[00:09] hello. I'm in the process of figuring out what tuner to get for a mythbuntu box. Ideally, I'd love to get the hauppauge hvr 2250 but everything I've seen says there's no driver for it. Does anybody have an update on if or when it might be a viable option? [00:10] !help [00:10] !help Use ! followed by a topic to get help on the topic (if it exists) example: !logs. Does anybody have an update on if or when it might be a viable option? [01:13] acr, its unknown at this point [01:13] the support continues to get better for the HVR-1600 however [01:15] foxbuntu: do you know of any forums or other places I can ask? I really like having 2 tuners in one card [01:15] acr, HVR-1600 is dual tuners [01:15] although its Analog + Digital [01:16] foxbuntu: dual or hybrid? I'm looking at the site now and don't see anything about it having 2 hybrid tuners, like the 2250 [01:17] not 2 hybrid [01:17] A single NTSC and Single ATSC [01:17] right, the 2250 has 2 NTSC and 2 ATSC, which is what I like most about it [01:17] acr, indeed [01:18] but if it's not supported, I suppose it's easy to get the 1600, then upgrade later if and when it gets supported [01:18] acr, the only other place to ask is the v4l forums [01:19] foxbuntu: thanks, I'll give that a shot. Do you have a 1600? [01:19] 3 of them [01:19] wow [01:19] + 2 PVR-150s [01:19] + 1 HD-PVR [01:19] + 1 HDHR [01:19] and it works well with digital or analog? That's a ton, is that all in one machine? [01:19] no several [01:20] I own www.foxmediasystems.com, thats my current dev hardware [01:20] I saw a link to them on the mythbuntu website... but that website is down for me [01:20] oh crap [01:20] when did that happen [01:20] thanks for saying something [01:21] no problem [01:22] I know this is asking a lot, but I've never built a computer before and I'm not entirely sure everything will work together. It sounds like you have a lot of experience with it. Would you mind taking a look at the list of parts I'm planning on buying and telling me if there are any problems you can see that i might have missed? [01:23] I just left a post in the mythbuntu forum at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=986633 , if you're willing [01:24] *cough* foxmediasystems.com *cough* [01:24] heh [01:26] (still not online...) [01:26] !stab foxbuntu [01:26] * Zinn stabs foxbuntu with a sharpened mce remote. [01:27] acr, I am working on it [01:27] I know, I was just letting tgm4883_laptop know it was done [01:27] are you the person who runs the site? [01:29] foxbuntu, is [01:30] wow. I'll have to take a look [01:33] foxbuntu: does the 1600 come in a pci-express version? [01:34] acr, yeah, its called the HVR-1800 [01:34] mmm [01:34] thanks [01:37] thanks for all your help foxbuntu. I'll check out foxmediasystems when I get back from work [01:37] acr, np[ [02:04] if i'm gonna buy a hauppauge PVR-150 from ebay should i buy a box (including a remote)? is the remote worth it? it looks like just the card is cheaper. [02:06] or should i buy a remote separately? [02:15] BandC - be aware that the pvr-150-mce doesn't have a hookup for a remote (but the regular pvr-150 does), so if you go that way, you can't go out and hook a remote up to it later. [02:16] thanks. which one i cant hookup a remote later? [02:17] that said, I have a problem now because my old wintv card won't fit in my new low profile computer, so I can't use it for the remote. so I'm looking for another remote solution. [02:17] makkonen, you mean MCE comes with its own remote so i cant hookup another remote? [02:18] the pvr-150-mce doesn't have a built in ir receiver. the pvr-150 does. [02:18] if you've got an MCE remote, you can use that. if you've got both, you can use either. as far as I'm aware. [02:19] ok let me ask this then. the remote that comes with pvr-150, is it good or should i go with another remote? [02:21] I was never too impressed by it. What I did was program a universal remote to work with the hauppauge receiver. But that was a huge can of worms, and though I was happy with it for a long time, I wouldn't recommend it. [02:22] (then again, I wanted a remote with MANY buttons. for a reasonable person, the hauppauge one is probably fine.) [02:23] i see. ill probably get one with remote then. thanks for the help [02:30] ok, here's my question: my new setup doesn't have any way too hook up a remote currently (IRMan won't fit since it has no serial ports, old wintv card with ir receiver won't fit since it's low profile). A) Anyone know a cheap place to get a MCE USB IR receiver? B) It seems like there's a remote keyboard functionality in mythweb, but I can't figure out how to activate it... or find anything about it anywhere. Anyone know how to [02:35] Has anyone experienced the myth front end while playing recordings or live tv, stop responding to keyboard or Remote commands? [02:36] I just upgraded everything in the system to the latest 8.10 Mythbuntu and now if I fool around with the keyboard or the remote while watching a show sometimes the system just will no longer respond to keyboard commands. I have to restart GDM to get control back. [02:42] How can I get upsd or powerd working without the old inittab setup? Both need the Power Failed and Power Restored line that was in the old inittab file. [04:14] I'm running the mythbuntu frontend on my laptop, but the wireless does not start before the frontend, The setup won't connect to my backend, but if I log in normally it works normally. [04:16] I just read up on the sysvinit and upstart stuff on the ubuntu forums and i I might have to switch over to sysvint to get my UPS working. === Timrit is now known as Timrit_zZz [10:21] is there an easy way to prevent (e.g. /dev/input/event5) from being grabbed as an input device in Xorg? [10:21] X is stealing my IR remote away from lirc [10:21] i've added a udev rule to link it to /dev/input/remote [10:21] but can't find a way to prevent that being hotplugged [11:06] i'm having problemsfinding channels [11:06] my set top freeview box will pcik up all the channels [11:06] my nova-t 500 will only find a few [11:07] using the "scan" command from the command line doesn't find anything === Timrit_zZz is now known as Timrit === Timrit is now known as Timrit_away [13:57] I'm going to be buying my parts from Newegg, the last two remaining things I need is a wireless PCI card, and a IR receiver + remote, any suggestions? === Timrit_away is now known as Timrit === MythbuntuGuest54 is now known as Penbrock [20:19] Question: I just started playing around with Mythbuntu and love it. I only have a WinTV-GO Plus and want to upgrade/add another capture card. What is batter Hauppauge 150 or 350 [22:23] Am having a stupid moment, I think... should be an easy one to answer. Where do I set the spect ratio of my TV/monitor. I know I've set it before but can't find the setting now. Ta. [22:34] fatmonk: setup tvsetings playback 2nd screen... [22:42] gregL: not the aspect over-ride... that's something different. There is a setting somewhere for the aspect of the screen. At the moment anything that is 16:9 is being displayed letterboxed on my system. It wasn't earlier this evening so I think a setting has goine adrift somewhere... its the same with ripped DVDs, live TV and TV recordings... [22:42] when scanning OTA HD signals in the US, I just need to scan 8VSB right? Or do I need to scan QAM also? [22:43] us-ATSC-center-frequencies-8VSB is what i'm using [22:46] I don't think you do QAM for OTA, I'm not 100% positive though [22:47] I didn't think so either [22:47] I'm only getting OPB channels right now :( [22:48] i'm about halfway between 2 broadcasting cities and i'm picking up the OPB networks from both of them [22:48] OPB = PBS [22:55] anyone know what "WARNING: filter timeout pid 0x0000" means [22:58] tgm4883_laptop this using an antenna?
