coolego1Hello, I've been working on installing Mythbuntu 8.10 on an old box I have laying around with an ATI HDTV wonder card.  I am following the instructions from http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/ATI_HDTV_Wonder but I am hung up on getting it to lock onto HD channels.  I have not tried to work with analog TV, only digital.  I don't know how to manually configure the kernel, although there are diagrams on the site...06:17
zeltakhi anyone awake :) ?07:22
Dono_I allowed some updates that the update reminder thingy wanted to install, not the USB tuner doesn't work - dmesg seems to indicate a crash or something. How can I see what those couple things I installed were to uninstall them?08:56
Dono_(d'oh)08:56
Dono_I see what updates were installed from the dpkg log but don't know how to downgrade the packages...09:46
Dono_Okay, so I know how to downgrade using aptitude, so I might get this fixed09:51
Dono_Actually, I can't downgrade if aptitude doesn't know where to find the other versions...09:56
Dono_(other=older)09:56
Dono_Hmmm. Very strange, but I've corrected the problem or it has corrected itself somehow. Carry on :)10:07

daveo78Guys I know this is a ubuntu channel but anyone here use a macmini as a frontend using OSX14:42
JEDIDIAH__nope. My Macs run Ubuntu14:42
daveo78ok14:42
daveo78I'm getting tearing and lockups when running mythfrontend on my mini and was wondering what video settings people are using14:43
daveo78dont know if there the same under ubuntu or not14:43
JEDIDIAH__tearing and lockups are probably different issues.14:43
JEDIDIAH__check the mailing list archive for the tearing.14:44
daveo78like when I use my HDhomerun it just cant handle the video and then oddly the audio hardware locksup and I have to restart to get my sound back14:44
daveo78odd isnt it14:45
mike_hurleyanybody know about the default samba settings in mythbuntu 8.10 and mythdora 10.21?  samba worked fine under mythbuntu and for the life of me i cannot access my machine under samba in mythdora (even with mythbuntu's smb.conf).17:02
mike_hurleyi assume it's something like prelinked user accounts or groups17:02

JEDIDIAH__the newer versions of myth have playback settings that might not make sense for your hardware. After I upgraded to 0.21 I had to tweak my playback profiles to get my performance and responsiveness back.17:29
JEDIDIAH__a mini should definitely be able to handle 1080i MPEG2.17:30
JEDIDIAH__both of my panels run at 1080, so that might make a difference in my case.17:31
coolego1I can't lock into channels - when I scan I get nothing17:32
JEDIDIAH__...depending on the signal quality you won't be able to lock onto anything.17:53
coolego1I got locked, but now the interlacing makes the video look horrible18:09
