lovrewhen i try to run a game (ut2004), i get this error message: "open /dev/[sound/]dsp: Device or resource busy" -> the game runs ok, but there is NO sound. What does this error mean?00:28
cadaverpimpHow do I mount a floppy?00:29
mefisto__lovre: are there any sound settings in the game?00:29
cadaverpimpI inserted the floppy, but there isn't a mention of it anywhere in /media/00:29
Bilbo_Bagginscadaverpimp: should be able to just put a floppy in the drive and it should recogize that it's there.00:29
Bilbo_Bagginscadaverpimp: it won't mount if the floppy isn't formatted.. gparted?00:30
lovremefisto__: there are00:30
lovremefisto__: there is an option but only thing i can select is OpenAL, and its selected00:30
Sp0tKubuntuSeems like i have problems with the default KDE in Kubuntu 8.10, seems like problems with my chipset! Any solutions? Maybe i have to try the new KDE 4.2 and hope the bug is not present there?00:31
Bilbo_BagginsSp0tKubuntu: you should mention what you problem is.00:32
Sp0tKubuntuBilbo_Baggins:00:32

Bilbo_BagginsSp0tKubuntu: sorry I just got here.. all I saw was you had some unkown issue that you thought was chipset related00:33
failersi dont have any sound in jaunty 9.04 got any ideas?00:33
Sp0tKubuntuThink KDE from Kubuntu 8.10 default is the problem, i have tryed Kubuntu 8.04, no problem! Ubuntu 8.10, no problem!00:33
=== quassel17 is now known as jjesse-jaunty
Bilbo_BagginsSp0tKubuntu: if you're trying to play back a commercial dvd then you need the appropriate codec00:33
mefisto__lovre: try installing aoss and run it with that. eg, aoss ut2004 (if ut2004 is the executable)00:34
Sp0tKubuntuBilbo_Baggins: Sorry! ;-) Didnt see you come on :-)00:34
Bilbo_BagginsSp0tKubuntu: I supress joins parts quits.. there's just so many of them it breaks the flow00:34
Sp0tKubuntuBilbo_Baggins: I know, but i have, like i said, works in Ubuntu 8.10, from live CD + 2 codecs00:34
Bilbo_BagginsSp0tKubuntu: you're trying to do this from the live cd?00:35
Sp0tKubuntuBilbo_Baggins: I have no problems playing DVD in Kubuntu 8.04 live CD eighter00:35
Sp0tKubuntuBilbo_Baggins: No, testing00:35

Sp0tKubuntuBilbo_Baggins: Try again! Im in Kubuntu 8.10 64 bit, no DVD Playback, ok?00:35
lovremefisto__: ill try that. what is aoss anyway?00:36
Bilbo_BagginsSp0tKubuntu: did you get the right codec from medibuntu repositories00:36
Sp0tKubuntuBilbo_Baggins: then i boot a live cd with Ubuntu 810 64 bit, 2 codec, working00:36
Sp0tKubuntuBilbo_Baggins: Same with Kubuntu 8.0400:36
mefisto__lovre: plays oss audio through alsa. it seems from that error that this game wants to use oss00:36
Sp0tKubuntuBilbo_Baggins: But my INSTALLED Kubuntu 8.10 64 bit, no DVD Playback00:36
Sp0tKubuntuBilbo_Baggins: Thats why i think its a problem between Santa Rosa chipset and the default KDE desktopenviroment in Kubuntu 8.1000:37
Bilbo_BagginsSp0tKubuntu: could be a regression on 8.10 or the commercial codec has been removed from the live cd.. I know to play commercial dvd in ubuntu 8.10 you have to get the codec from the medibuntu repo's.. it's not on the cd.00:37
lovremefisto__: ok. what is oss? sorry for being a pest :(00:38
