ArthurDI'm using Ubuntu (8.04).12:46
ArthurDso - How do I set my mythtv to change channel on the digital cable tuner?12:46
ArthurD(i have the IR BLASTER cable)12:47
lagathat's a rather generic question. have you tried googling for your STB model do find specific guides?12:50
ArthurDI have. but i don't have a basic knowledge so i don't realy understad what to do12:51
ArthurDunderstand12:51
ArthurDwhat is STB?12:51
ArthurDI'm using Hauppauge wintv-pvr-15012:53
ArthurDdigital cable TV - a tuner connected to composite112:53
ArthurDand a USB remote receiver for the IR remote control. there is a IR BLASTER cable connected to it.12:54
lagaSTB means "set top box"12:55
ArthurDDo you mean the tuner box that the cable company provided?12:57
lagayes12:58
ArthurDoh. so there is nothing on the Internet regarding my specific STB.....12:59
ArthurDis there a basic script one should install in order to make the IR Blaster works?13:01

antebeIm having real difficulties getting my remote for a Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1110 to work properly with lirc. Can someone give my some insights? Basically, the remote works regardless of whether I have lirc installed or not (i apt-get install or remove it, respectively). In both cases the remote seems to work like a keyboard, but only some buttons, and not enough buttons for it to be any useful with mythtv.21:09
antebeMy installation is a Mythbuntu 8.10 straight installation, and I used the patch mentioned in http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=914128 (where I entered pretty much the same info as here now). So - anyone have any idea where I should start troubleshoot this?21:09
henrik_Hello! I have just exchanged my tv for a lcd tv that uses dvi connection. anyone knows what needs to be done to have it changed from svideo to dvi?21:22
ArthurDHi people. Finally I managed to get a script that can change the channel on the STB (using ir transmitter). The script works fine from terminal. But from some reason I can't make it works from MYTHTV. any idea why?22:16
IntuitiveNippleAny log info? Is the script executed at all, or not even called?22:17
ArthurDi don't know to look on the log. where can i find it?22:18
ArthurDbut I do see that the led is blinking, so my guess is something is working22:18
IntuitiveNippleIn your script, maybe add some echo "$(date) $@" >> led.log line so the script writes out the args it receives and the date22:19
ArthurDand where can i find the output?22:21
gregLArthurD: Where i usually mess up is not using the correct format when telling mythtv the path.. Mine is /usr/local/bin/MyBlaster.pl  I forgot the leading slash.22:21
IntuitiveNipplewhere-ever the script is set to - use an absolute path in the stdout redirection such as >>/tmp/led.log22:22
ArthurDI double checked the path. it's ok. I'm trying the log... just a mintue22:23
ArthurDi added the line :22:29
ArthurDecho "$(date) $@" >> /home/(((myname)))/led.log22:29
ArthurDbut no file was created22:29
gregLArthurD: Also make sure you have the permissions set to the proper user..22:29
ArthurDi gave 77722:29
ArthurDit should work, right?22:29
gregLThat should be ok then..22:29
gregLThe last time i had a problem,it was a typo..22:30
ArthurDmaybe the myth don't send the channel number at all? (but still... i should see the log file, right?)22:31
ArthurDdoes the script must be on a shared folder?22:32
gregLCan you start the frontend and back end in a terminal.. and use -v some and see what errors are created..22:32
gregLI put mine in /usr/local/bin22:33
ArthurDthere are no errors while running from the terminal22:38
gregLArthurD: did you set up your schedule.and set your starting channel to a known good channel?22:38
ArthurDthe starting channel is ok.22:39
ArthurDwhat do you mean about the schedule? I have the channels listed, and the next two days programs in the schedule22:39
gregLProgram guide22:40
ArthurDso i have22:41
ArthurDOHO!22:42
ArthurDI found the problem22:42
IntuitiveNipplelet us in on it :)22:42
ArthurDI was  sure that the myth transmitting the channel number. but actually it transmit the  "freqid"22:43
IntuitiveNippleahhh22:43
ArthurDdamn22:43
ZinnArthurD: Please watch your language.22:43
ArthurDoppps22:43
IntuitiveNippleCan you change it to send the channel number?22:44
ArthurDI dont know. but I will just insert in the freqid field the channel number value22:44
gregLArthurD: Where are you located?22:45
ArthurDIsrael22:45
gregLOh..It's quite different here in the US..22:46
gregLGreat you figured it out though...22:46
ArthurD:-) thanks anyway people!22:47
gregLnp22:47
IntuitiveNippleHas anyone been trying the native PulseAudio output patches?22:48
antebehas anyone seen my question? No ideas?23:16
