camelreefGodd morning from snowy Scotland06:51
camelreefGood06:51
camelreefI'm running current and updated Mythbuntu06:51
camelreefI an a DVB-T user06:52
camelreefI'm doing lossless MPEG-2 auto-transcode after recording to go from transport streams to program steams and gain 20% disk space06:52
camelreefthe transcode task appears to do keyframe re-indexing after the actual transcode06:53
camelreefbut the end result in the system is a recording with a bad keyframe index06:54
camelreefI have to start a manual re-indexing to fix it06:54
camelreefthe backend logs show the automatic re-indexing, but un the .tmp file generated by the transcode06:55
camelreefI have a log file here:06:55
camelreefhttp://www.youplala.net/~will/htpc/transcode_and_indexing_problem.txt06:55
camelreefany idea how to fix this?06:55

bobbob1016Can anyone help me figure out why ubiquity keeps crashing when I try to install?  I've tried Ibex and Hardy both fail after "Configuring mythtv" at about 83%, even after I turned all the options off.  I ran it from terminal, and it complains about something to do with the pixmaps, but that is when I start it not at the end.14:21
lagabobbob1016: is that a combined frontend + backend install?14:24
bobbob1016laga, Yes14:27
bobbob1016laga, Running 64bit too.  It's an AMD Phenom X3 chip, which is 64bit, so it should be fine.14:29
bobbob1016laga, Just did it again when I did "install" from the boot menu, not live environment14:32

camelreefgood evening from Scotland18:35
camelreefI'm a DVB-T user18:37
camelreefso I record MPEG2-TS18:37
camelreefI have setup auto lossless MPEG2 transcode that actually gives me MPEG2-PS and 20% disk space savings18:38
Davieyneat18:39
camelreefthe logs show that the transcode stuff goes through a new keyframe/seektable indexing18:39
Davieycamelreef: how long does a transcode take?18:39
camelreefbut in reality all the recording have bad seektables18:39
DavieyHmm18:40
camelreefDaviey, a few minutes, it is not doing heavy stuff18:40
DavieyYou might need to regenerate them18:40
Davieybbl18:40
camelreefyeah, I can regenerate them, but it is manual18:40
camelreefand dumb as the transcode clearly shows seektable generation18:40
camelreefbut it looks like the transcode generates the seektable on the <original file name>.tmp file and not on the final renamed file18:41
camelreefauto-transcode has been turned on the Hardware DVB encoders recording profile18:44
camelreefwhat did I miss ?18:44
jphillipcamelreef is it removing commercials?18:47
camelreefit can, but I don't want it to, as commercial detection in the UK is flaky, at best18:47
jphillipI've had to use the rebuild option with mythcommflag after transcoding and removing commercials18:47
jphillipcamelreef well you should always check them by hand first, commflagging is never 100% reliably18:48
camelreefI know18:48
camelreefbut not my problem at hand18:48
camelreeflog file available here: http://youplala.net/~will/htpc/transcode_and_indexing_problem.txt18:49
camelreefstarting with recording ending18:49
camelreefthen transcode18:49
camelreefthen seektable rebuild18:49
camelreefthen going into the commflag18:50
jphillipcamelreef try doing mythcommflag -rebuild <recording_file>18:50
camelreefI can do that, I even have a job setup for it, but there is clearly something wrong, because of me or something else, in the transcode process, because a seektable rebuild is clearly happenning18:51
camelreefI do not wat to have to manually trigger rebuilds18:51
camelreefstart of transcode: 2008-12-01 09:30:41.564 Transcoding from /var/lib/mythtv/recordings/1004_20081201085500.mpg to /var/lib/mythtv/recordings/1004_20081201085500.mpg.tmp18:52
camelreefstart of keyframes/seektable rebuild: 2008-12-01 09:31:15.198 Generating Keyframe Index18:52
camelreef2008-12-01 09:31:15.222 Opening /var/lib/mythtv/recordings/1004_20081201085500.mpg.tmp18:52
camelreefnotice the .tmp18:52
jphillipthere are options to make a tmp file when transcoding18:53
jphillipIIRC the tmp is the original18:53
jphillipand then there is an option to delete it or keep it18:53
camelreefthe tmp is gone after the process18:54
camelreefand it's not like I have many options offered to me for auto-transcode18:54
jphillipthats weird, its as if its generating the keyframe on the old one18:54
jphillipwhich isn't what you want18:54
jphillipheh google points at a post from you :)18:56
jphillipcamelreef it seems mythtranscode has a --buildindex option18:57
jphilliphttp://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Mythtranscode18:57
camelreefjphillip, sure it does19:01
camelreefand the auto-transcode is even doing it19:01
camelreefbeen reading ?19:01
camelreefand anyway there is nowhere apparent to me where to set that up for auto-transcode19:02
jphillipthats really weird, I'd think that google would show me more if it was a huge problem19:03
jphillipcamelreef have you asked in #mythtv-users?19:03
camelreefI'm there also19:03
jphillipmore traffic there normally19:04
camelreefyeah, but they are on another problem19:04
camelreefI've posted on the Mythtv-users mailing list too19:04
jphillipyep thats what google pointed me at19:05

jphillipcamelreef-afk as a temporary fix you could make user job to rebuild the seek table after everything is said and done21:12

silverdulcetIs anyone familiar with mythwelcome?22:00

jphillip!ask22:02
ZinnPlease don't ask if anyone is around or if it is alright to ask a question.  Many people check back periodically and may answer your question when they see it.  IRC is not normally an instant fix so check back often for an answer.22:02
silverdulcetjust wanted to confirm something, I have acpi wakeup working ok now. If I use mythwelcome then the command to set the wake time in the bios gets called there. That means when I'm shutting down the system I need to exit out of mythfrontend and wait for mythwelcome to shutdown instead of just shutting down via the desktop menu. Otherwise mythwelcome never gets called to set the waketime?22:06
camelreef-afkjphillip, I have the job setup already23:09
camelreef-afkbut it's really annoying to have to do it manually23:09
camelreef-afkI thought that th transcode and 20% hdd gain was elegant23:10
camelreef-afkbut the bad seektableis killing it23:10
camelreef-afkI'm not that tight for space23:10
camelreef-afkand may revert to not transcoding23:11
camelreef-afkespecially since it also appears to be inverting the audio sstreams, puting the mono track in position #123:11
