's because you are rushing into solutions instead of talking about your problem19:39
MTecknologyI want people to be able to log into my site without using the the openid url or user/pass. I would like to pass them to LP, have them login there and get passed back to my site with whatever they need to authenticate as themselves.19:40
kikoMTecknology, well short answer is that there's no way of doing that -- openid requires they provide a URL to the openid provider19:41
MTecknologyhow does the fridge do it... maybe that19:42
kikoMTecknology, they need to provide an openid URL, though if you have openid 2 implemented they can just say "id.launchpad.net"19:42
MTecknology's what i'm getting confused on19:42
kikothe fridge does it using openid19:42
kikoor actually does it?19:42
MTecknologyheh....19:42
MTecknologythat form I have is pretty much ripped off from the fridge19:42
kikookay so the fridge does use openid, it just hardcodes authenticating against launchpad.net19:43
kikoso yeah, this should be possible19:43
MTecknologyexcept that what they do required special privs19:44
kikono, I don't think so19:44
MTecknologythat's what i got as a response on my question19:45
MTecknologythat last link i posted19:45
MTecknologyI'll be back in a few minutes19:46
bachi bigon19:51
bigonbac: hi19:52
bacbigon: i have the answer about how ubuntu.com addresses are handled19:52
MTecknologykiko: class was over - I really need a proxy19:52
bacit is originally your preferred email address in LP.  but it takes up to 48 hours to get set up.19:53
bacif you later change your preferred address to be your ubuntu.com address, then the cycle is recognized and the update is ignored, so the forwarding address remains the old preferred address19:53
bacthere is an outstanding bug to not allow people to set the ubuntu.com address as their preferred address in LP b/c it really makes no sense19:54
bigonbac: ok thx19:57
kikoMTecknology, looking into your request.19:57
MTecknologykiko: check the update on that question...19:58
kikoMTecknology, so.. I have good news and I have bad news.20:02
kikoMTecknology, the good news is that the stuff necessary to making the plugin work for you will be finished by december20:02
MTecknologyIt exists but isn't public?20:02
kikoMTecknology, the bad news is that it's december!20:02
MTecknologyend of next month?20:03
kikoyeah20:03
MTecknologyYES!!!20:03
MTecknologyHave a link for updates?20:04
MTecknologyI can handle waiting - 1 to 2 months is absolutely great. It'll give me a chance to focus on the activity of my loco rather that the technology available with it20:05
MTecknologykiko: Do you have any way for me to see when that plugin becomes available?20:08
kikoMTecknology, we'll probably do a public release of it, and it should go on launchpad.net/drupal itself20:08
MTecknologyoh - umm - I always grabbed drupal from their site - 6.6 atm20:09
MTecknologyso the fridge is running 5.2 atm?20:10
MTecknologykiko: If that plugin is released will it probably be a 5.x only or also 6.x?20:16
MTecknologyI can handle switching to 5.x if that's the case but I'd prefer start working on the changes right away20:17
kiko<Rinchen> kiko, it's tested against 5.x only20:18

MTecknologykiko: Looks like I answered my question. 8.10 has drupal 5 so that's the version I'll need to move to for my site. Thanks for helping me out on that :)20:43
kikoheh, I wish I had helped more!20:44
MTecknologykiko: actually - that was an immense help20:46
MTecknologykiko: You think the announcement will be on lp.net/drupal/+announcements20:47
kikoMTecknology, flacoste_lunch tells me he will make a note to let you know when it's out there.20:51

MTecknologykiko: awesome - thanks again. I'm really thankful for what you've done for me :)20:52
LantashI'm one of the developers of the LottaNZB project hosted on Launchpad and Bazaar 1.6.1 (u 8.10) asked me to 'bzr upgrade' to get better performance. Running 'bzr upgrade' locally resulted in "format 1 is already at the most recent format". And bzr got stuck while executing 'bzr upgrade lp:lottanzb'.  I finally upgraded Bazaar to 1.9dev. A local branch upgrade is still not possible and upgrading the one on lp.net produces the following mes20:56
Odd_BlokeLantash: You were cut off at "following mes".20:56
Lantash[...] message: "[...] File exists: '/srv/bazaar.launchpad.net/push-branches/00/00/1a/c2/backup.bzr'". Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks alot.20:57
kikoMTecknology, not much, but okay :)20:58
Lantash@Odd_Bloke: The branch I'm talking about: https://code.launchpad.net/~lottanzb/lottanzb/main20:59
Odd_BlokeLantash: I can't really help, was just letting you know. :)20:59
MTecknologykiko: I'm just happy to know what's going on as far as that's concerned. I have more questions about its dev - but I'll wait for the release... I'll also convert my site to use that code instead21:00
LantashNever mind. There's hope that at least one out of 130 users knows the answer ;-)21:01
kikoLantash, ah, hmm, you can sftp in and delete or rename that dir, I believe. have you tried lftp?21:02
MTecknologykiko: It's some good news to go against me having to write a vb program now... :P21:02

logari81hi, I am trying to upload a package to my ppa for the first time, but only dsc and sources files are being uploaded, no deb-package22:37
logari81this is my archive22:37
logari81https://launchpad.net/~logari81/+archive/22:37
logari81could anyone help me?22:38
cprovlogari81: you only need to upload the source package to launchpad PPA, it will *build* the binaries for you.22:42
logari81cprov: I get the message, that they have been built, but I see no deb packages? takes it longer to see them in the ppa?22:44
logari81o yes22:44
logari81I see now, it was just a matter of time, thnx anyway22:45
zookoHey, it looks like launchpad pushed some data into one of the tickets on my trac:22:45
cprovlogari81: np, binaries take up to 20 min to get published in the repository22:45
zookohttp://allmydata.org/trac/tahoe/ticket/402#comment:2322:46
logari81cprov: they are already there thnx22:46
zookoBut what is that number that launchpad pushed into my trac?22:46
zookohttps://launchpad.net/+search?field.text=23619022:46
zookoNone of the hits when I search for "236190" are related to tahoe ticket #402.22:47
cprovlogari81: cool, thanks for using the launchpad PPAs.22:48
zookoWhereas here is a bug that *does* link to my tahoe trac: https://bugs.launchpad.net/allmydata.org/+bug/23865822:50
ubottuLaunchpad bug 238658 in pyopenssl "please provide binaries" [Undecided,Incomplete]22:50
spivzooko: https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/pyopenssl/+bug/236190 shows a bunch of comments from your Trac23:00
ubottuLaunchpad bug 236190 in pyopenssl "funny permission bits in pyOpenSSL-0.6.tar.gz confuse tarfile.py" [Medium,Fix released]23:00
spivzooko: the same comments as shown on the other bug, oddly23:01
zookoHm.23:01
zookoWell, it does make sense that Tahoe #402 is related to launchpad #236190.23:02
ubottuLaunchpad bug 236190 in pyopenssl "funny permission bits in pyOpenSSL-0.6.tar.gz confuse tarfile.py" [Medium,Fix released] https://launchpad.net/bugs/23619023:02
zookoCould launchpad be changed to post a hyperlink to itself instead of just a bug #?23:02
spivWell, I guess it's not so odd, in that it's a remote bug watch on that one.23:02
spivzooko: that would make sense, file a bug requesting it.23:02
zookoFile a bug against which package or project?23:04
