GodfatherofEireOk, I think I may have found a partial fix for the usplash bugs in Intrepid00:26
GodfatherofEireAnybody in here?00:33
Hobbseeyes, ish.00:34
Hobbseenot many people around at this time of day though00:34
GodfatherofEireAh00:34
GodfatherofEireThat'd do it. Just figured I'd check in here too, cause it seems that I /might/ have something of a fix for the 8.10 usplash00:35
Hobbsee\o/00:35
GodfatherofEireYeah, I managed to get it to load another usplash, sort of. Looks more like a screen diagnostic though00:36
Hobbseepeople in here mroe tend to triage bugs - so probably don't have the actual knowledge of packages like 'how usplash works, internally' and such.00:36
Hobbseeinteresting...00:36
GodfatherofEireYeah, I had a similar problem in 8.0400:36
GodfatherofEireBut I think I managed to fix that, but I forget how00:37
GodfatherofEireCause I know it was working prior to the update00:37
GodfatherofEireWell, time to tweak it a little more till I get it workin I guess00:40

awkhi, I know you not here to answer trivial questions, but to be certain if this is a bug or not, where does network manager store its static ip addresses, etc.. I find that when changing auto eth0 to static with a ip assinged it does not keep this and before reporting a bug i would like to do some further investigation08:39
mr-russawk: 8.10 doesn't use /etc/network/interfaces.08:54
mr-russawk: you should probably ask further questions on #ubuntu from people who know more than I before reporting a bug about it.08:55
persiaWell, I think it can use /etc/network/interfaces: isn't that how server does it (no network manager)?09:01
mr-russpersia: yes, but if you config a static ip in network manager it never goes near interfaces.09:53
mr-russthat was my understanding of the intrepid network manager changes.09:53
mr-russWhy can I never find the wiki article for bug classification, incomplete/confirmed.09:54
mr-russah, finally found it.09:54

KriS|workHi, I think I have a problem with apt-get which I can only reproduce on Ubuntu and not on Debian. I have 2 Scripts. One calles the other. in the second one, there are functions which call apt-get. however int the middle of apt-get the function seems to be terminated. one can see the output here: http://rafb.net/p/99S78n60.html. The two Scripts are here: http://rafb.net/p/6RFy0u80.html. Any help or hints are appreciated.09:54
persiaAnd yes, I think NM does it differently, but neither of us are experts :)09:55
KriS|workThe strange problem I have is that the function after the one that calls "apt-get" never get called. instead, it only output's the function name in the middle of the apt-get output.09:56

aypeeHi. I'm experiencing some PowerPC bugs that seem to be related. I'd like to help solve them but I'm not too sure how I should proceed. Bugs #298156, #292092 and #281146 are gnometris, liferea and yelp crashing with SIGSEGV 'in signal_emit_unlocked_R() at at /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.18.2/gobject/gsignal.c'. They all seem to occur on the ppc architecture. Are these likely to be the same bug?20:55

aypee1Well, I tried.21:37

* calc was more referring to people who submit bugs in launchpad then never respond to requests for information on them, not in the channel itself22:02
* calc doesn't know much about glib22:02
* calc closed out many bugs due to not enough information and no follow up :\22:02
LynetAnyone with comitt-access to the ubuntu repositories here? There is a bug with pptp and storing keys to keychain in Intrepid, there is a fix in the bug report but it seems noone with the required access has taken a look at it and moved it to -proposed yet. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/28421222:06
