freddydeaHi. I have been using myth-tv for years on Gentoo, and thought I would try ubuntu on a new machine. Things have gone OK and I have live TV working fine, but attempting to record doesn't seem to do anything and no errors are logged. Using mythbackground --verbose all is not showing any problems, is there somewhere else I should be looking? TIA19:43
oobefreddydea, have you setup guide data21:33
oobehow are you scheduling your recordings21:33
oobeor are you pressing R in the frontend whilst watching live tv21:34
ernstpmy mythtv frontend wont show scheduled recordings, only live tv recordings21:52
ernstpbut they exist, no problem there21:53
rhpot1991ernstp: hit m21:53
rhpot1991should pop up a menu21:53
rhpot1991and you can toggle between what it shows in there21:53
rhpot1991this is while on the recordings section21:53
ernstprhpot1991: doh, thanks!21:54
ernstpnooot very intuitive21:54
rhpot1991ernstp: np, dunno how but sometimes that gets thrown out of whack21:55
ernstprhpot1991: could have been my fault, maybe I messed there before I had recordings working...21:58
freddydeasorry, was out looking at snow. Mythtv is not scheduling recordings period, no matter if I use the frontend or mythweb22:22
freddydeaSo my question really is, how do I monitor what happens when I schedule a recoding in the frontend as it is not making changes to the database22:28
freddydeaOK, a step forward - using logging on mysql, I can see that when I schedule a recording, a new record is added to the table 'record'. Yet if I click upcoming recordings in the frontend, it says I have not scheduled any recordings...23:04
oobefreddydea, this is wierd i dont know23:17
freddydeait gets weirder...23:19
freddydeaIf I use mythweb, if I select recodomg schedules I have all my upcoming and past recordings listed, but then if I click the upcoming recordings tab it is empty!23:20
oobeinstall mythtv-status23:21
freddydeaoh? what does that do?23:21
oobeit wont lie its a small shell app that tells you encoder status and upcoming recordings23:21
oobebbiab got to go up to shop for a min23:22
freddydeaMythstatus - next recording in: never23:28
freddydeaOK question - I can't test this as I have no working mythtv setup here - if I disable the capture card on a working mythtv system, will it still list upcoming recordings even though it can't record?23:32
oobepossibly i dont know23:49
oobei just got back and while i was out i had an idea you might want to go to mythtv-setup and double check your recording groups and paths are all ok23:50
oobeand also check that the directory where the recordings go are read write23:50
oobechmod a+rw /var/lib/mythtv/recordings23:51
oobeif thats the location23:51
oobebut it still will show your upcoming recordings if you cant write to the recordings directory23:53
oobein mythweb you can tell it to repair your sql tables its worth a try to23:54
oobehttp://localhost/mythweb/settings/database23:54
oobefreddydea, also all your myth logs live in /var/log/mythytv23:56
oobethe backend log will be the most usefull23:56
