t3ckn0b0ywhen running apt-get to purge mythbuntu-desktop it has no depends shouldnt cause any problem updating00:01
heyheyheyanyone install mythtube plugin?02:55
foxbuntuheyheyhey, I have not, but I hear it works for the most part03:42
superm1isn't that the new plugin?03:43
foxbuntusuperm1, yes.03:43
superm1whats it do?03:43
foxbuntuheyheyhey, I think its only supported in .2203:43
foxbuntusuperm1, more the same, rss magic for YouTube03:43
foxbuntubut has the ability to plugin new feeds03:44
superm1rss feed to the h264 files?03:44
foxbuntuidk03:44
superm1slacker?03:45
foxbuntusuperm1, I actually have been considering using it to create a patch to unify several plugins to one03:46
foxbuntusuperm1, http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/558903:46
superm1i hope it actually makes it in as an official plugin and doesnt just live off that bug for a long time03:47
foxbuntuindeed03:48
foxbuntuyou could help me dive into it :)03:48
foxbuntusuperm1, I think there is a pretty good push on it from talking to gbee and justinh03:51
superm1good03:59
superm1do you know what pre-empted that packaging branch ?03:59
superm1i wonder if it's so they can do binaries at release on their own buildd's or something04:00
superm1if so, that'd be pretty sweet04:00
hadssuperm1: Na I think it's just becuase IJR doesn't like packaging crap in the main tree so that was created as a comprimise.04:10
superm1well what's the point of it being there though?04:11
superm1just a centralized location i suppose for users to be able to grab from04:11
hadsWas xris that created it I think, can't remember exactly what for. It was suggested that the win32 and mac build scripts are moved there etc.04:12
hadsLooking through my log xris created to put his RPM spec file in.04:13
superm1well it would be nice for users to have a nice click-me-to-build-packages.sh that went with 0.22 then that branched the appropriate packaging branch and did all that stuff for people04:13
Anusienwhat network manager comes installed by default with Mythbuntu?04:59
foxbuntuAnusien, the normal one, there is only one05:26
Anusienfoxbuntu: what's it called?05:34
AnusienAnd when I say "network manager" I mean "a graphical tool to configure the NIC"05:34
foxbuntuAnusien, yes...thats exactly what I mean05:36
foxbuntuAnusien, nm-applet05:36
foxbuntuis what you are referring to05:36
foxbuntuits the little Computer looking icon next to the clock05:37
AnusienThanks!05:38
foxbuntunp05:38
AnusienI'm no longe rrunning the default desktop; I switched to kde and I couldn't very well tell my friend to run KNetworkManager05:38

zetherooI installed Mythbuntu on my Ubuntu system sorta without knowing what it was ... and I want to get rid of the entire thing ... how do I do that?10:23
zetheroowhen I try to remove mythbuntu from Synaptic it does not take all the other files with it10:24
lagawhat other files?10:24
zetheroowell there was over 100MB of data that was downloaded and installed when I installed it ....10:25
zetherooI want to completely remove it all10:25
lagait should be removed automatically if you remove mythbuntu-desktop..10:26
zetheroowhen I mark mythbuntu-desktop for removal nothing else gets marked along with it10:26
lagaodd.. wait for superm1, he probably knows more10:27
lagaor someone else :)10:27
zetheroooh ok10:27
zetheroois there a list of files somewhere that I can go by and manually remove them one by one?10:28
lagazetheroo: yeah, look at the dependencies of mythbuntu-desktop10:28
zetheroowell hmmm10:29
zetherooha ... some of the things it depends on I would not want to remove10:29
zetheroolike its got alsa in there10:29
zetherooits hard to know with some of these packages ... whether I can go without them or not10:30
lagait should have marked some of these packages as "installed automatically" so they can be removed if the last package which depends on them is removed10:31
zetherooyeah10:32
lagaapt-get autoremove might do what you want, but make sure to inspect the list of packages it's going to remove before you make yourself unhappy. be careful.10:32
zetherooI don't need xfce packages right?10:34
lagaif you don't use xfce..10:35

ejhello. i have a few issues with a fresh 8.10 install that I hope someone in here can help me with13:13
laga!ask | ej13:13
Zinnej: Please don't ask if anyone is around or if it is alright to ask a question.  Many people check back periodically and may answer your question when they see it.  IRC is not normally an instant fix so check back often for an answer.13:13
ejok thanks. i dont use irc very often.13:14
eji upgraded to 8.10 and mythweb broke (php I think is the problem) so I burned a fresh iso of 8.1013:16
ejran through the install with no issues but mythweb still doesnt work on the fresh install and i couldnt get the change-channel-lirc.pl script to work with the mceusb that wrked fine in 8.0413:18
ejthe cards work cuz I tested it with cat and mplayer13:18
ejlivetv woudlnt work either but I think that is because of the channel change script problem13:19
ejim using the old mceusb to a pioneer stb - it worked immediately in 7.10 and when i upgraded to 8.04 and in 8.10. i have a pvvr-150 and a pvr350 installed and working13:22
eji think its a php issue since apache is working and i put a phpinfo script at the root and it didnt work13:23
ejim hoping this is a common problem with an easy fix. otherwise i may just burn an 8.04 iso and try that13:26
lagawell, try fixing php ;)13:27
ejlol. i did and thats why i needed a reinstall13:28
eji tried removing and reinstalling to no avail. it was working fine until the upgrade - although i added phpmyadmin and that worked. maybe it was an apache conf issue. i added mythweb through the control center13:30
lagayeah, that's possible13:32
lagamaybe /etc/apache2/sites-available/mythweb* got broken13:32
ejcould be. i looked at it and it *looked* ok. i didnt overwrite and conf files during the upgrade13:33
lagayou could purge mythweb and install it again13:34
ejdid that. purge apache and php too and reinstalled. must be something I am missing in the setup that used to be automatic13:35
eji appreciate teh help btw13:35
eji could understand that maybe there was something odd from upgrading a few times and something broke in the apache/php/mythweb setup somewhere but i wouldnt expect to have the problem with a fresh install too13:36
eji also tried a knoppmyth iso to see if that would work - its not as easy as mythbuntu to setup. its installing now. if it works then ill go back to 8.10 and try that again13:41
zabbadappdid the last ubuntu v4l update break the IR-receiver for T-500 for anyone?15:33
MythbuntuGuest42new to irc and linux in general, need a little help please...15:56

culinarianok, I set up mythbuntu and mythtv and somwhere along the way I changed the theme as well as the resolution, not I am not able to view the entire menu screen. is there some way to do a default reset or something?16:03
lagaculinarian: mythfrontend --reset16:04
culinarian<-- was guest 4216:04
lagaah16:04
culinarianthe only things I see available from my mythbuntu desktop are control center -backend setup and run frontend...16:06
lagaget a terminal and enter it there16:07
culinarianterm--> mythfrontend <space>--reset?16:08
lagayes16:09
culinariancool, looks like it worked... thanks for the help16:10
gregLlaga: Have you ever seen this error when running mythweb? Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 71 bytes) in /usr/share/mythtv/mythweb/modules/tv/classes/Program.php on line 29516:10
lagayes. but i don't know how i solved it :)16:11
gregLOk, yeah i have googled it and tried just about every thing suggested..I may have to get kormoc to help me with that..thanks16:12
ejok - i reinstalled 8.10 and figured out the mythweb problem - i changed the port but didnt change it everywhere it needed. doh!16:12
ejgregl - i think its the memory limit in php16:13
lagaej: read the error message again ;)16:13
gregLej: yeah ,tried that..16:14
eji guess what i was thinking o is when u search on mythweb and it hits the limit16:15
gregLEverything works except when clicking the listings tab...That's when i get the error16:16
ejim now working on the channel-change-lirc part. i copied the scripts from the contrib dir to /usr/local/bin.   and changed the remote name to mceusb  but it still doesnt work and livetv will not start16:20
gregLlaga: I increased the memory from 16 to 32 M in the php.ini and it works now...Strange thing is i did it before and it didn't work...16:47
ejgregl great16:52
ejok - should there be scipts in the /usr/local/bin/  ? i cannot get the channel change working. i have the old mceusb with the transmitter. in the infrared section i selected mce usb old version and for the transmitter i selected mceusb pioneer. in the change-channel-lirc.pl script i changed the name to mceusb but it doesnt work.16:55
ejwould livetv not work because of this?16:56
gregLYeah, If i don't have my script up and running so it will change the stb to the start channel it won't start live tv..16:58
gregLIt's usually a permission problem..16:58
ejok - ill check that. i chmod +x already16:59
gregLtry it from the command line and see if it works..16:59
eji was trying that but couldnt quite get it right. i can run the change-channel-lirc.pl from the command line but it doesnt do anything17:00
ejthe script is owned by root and is executable17:01
gregLtry running the backend mythbackend -v most and see what error you get..17:02
ejok. ill see what i get. thx17:02
gregLoh: should be owned by the user you run mythtv with17:02
moj0risingHi. can anyone here tell me how to change the keyring password in mythdora?17:05
gregLtry mythdora forum17:05
moj0risingyeah. checked that and can't find it there or on google. weird17:18
eji got a little farther. livetv works and usiing the .pl script it thinks its changing the channel but it isnt. the sh script just doesnt work and the backend exits17:24
ejfor the chnnel change command in the setup i entered: sudo /usr/local/bin/change-channel-lirc.pl17:26
t3ckn0b0yis there a way to use the program guide icons with the program finder? where the black box just shows the channel name in text.17:42

tgm4883_laptopTrepidation, issues?22:00
tgm4883_laptopsquish102, uname -m22:00
squish102thanks tgm4883_laptop, i was confused. dunno y i installed i686 on an amd64 chip!22:02
Trepidationnah, getting back into it. I dabbled, but right after I bought my pvr500 I found out they changed hardware on the components22:06
Trepidationthere were a lot of odd issues folks had, I think one of the other issues people mentioned that the single input to two tuners got weakened some how22:07
Trepidationcaused inadequacies for the picture and whatnot, which it did look pretty terrible on my setup22:07
TrepidationI live in a hole, so not sure what has improved22:08
