[05:15] I got a problem installing 8.10...can anyone help? [05:17] cheezfood: if you describe what your problem is and stick around, I may be able to help later, or somebody else may beat me to it. It's 5:17am for me right now and I'm only at the computer for five minutes to prod some builds before going back to bed. [05:19] thx [05:19] I try to run ubiquity and get this error: [05:19] ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ ubiquity --help [05:19] 'import site' failed; use -v for traceback [05:19] Traceback (most recent call last): [05:19] File "/usr/bin/ubiquity", line 7, in [05:19] import os [05:19] File "/usr/lib/python2.5/os.py", line 469, in [05:19] class _Environ(UserDict.IterableUserDict): [05:19] AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'IterableUserDict' [05:20] running from the CD [05:21] sounds like a very unhappy python installation, and this didn't happen in stock Ubuntu 8.10. Unless this is modified from stock 8.10 in some way, you have a bad burn or a bad CD drive [05:21] try all of (a) cleaning the CD itself (b) burning the CD at a lower speed (c) cleaning the CD drive lens [05:21] hrm.. K thx...I'll just try a new cd [05:22] unfortunately optical drives/media are not as reliable as you might hope ... [05:22] aha... thx, I hadn't thought of that [05:22] do try cleaning the drive lens. That's the sort of thing you can clear up relatively easily and that's a real headache until you do, in my experience [05:23] with a lens cleaning CD? [05:23] yeah [05:23] kew [05:25] * cjwatson goes back to bed === cjwatson_ is now known as cjwatson
