IntuitiveNippleI've found an ubiquity problem, kinda serious, but no clues as to how it is caused. After doing a manual partition configuration with separate partitions/encrypted LVMs for /, /var/ /boot/ and /home/, when ubiquity starts the install process it fails trying to prepare /dev/sda5 (/boot/) because sda5 has *disappeared* during the disk scanning.18:42
IntuitiveNippleTo be clear, the disappearance is according to the kernel (gone from /proc/partitions) but a restart finds the partition is okay and the file-system inside checks correctly18:43
IntuitiveNippleAnyone have suggestions as to where to dig?18:46
kennethr1 I am running 8.10 via wubi on Windows Vista...and I think I'm getting panics...how can I get a backtrace/coredump to troubleshoot?18:57
directhexcheck dmesg, if the machine is still responsive18:59
directhexif it's crashed HARD, your keyboard lights ought to be flashingf18:59
kennethr1I don't think so...CAPS LOCK is flashing18:59
kennethr1what then?18:59
kennethr1directhex: that's what I mean...kernel panic19:00
directhexthere are lots of types of kernel panic... this one sounds fatal though19:01
directhexdoes the machine have a wireless card?19:01
kennethr1right....how do I harvest more info about the panic?  It's happening fairly regularly...and yes I think it may be related to wireless.  It has bcm431119:02
kennethr1directhex: ping19:04

pregierI'm sure this is a FAQ somewhere, but haven't been able to find it yet:  Are there any plans for PulseAudio >= 0.9.12 and/or speex-1.2 (apparently required to build PA >=0.9.11) on Hardy?22:20
pregierThis is inspired by https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/26232622:22
ubottuLaunchpad bug 262326 in pulseaudio "pcm_pulse.c:275: pulse_write: Assertion `pcm->last_size >= (size * pcm->frame_size)' failed. (Intrepid & pulseaudio_0.9.11-0ubuntu1~ppa3 - TheMuso PPA) " [Undecided,Fix released]22:22
dtchenthat bug is already resolved in jaunty22:22
dtchenand AFAIK, no, no plans.22:22
dtchenthat would require invasive changes across the board: linux, alsa-lib, and alsa-plugins. then one would need to regression test every reverse dependency of libasound2.22:23
pregierThanks; I might have to watch the release cycle more closely then.22:31
directhexgnome needs a way to remap mouse buttons.22:44
directhexhmm, isn't that something linus was moaning about lately?22:44

looltjaalton: Checked the linux-libc-dev headers on lpia, these are fine now; pushed a new libdrm to git and uploaded to ubuntu23:11
maxbToday's mysqld updates somehow left me with the old mysqld_safe process not dying on shutdown, and instead sticking around sucking 100% CPU. Is there any info I can usefully gather before I kill it?23:19
ScottK-desktoplool: I already retried mesa and it built with the previous libdrm.  Does that mean it's misbuilt?23:31
