jan__hi15:23
jan__anybody in here?15:24
persiaLots of people, but you'll always get a better response with a specific question.15:26
jan__i just installed umpc on my new netbook (gigabyte m912) and i am facing the problem, that my touchped is not recognized15:27
persiaWhich touchpad does that have?15:27
jan__i had the same problem with the normal ubuntu but the workaround that works for the normal version does not change anything for umpc15:28
jan__it from synaptics15:28
persiaWhat was your workaround?15:30
jan__adding i8042.noloop=1 in the kernel-line in grub15:30
jan__and uninstalling xserver-xorg-input-synaptics15:31
persiaAnd the same two steps don't work in UMPC?15:31
jan__right15:32
jan__the touchpad ist just "dead"15:32
persiaHmm.  I'd recommend comparing the x11.driver value for the lshal output for each of the working environment (Desktop) and the non-working environment (UMPC).  I have a feeling that either you're missing a driver you need, or a different driver is grabbing your device (and then not working).15:34
jan__thats pretty strange. the support for the touchscreen and the wireless are not working either (same as the normal version)15:35
jan__i guess my netbook is just too new15:35
persiaWell, the drivers are the same in both, although I think the UMPC version has a few more touchscreen drivers enabled by default.15:36
persiaBut yeah, it's probably that you have newer hardware.  You might want to file bugs (one for each piece of affected hardware), and include your lshal, lspci -vvnn, and lsusb -v output.  That might help get them supported.15:37
jan__is there any default calibration? the calibrating-program that came with the driver is not working15:37
jan__and the touchscreen desperatly needs to be calibrated15:38
persiaI think the calibration tool only works for touchscreens supported by the evtouch driver right now.15:39
jan__right, it doesnt work15:40
jan__hm... i think i will check 8.04. i read that the driver/calibration for the touchscreen will work with that version15:41
jan__and i hope, that the workaround for the touchpad will work there as well15:41
BUGabundo1hi16:43
BUGabundo1can keytouch be used to capture the keycodes of extra shortcuts on an eeepc?16:44

thebishopi'm interested in the Gigabyte M528, but it has limited storage.  Are there any other reasonably priced MIDs on the horizon with more storage or a standard SD slot?18:36
