=== asac_ is now known as asac === hggdh is now known as hggdh|away [12:03] mvo: Can't think of a reason not to build-dep on rarian-compat instead of scrollkeeper -- as long as the results are compatible with both implementations [12:03] Both are in main [12:22] lool: thanks === hggdh|away is now known as hggdh [14:53] is it possible to record from MIDI input in sound recorder on ubuntu 8.10? [15:00] * ArneGoetje waves [15:05] hey ArneGoetje [16:00] Keybuk, Riddell, ArneGoetje, mpt: half of the team is away, but let's have a quick meeting anyway [16:01] ok [16:01] indeed [16:01] where's Ken? [16:01] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DesktopTeam/Meeting/2008-11-11 [16:01] pretty boilerplate, too [16:01] Keybuk: is he still officially desktop team? [16:01] yes [16:01] this is Ken and MPT's last week [16:02] pinged [16:02] Riddell: there? [16:02] let's start with the outstanding actions [16:03] * Martin to upload current PPA langpacks to hardy/intrepid-proposed [16:03] I actually did that, but removed them again, since they were still incomplete [16:03] hi [16:03] I fixed langpack-o-matic to not produce broken KDE translations instead [16:03] and ArneGoetje is producing new packages as we speak, this time with complete KDE imports [16:03] so "delayed, but on track now" [16:03] anything I can test? [16:04] PPA in a few hours, I suppose [16:04] * * Jonathan to track down who is working on bug #290695, set assignee, and clarify status [16:04] Launchpad bug 290695 in adeptmgr "Adept allows editing filenames in Details view" [Unknown,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/290695 [16:05] turned out nobody was working on it [16:05] I should probably assign to myself [16:05] Riddell: it doesn't really seem an RC bug to me; WDYT? [16:05] more like a cosmetical issue [16:06] well it could do something nasty if you click on the field and accidently rename an important file, but it's not a security issue (you have to be root anyway for adept) [16:06] Riddell: so please feel free to drop the intrepid-updates milestone if it's not urgent [16:06] Riddell: oh, it's not just an UI glitch, you can actually rename the desktop files? [16:06] rename the filesystem files [16:07] erg [16:07] a built in feature of the widget being used that is not quite appropriate here [16:07] ok, I nominated for intrepid/jaunty [16:07] I'll take a look at it for next week [16:07] let's hope that it's just a simple property change then :) [16:07] ok, thanks for the heads-up [16:07] should be yes [16:08] merges seem to go well [16:08] intrepid-updates SRUs seem to stall a bit [16:09] but discussing that, and preparation of UDS/jaunty goals doesn't really make sense with just half of the team IMHO [16:09] anything on anybody's mind which we should discuss today? [16:09] not from me [16:09] where's Ken going? [16:11] Keybuk: ^ ? [16:11] Ken and Michael will be moving to the new Visual/Creative Design team [16:11] that will be on Monday next week, so this is their last meeting with us [16:11] ITYM "Matthew" [16:11] I do mean Matthew [16:11] sorry MPT :) [16:11] sounds exciting [16:11] and I guess now is as good a time as any [16:11] next week will be my last meeting with you [16:12] aww [16:12] I head off on leave, and when I return (for UDS), my replacement will be already on board [16:12] we're throwing him somewhat into the deep end, as he starts, heads straight to the DX sprint, FOSScamp and then UDS [16:12] Keybuk: which city is it this time? [16:13] pitti: leave? San Francisco [16:13] Keybuk: oh, Rick will be on the DX sprint, too? [16:13] pitti: apparently so [16:13] Keybuk: ah, so you arrive *very* early :) [16:13] Keybuk: don't forget about the flower [16:13] what's the DX sprint? [16:13] Riddell: Desktop Experience tam [16:13] team, even [16:13] Riddell: desktop experience team [16:14] so as Martin says, the new guy's name is Rick [16:15] if you'd like to know more, ask me in private - since until he joins, it's not really appropriate to talk about him in public :-) [16:15] oh, sorry [16:15] pitti: I don't think his first name constitutes much, I was more thinking in terms of who he is, etc. [16:17] (that's it from me :p) [16:17] AOB? [16:17] not from me [16:18] okthxhappymergingbye [16:18] oh, just one thing [16:19] when you have a quiet moment, please collect some ideas about what you'd like to work on for jaunty [16:19] I think we should discuss UDS prep at length next week [16:19] while Keybuk is still there to provide some input as well :) [16:25] kwwii: you missed it [16:26] Keybuk: sorry, I was at the store getting groceries, didn't notice the time [16:26] must have been a quick one [16:26] it was [16:26] did I miss anything important? [16:27] sending the notes to u-desktop@ now [16:27] kwwii: not really, half of the team is on holiday anyway [16:27] cool [16:27] sorry for missing it, I didn't forget the meeting, just what time it was [16:32] pitti: Given you mentioned UDS... is anyone revisiting the replacing-Pidgin-with-Empathy idea for Jaunty? [16:33] rlaager: it's on my discussion list [16:39] pitti: Okay. I'm certainly interested in providing whatever useful input I can. I'm an upstream Pidgin developer and will be at UDS this year. If you guys are going to switch to Empathy, I'm not going to fight it, because 1) I can easily install Pidgin anyway, and 2) I'm hoping that one day Empathy will be as good or better. Ground-up rewrites provide a lot of opportunity for fixing things. :) [16:39] Keybuk, sorry, I was busy with super sekrit discussions [16:40] rlaager: ah, looking forward to meeting you there [16:41] getting feedback from upstreams is one of the main reasons why we have UDSes in the first place :) [16:41] pitti: Officially, my employer is sending me (and another co-worker). So, we're also looking to do a week of bug squashing. So, hopefully my list of reported bugs will get smaller rather than bigger, at least for a week. ;) === hggdh is now known as hggdh|away
