tgm4883_laptopI am trying to build something on my PPA for hardy, a build dependency I have set is liblame-dev, which is in hardy (and everything before hardy).  But for some reason I am getting a dependency wait on liblame-dev.  The only thing different about my ppa is that I have set a dependency for -backports (because I need debhelper >=7).  AFAICT, liblame-dev is not in -backports.  Is that the issue or could it be something else?03:25
Hobbseewhcih package are you building?03:26
tgm4883_laptopfuppes03:27
Hobbseewhat's the PPA address?03:27
tgm4883_laptophttps://edge.launchpad.net/~tgm4883/+archive03:27
tgm4883_laptopi've just removed the -backports and told i386 to retry03:27
wgrantThat's probably due to an undocumented quirk.03:28
Hobbseewgrant: the not building against multiverse?03:28
wgrantAny pocket selection other than the default will select only the components allowed for that package in Ubuntu.03:28
wgrantSo if it wasn't in multiverse, it won't be able to find liblame-dev.03:29
tgm4883_laptopso the issue is liblame-dev not being in multiverse?03:30
Hobbseeno, it is in multiverse03:30
Hobbseethe issue is that your package isn't.03:30
tgm4883_laptopor fuppes needs to be set for multiverse03:30
tgm4883_laptopah03:30
wgrantAnd there's no way to do that.03:30
wgrantSo you'll need to use 'Default', not 'Backports', until this is fixed.03:31
tgm4883_laptopyea the svn checkout had everything already set for debian, i've just been fixing dependency issues03:31
wgrantI discussed it with cprov just before everybody went on holiday.03:31
tgm4883_laptopah ok03:31
tgm4883_laptopso i'll have to get debhelper 7 into my ppa for that to work then03:31
tgm4883_laptopsince that is in backports03:31
wgrantYep.03:32
wgrantThat's actually easy now.03:32
wgrantYou can copy it directly.03:32
* wgrant finds the link.03:32
Hobbseewgrant: you can't override it the old way, via debian/control?03:32
wgrantHobbsee: No, it's overridden to main at upload-time.03:33
Hobbseeoh, lovely03:33
* Hobbsee mutters something about the feasibility of the opensuse build system, and wondering if it changes it's formats so often, and documents it's changes when it does.03:33
wgranttgm4883_laptop: You can copy (binaries and all) from https://edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary?field.name_filter=debhelper&field.status_filter=published or so.03:33
Hobbseebah.  i can't write valid english today, it appears03:34
wgrantIt has overridden to main for more than a year now.03:34
Hobbseewow, that long?03:34
* Hobbsee assumed it was possible to re-override, when they re-introduced the ogre model03:35
tgm4883_laptopwgrant, awesome, i'll copy that over03:35
wgrantogre-model was always there, it was just not configurable.03:35
wgrantNow it's configurable and they added an extra quirk just for us to have fun with and debug.03:35
tgm4883_laptopnot to bug you guys too much, but when is multiple ppa's coming out?03:36
Hobbseei thought it was gone, as everything went to 'main' by default?03:36
wgrantI'd like an extra checkbox under the pocket selection widgets to disable component overriding and enable components in ogremodel.03:36
Hobbseetgm4883_laptop: we don't work for them.  We just do some community support, and figure out what they've changed, and not documented, when people bring in build failures that are obtuse.03:36
wgranttgm4883_laptop: Well, neither of us are LP devs, but it might well be there next month.03:36
tgm4883_laptopawesome03:37
tgm4883_laptopI remember hearing a J month,  but couldn't remember if it was january or july03:37
wgrantParts of the changes were backed out for this release, but I believe it's all implemented.03:37
tgm4883_laptopi'm just looking forward to not having to make minor version number changes for multiple releases and a single upload03:38
wgrantI wouldn't advise using multiple PPAs for that.03:38
wgrantThat would break upgrades, for example.03:38
wgrantThere are good reasons that you need to do that.03:38
wgrantBut in most cases you should just be able to upload it to the oldest release and copy the binaries to the newer ones.03:38
wgrantNo more uploads required.03:39
gnomefreakit seems PPA is down09:59
wgrantgnomefreak: What gives you this idea?10:03
gnomefreakcant connect to the repos10:03
wgrantWorks fine for me.10:03
gnomefreakhold on ill patebin it10:03
gnomefreakwgrant: http://pastebin.mozilla.org/60115410:04
gnomefreakand my connection to net is fine or i wouldnt be here10:04
wgrantYour Internet connection is broken, or was for a while.10:05
gnomefreakeither apt issue or PPA issue the secuity ones may be due to not being open10:05
wgrantBoth work fine for me.10:05
wgrantTry again.10:05
gnomefreakit was? than why did all but PPA and security only ones that failed10:05
gnomefreakoops i mean worked10:06
wgrantOr the Canonical DC dropped out for a moment. Either way it's not a PPA problem and not a good topic for here.10:06
wgrantOr your Internet connection revived just before it tried to connect to gb.a.u.c.10:07
gnomefreakill try it again i thought PPA was LP server so i figured here would be best for PPA10:07
wgrantPPA is.10:07
wgrantsecurity.u.c is not.10:07
gnomefreakwgrant: i only asked about PPA10:07
wgrantGiven that both appeared to be unconnectable to at the same time, it is likely that the problem was closer to you than germanium.10:08
gnomefreakwill find out10:08
* gnomefreak found issue it seems router gave a problem but i would have thought it would have dropped me off net. but g/f noticed it10:11
gnomefreakas for security still ddown but not needed until after elease10:11
wgrantWe have been after release for perhaps 4 years now...10:12
wgrantsecurity.ubuntu.com is also not down from here.10:12
gnomefreakwgrant: i reda it wrong it was gb server meta info changing cc worked10:13
wgrantPardon?10:14
gnomefreaks/reda/read10:14
wgrantcc worked?10:14
wgrantBut why on earth do I get a 403 for http://security.ubuntu.com/ from some hosts but not others...10:14
gnomefreakno i used us.* and gb.* both are failing10:14
wgrantThey are different hosts.10:15
gnomefreaksame error10:15
wgrant=> your connection is probably the problem.10:15
gnomefreakbut the others work? its a server issue by looks of errors10:15
wgrantTraceroute.10:15
wgrantWhat is the error?10:15
gnomefreakUnable to find expected entry  restrictedi/source/Sources in Meta-index file (malformed Release file?)10:15
gnomefreakrelease file is server side10:16
wgrantFrom which server?10:16
gnomefreakus and gb10:16
wgrantPastebin the log, please.10:16
gnomefreakhttp://pastebin.mozilla.org/60115810:17
wgrantYou cannot spell restricted.10:17
gnomefreakoh maybe why i was typing else where it added a letter?10:17
gnomefreakwgrant: they are default repos i didnt change them10:18
wgrantPerhaps.10:18
wgrantNo they aren't.10:18
wgrantYou changed them.10:18
gnomefreakyep trialing i and no i was typing somewhere else but gedit took focus10:18
gnomefreakdeb-src http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty main restrictedi10:19
wgrantENOPARSE10:19
gnomefreakgedit stole focus when i was typing in another file10:19
wgrantAh.10:19
gnomefreakyep works now :)10:19
gnomefreakthanks wgrant10:21
wgrantExcellent.10:21
todd12hey10:26
todd12for a series, if i link an svn repository to launchpad, launchpad will make a bazaar repository out of it?10:28
wgranttodd12: Yes.10:32
wgrantAnd it will continuously import new changes every few hours.10:33
todd12okay, does that mean that people can check in to the bazaar copy and those check in will find their way to the svn version?10:39
todd12wgrant: what i've got is a project in svn and i'd like to keep using svn, without having to manage another repository (bazaar).10:43
wgranttodd12: No, it's read-only.10:45
wgrantLaunchpad can't write to your Subversion repository.10:45
wgrantUsers can use your Subversion repository through bzr-svn however, and still have write access.10:46
wgrantI do that with the projects to which I have commit access that still use svn.10:46
todd12wgrant: okay thanks!10:47

azimoutmerry christmas to everyone. i had an idea about a launchpad feature that i wanted to put forward here, before filing it as a launchpad bug: adding another status for launchpad bugs, something like "abandoned". currently, if the reporter(s) of a bug disappear, bugs are marked as invalid13:55

LaserJockis there any place in the API to "plug in" to +packagebug pages?18:52
LaserJockI could use field.bug_supervisor with python-launchpad-bugs but I wonder if there's a better way to do it with the LP API18:56
