[17:10] no hits so far on my searches... so any pointers to Blueprints or other docs greatly appreciated [19:37] anyone here for the EMEA meeting already? === nizarus_ is now known as nizarus [19:52] I 'may' be available for EMEA meeting for another 55 minutes however I can't be counted on as I mentioned on ML/planner. [19:53] Hopefully it will be quick. Anyway, I'm here. [19:53] I don't see any of the candidates yet, so it might be *very* quick :) [19:53] :) [19:54] It's a tough time of year to get things done. [19:54] it's the most wonderful time of the year [19:54] agreed [19:54] * Seveas bought his christmaspresents early this year [19:55] tv was dying, so bought a nice full hd 60cm flatscreen \o/ [19:55] nice! [19:55] 1920x1200 if you attach a computer [19:55] jealous [19:55] built in dvb-t tuner [19:55] * Seveas is in his geeky place :) [19:55] no idea what i'm going to get people :( [19:56] I'm building a play fort in my yard for my kids [19:56] ladder, climbing wall, slide, swings [19:56] awesome [19:57] can I come play? :) [19:57] anytime you like :) [19:57] yeah, nevermind "for my kids" [19:58] the floor of the platform is about 2 meters off the ground, so "climbing wall" is probably overstating the case, unless you are young or small [19:58] who cares :) [20:01] wanna hear something ironic? [20:01] yes [20:01] perl is one of the languages I like least [20:01] but now I'm sysadmin for the boxes behind perl5.git.perl.org [20:02] irony in a nutshell :) [20:02] wow! [20:02] * stgraber waves [20:02] * forumsmatthew waves back [20:02] hi stgraber [20:02] I'll have to leave in an hour [20:02] none of the candidates have shown up yet [20:03] let's give them 10 more minutes before calling it a loss :) [20:03] +1 [20:03] ok [20:03] dxter emailed, so we know where he is. Any of the others contact anyone? [20:04] nope [20:04] didn't see any mail either [20:10] Hi sorry I'm late [20:10] good timing, we were just about to call the meeting [20:10] munckfish, you're actually the first one to show up and just in time :) [20:10] Oh good, I just got home now :S [20:10] stgraber, phanatic PriceChild [20:10] we've got one! [20:10] great :) [20:11] munckfish, can you introduce yourself in a few lines please? [20:11] Sure [20:12] My contribution has mostly been in getting the PS3 version running again [20:12] I installed gutsy on it first [20:12] then found out it was dead on Hardy and decided to help out [20:12] Colin W, the kernel team and others have been sponsoring patches for me [20:13] X team too. That's about it really. [20:13] Will that do? [20:13] munckfish: is there any reason why you decided to go for ubuntu membership rather than ubuntu contributing developer? [20:13] Yes [20:13] 2 reasons [20:13] 1, gouki advised I should do it [20:14] 2, reading the wiki, it advised to become a member first, then proceed to MOTU [20:14] which page is that? seems to be outdated [20:14] Oh, I'll look for it [20:14] unless I misunderstood [20:14] the 'proper' way to MOTU is via ubuntu contributing developer etc. [20:15] you can now become an ubuntu member based on your packaging work, then you can become a MOTU. There are now many ways to get Ubuntu membership [20:15] Which means ... roughly what I've been doing? [20:15] but I see a problem with that: you're fixing things mostly in main instead of universe :) [20:15] the local councils are only one way, mainly used when doing something else than packaging work [20:15] munckfish, roughly but not quite [20:15] however, I'm quite impressed with the work I see [20:15] Seveas: thx [20:15] maintaining a port virtually on your own is not easy [20:16] Seveas: but very interesting [20:16] what is the contribution you're most proud of? [20:16] and hopefully not solo for the next cycle [20:16] anyway, it also shows quite a lot of QA work outside of simply packaging work so I'm fine with dealing with that application [20:16] * PriceChild notes top contributors on https://edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu-ps3-port [20:17] Seveas: it's difficult to say, my contributions have really been lots of small fixes which as whole have made it work again [20:17] fair enough [20:17] uu scottish [20:17] I'm proud of the whole lot, but I'm really proud of having the opportunity to contribute to core core stuff like X and the kernel [20:18] +1 from me, good work and I don't doubt the good work will continue [20:18] I have to say, I'm impressed and feeling really good about this [20:18] +1 [20:18] +1 [20:18] PriceChild: no, adopted scottish, I'm from Hampshire/Southampton [20:18] munckfish: not that that interests me me more than the real reason you're here! [20:18] PriceChild: :) [20:18] +1 from me too! [20:19] if he were a real scotsman, would you have said -1? :P [20:19] phanatic, your vote please [20:19] +1 of course. i hope you'll get more help during next cycle! [20:19] so thats +5, welcome in the club :) [20:19] Thanks guys [20:19] congratulations! [20:20] Wahaaaay! [20:20] welcome munckfish :) [20:20] added in LP [20:21] end of meeting, see you in a few weeks :) [20:21] Any advice for the optimal route to MOTU from here? I think I need to get some solid time doing new packaging maybe? [20:21] munckfish: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MOTU#So%20you%20want%20to%20be%20a%20MOTU? [20:21] /join #ubuntu-motu [20:21] :) [20:21] PriceChild: yeah I'll take a look, just wasn't sure I was following the traditional route so far [20:21] that too [20:22] Great thanks guys === munckfish is now known as _munckfish === _munckfish is now known as munckyMagik === munckyMagik is now known as munckfish
